We took our little kitty, Buddy, to MedVet last night when he suddenly lost the use of his back legs. We had no idea what the heck even happened. The staff at MedVet were so kind and compassionate. They took him back immediately when we arrived to try and stabilize him. The Veterinarian, Dr. Quigley (I think was his name), was so patient with us in explaining everything so we could make the best decision for Buddy. Although we lost our dear little Buddy last night, I don't think his last hours here on this earth could have been more dignified and peaceful. My husband and I are extremely grateful for the wonderful care our furry little guy received.

Doctor Robert Dudley saved my dog Ava. Best Veterinary Surgeon and most caring Doctor in the World! Ava slipped on the ice on 12-13-13, (Yes that was a Friday) and fell hard on her face. She got up like no big deal. The next day she was in pain but I did not know it until she laid down by the back door front feet out straight and her head down flat. ( I had noticed earlier she was holding her head very low to the ground, but I did not know she was in pain.) As I was loading something into the back of my vehicle, she went in the garage and jumped in the vehicle as if to say, "I'm hurt, help me!" I called my local Vet and they kept her over the weekend on Med's to try to help her pain. We watched and hoped the Med's would correct her problem, but by the following weekend she was much worst. She had gotten to the point that she could not walk because she was in so much pain. I had to pick her up and put her in the vehicle. I thought for sure she would have to be put to sleep, and braced myself for the bad news as I drove the hour and half to Columbus. It was killing me to see my healthy 4 year old Dobbie who was the picture of health a week earlier, suffer in such great pain. Doctor Dudley looked at her and told me he thought she might have a bulged disc or ruptured disc. I was stunned until he told me he does about one of these type of surgeries a day, and that the outcome was an amazing 90% success rate. I started to feel a little better, but I was still very concerned. Doctor Dudley did and MRI and just as he had expected Ava had two bulged disc. He performed the surgery on that date, 12-21-13. It was a long recovery process, big surgery, but my dog was saved. Today, 3-15-14 as I write this note, Ava is doing very well. You can not find a better Doctor or Staff than Doctor Dudley and his fine staff. Thank you again to all the folks at Medvet. Don

In July 2009, My 2 year old Beagle Basset named Jacoby was hit by a truck. We rushed him to our primary vet in Bowling Green Ohio with all hopes that he would be ok. That was not the case. His pelvis was crushed, hips displaced, tail broken and had a hernia. His outlook was very grim and the doctors there told us that the best thing to do for him would be to put him down. I was devastated!!!!! I begged the doctors for another alternative. They did give me one but it would require me transporting Jacoby to Med Vet in Columbus. They sent a referral immediately, heavily sedated Jacoby and even loaded him in our van for the 2 hour trip. I made the trip with no hesitation. Upon arriving at Med Vet I walked in and I guess by my tear stained face and the fact that they had a hysterical woman standing at the desk they took me ahead of anyone else. Before I could blink someone came out with a gurney to get Jacoby from the van and another woman was at my side with a box of tissue. Jacoby was swept away to the back without any hesitation at all. I was asked to wait in a private room as they looked him over and as God as my witness I will never forget the moment Dr Kennedy walked in, sat down and said to me "Its ok, we can fix him no problem" The next day Jacoby had surgery for his hernia and the following day they reconstructed his entire back end. Dr. Kennedy is a miracle worker and I thank God everyday for his care for not just Jacoby but for me as well. Today, June 9, 2013 Jacoby is a healthy, happy, playful dog with many years ahead of him all because of Med Vet and Dr. Kennedy. I must say the treatment that my beloved Jacoby received there was far better than I have ever received from my family Doctor. From the doctors to the nurses to the receptionist THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!! Med Vet is a life saver. Literally!!!!!!!!

Our pup of 11 years has been saved twice by the staff at MedVet. His first emergency visit ended with the right medications for his Addison's disease, and recently his second emergency visit helped to heal his bleeding ulcers. Our Weim is a member of our family, and the doctor's and techs immediately recognized that (our tears probably gave a bit of a clue). MedVet helped our pup's physical health and the mental health of his human family. Thank you again!

Dr. Matthew Barnhart and the staff at Medvet were great in taking care of both of our dogs (Thelma and Louise) as they had to have acl surgery on both knees. I couldn't have asked for a better orthopedic surgeon. Every time we had to visit Medvet Dr. Barnhart and the staff was always going above and beyond and making us feel like we are part of the medvet family. A special thank you to the following people: Dr. Barnhart, Miranda (Thelma's Tech), Danielle (Louise's Tech), Melissa, and Patty. I would reccommend anyone that needs to have an acl sugery to have Dr. Barnhart do it as we have had great results with both Thelma and Louise..

We took our 11 year old Lab in to the Emergency Room after an initial diagnosis from our local vet confirmed that she would need surgery to remove a ruptured tumor. At the time we did not know what they would find when they operated and we were fortunate to have had an amazing outcome. Dr. Dudley was her surgeon and he did a great job all around. His timely communication and explanation of the process, risks, next steps were much appreciated. Our lab had no complications after the surgery and is doing amazing! We are very grateful to Dr. Dudley and the entire MedVet staff for their care and professionalism throughout the surgery and recovery period. We are very lucky to still have our girl with us and can't thank them enough. Highly recommend!

