I am a hospital inspector for the State of California and I know hospitals. Although this one does have long waits, so do all hospitals in California. This one is the County hospital meaning, unlike Kaiser who can be selective on who they take, this one takes them ALL, no matter what. it is also where Stanford doctors come to train, where ALL spinal and head injury patients come for rehab and treatment and this is overseen by the most caring leadership of all the hospitals I have been to, and I have been to almost ALL of the Kaisers and most other hospitals in Northern California.

The rest of the hospital notwithstanding, my experience at this hospital was terrible. Twice I have had to take my infant daughter to the ER and both times it was close to four hours before we were seen. Even after we were given a bed, it didn't get better. The nurses didn't listen to me enough to understand what I was telling them and even when I got my point across they spoke to me like I didn't know anything. If you have a choice, pick a different hospital for an emergency.
PROS:
CONS: Slow service, unreceptive staff
