Pretty authentic Burmese food
by Kristie K.
Mandalay is usually not as crowded as Burma Super Star, although I think the food is comparable. My parents are Burmese and I have grown up my entire life eating Burmese food, and I think the food at Mandalay is pretty authentic. Try ordering a traditional Burmese dish, such as the Ong No Kaw Soi (coconut noodle soup) or Moo Hin Nga (fish chowder soup). For an appetizer, one of my favorites is Balada (a Burmese-style crispy pancake). I think that outside of home-cooked Burmese food, Mandalay definitely ranks up there.

Great service and excellent food! I've been here a couple times and they already remember my face and my favorites on the menu. Starting to get a little more crowded than it used to be, so the word about this is starting to spread out! While you're there you have to try the Rainbow Salad!

Better than Burma!
by J K.
I'm always surprised when I have to walk through the crowd that's waiting to get in to Burma Super Start restaurant on Clement. I prefer Mandalay on California St. (just a few short blocks from Burma) for their authentic food and friendly wait staff. Often they will give you a little dessert to sample if you didn't leave enough room to order any. I've been going there for 2 years and hope to go for many more!

This is my favorite restaraunt to order take out! The coconut rice is a sweet variation that my children adore and the walnut broccoli chicken is the best! I highly recommend the green beans and mango prawns. We enjoy the fast service, hot food, and inexpensive menu! The food is clean and clear. No oil or grease. The decor is interesting and the servers quick and quiet. It's a nice, quiet place to enjoy exotic, spicy food. Parking can be a challenge. Next to Cool Beans Coffee.
