It's expensive, but for a truly elegant dining experience, The Tasting Room is one to keep in mind. The menu offerings are not huge, but well prepared and eye-appealling.

I have only been here for drinks and appetizers, but I was VERY impressed. My parents and I ordered the panko breaded shrimp and it was absolutely to die for. Their martini menu is quite extensive and I highly recommend the blackberry infused cosmopolitan, a cosmopolitan infused with real blackberry juice and juicy pieces of blackberries floating around in it. It was DELICIOUS! The tables in the bar area are great. They are right at the window, facing one of the busiest corners downtown, great for people watching! This place is a bit pricey though, and it's only in my budget for very special occasions.

I love the Tasting Room! The location is great (get a window seat, it is fun to watch the world pass by while you eat) and service is fabulous. The menu offerings are wonderful and the wine list is great (so are the speciality martinis). I have never had anything that I haven't liked.... but I can't get past the lobster whipped potatoes (seriously, if you haven't tried them... you must!). They are out of this world. We enjoy visiting during the week as the tables are very close together and privacy becomes somewhat of an issue during peak times. It is cramped and sometimes hard to wind your way through the dining area to reach the restrooms or the bar. It also gets pretty loud!

It is pricey... just so everyone knows! I believe you get what you pay for and, in my experience, it is worth the splurge every now and then!

I love the food at The Tasting Room. Their lobster bisque is the best in town, their salads are always crisp and perfectly blended, their entrees are cooked and assembled to perfection, and their desserts are worth saving room for. In addition, they have an extensive wine list that has something on it for everyone. My only complaint with this otherwise perfect restaurant is that it is so small and the tables are so close together that it's difficult not to feel as if you're eavesdropping on other people's conversations (and they on yours). Also, in the winter, if you get a seat near the front door, you freeze every time someone walks inside; there's a small, 2-sided vestibule, but cold wind just whips around it.

PROS: Wonderful food; creative menu; good wine selection.
CONS: Tables are too close together.
