We ate there tonight for dinner and the food was very bland and we were overcharged. They charged us 1.99 each for gravy over the rice which came to an extra 10.00. I questioned it amd was told it was a substitution charge. I could of got a whole bowl of gravy for 2.00 not just a little over the rice. The place needs a good cleaning as the booths were dirty and they used the broom, the sam ebroomt hat they swept the floor with to sweep off the back and seats of the booth. Uck, so basically we are sitting in the same dirt that was on the bottom of people shoes...will not go back...save your money and health go elsewhere!!!

Being of Mexican decent, a frequent go-out and eat person, and a good eater, I know Mexican food. First, what's up with all the good reviews I see on this joint. Every search engine I use has this place with a good review, some almost appear to look too pretty as if someone got paid to write the review. Now to the food: This is no more than Mexican-American food, besides mole, no real Mexican restaurant use gravy. Don??t get me wrong, I like the gravy sometimes, but many people who like authentic Mexican food don??t like places with this gravy. My favorite gravy is at Stockton's Xochimilco's restaurant. The only other one I could tolerate is at Stockton's Cancun restaurant. The one hear was full of spices, you have to be in the mood for all the spices and take some pepcid or Tums. The beans appear to be the ones that come packaged (powder type placed in water). I??m okay with these beans, but it??s not the real deal. The rice I really enjoyed. I had a beef taco and chicken Enchilada which were just okay, but the beef could have been more lean. It had a lot of fat chunks. One of those two must have got my stomach upset because within an hour I was in the bathroom and two days later I??m still feeling the effects. I think it was the chicken enchilada, because my daughter had the beef burrito and gravy and she was fine. My wife had the carnitas plate and she said it was okay. The services could have been better. There were two waiters and two buss boys. The buss boys were okay and had a pleasant manner, but the waiters appeared stressed out and really never came around to refill drinks or ask if anything was needed. I had to ask for a refill and for my check after waiting for several minutes. In summary, I found this place to be a want-a-be Xochimilco??s restaurant, that just doesn??t measure up. The food at Xochimilco??s is better and they even have home-made flour tortillas that you don??t have to ask for like at this joint??s store bought, chemical tasting tortillas. Sorry Lodi, but I don??t know what to recommend, I use to be a big fan of Casa Mexicana on Kettleman, but their food is no longer very good. The food is usually super dry or salty, but they do have homemade tortillas.

Angelo's Mexican Restaurant is a favorite of locals. With big plates full of tasty Mexican favorites you're bound to love this place. There are large tables for big parties and small corners for a date night. The Lodi Stadium Theatre is across the street making it an ideal place to eat before or after a movie. Plus, the plates are inexpensive and the service fast!