Our dog had a soft tissue sarcoma on his leg and with all of the treatment options given, we decided to have his leg amputated. Dr Dudley took his time to explain the cancer and all of the treatment options without trying to steer us in any direction. He gave us all the information we needed to make an informed decision. My wife and I are very pleased with Dr. Dudley and the rest of the staff at Medvet for making our experience as pleasant as possible. I would highly recommend them.

On Christmas Eve, I found out that my dachshund had to have back surgery. I was told that the best surgeon Dr. Barnhart would be doing it. Throughout the procedure, hospital stay, and recheck appointments Dr. Barnhart and his staff have been kind, patient, knowledgeable, and efficient. The staff and doctor also work with you on your bill, which every little bit helps. I totally recommend this medical center and especially recommend Dr. Barnhart.

At 18 months my Nebolish Mastiff, Lucy was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia. This was devastating news as I brought her home at 8 weeks old, 2 weeks after I had a total knee replacement. She was a Delta Society Therapy dog and R.E.A.D. qualified as well. The prognosis was to let the condition worsen until she was 5 years old and then consider hip replacement-meaning early retirement for her.

We moved to Columbus when Lucy was 3 years old and so began a relationship with a local vet in our area, Dr. Ann Greenwold. She immediately picked up on the misdiagnosis and recommended we confirm with Dr. Barnhart at MedVet a torn CCL in her right knee.

Aside from concerns over cost, I knew Lucy had grown to have confidence issues with new situations and is stressed around other dogs. However my concern for her quality of life outweighed these issues. (Having had a knee placement let me say the TTA costs we incurred were no where near what a human costs- same state of the art facility- same level of training for staff.)

I was thrilled to walk into MedVet; realizing this was truly a state of art hospital environment in every aspect, not another veterinarian??s office! I explained to the receptionist Lucy??s nervousness and they were very accommodating. A staffer greeted us and interacted with Lucy while we were waiting, putting both of us at ease. Lucy was evaluated by physical exam and we spoke with an intern.

Immediately upon meeting Dr. Barnhart I felt confident about my decision to bring Lucy to MedVet. His ability to put both of us at ease, his confidence in his knowledge, and belief in compassion are remarkable to see. He diagnosed Lucy with a torn CCL and went into detail explaining the diagnosis and the surgery to correct it. He let me know that a Bilateral Tibial Tuberosity Advancement would most likely be performed. We discussed the high rate of the other leg needing the same type of surgery down the road.

On January 20, 2012 Lucy had her first TTA surgery on her right knee. I followed all recommendations including the free physical therapy consult. She had quite a bit of muscle atrophy in the leg, since the condition went on so long. She made a full recovery around April, 2012 and resumed her self appointed rounds at the farm. In late July I noticed her limping on her left leg, and so immediately set up an appointment with Dr. Barnhart. Lucy had her second TTA surgery August 1, 2012. We followed the post surgery protocol and Lucy recovered much quicker due to the speed in which we indicated contact with Dr. Barnhart.

All the staff were happy to accommodate Lucy??s constant need for belly rubs to help her stay relaxed! In situations of high stress, such as a love ones having surgery, communication is of the utmost importance, which Dr. Barnhart and MedVet possess in spades! This was evident from when we walked in the door to surgery and through full recovery.

We will thank Dr. Barnhart and MedVet on each of our treks into the woods and water~

In the beginning of June, our dog, Bam, began to limp on his back right leg. My local vet set up to MedVet for a total hip replacement consult. We were devastated and didn't know if we could afford hip surgery and how we would deal with Bam through recovery as he is an American Pit Bull Terrier. From the moment we arrived at MedVet, Bam was treated very well. For the first time, a vet actually examined him. Because he is a pit bull, he can be very scary even with a muzzle. Dr. Barnhart examined him and although his hip xrays were horrible, what he really needed was knee surgery. We are now almost 8 weeks out from the surgery. Bam did great. Dr. Barnhart and his staff took excellent care of him and guided us through the entire process. They did the final xray of his knee with NO SEDATION. That is huge for BAM as he is sedated almost every visit to the vet. THANK YOU MEDVET!!! Bam is a big part of our family and now he is moving better than ever.

In the spring of 2012 our dog Rocket, age 10 1/2, developed back issues that caused him to lose the use of his back legs. We were on vacation at the time and I thought he might have to be put down. We left vacation early to meet with Dr. Robert Dudley at MedVet in Columbus. Dr. Dudley evaluated Rocket and felt that Rocket could be helped with surgery. Rocket never was nor will he ever be extremely agile but thanks to Dr. Dudley he is certainly mobile. Everything that Dr. Dudley told us was played out exactly as predicted. I enthusiastically recommend Dr. Dudley to any pet owner that has a dog with back issues. Thank you Dr. Dudley.

"Maggie" had ACL surgery about 7 weeks ago. The Med Vet facility was very quick to get her in when she tore her ACL tendon, infact we were in surgery with Dr. Barnhart the day after the consultation. He was very Communicative in answering our questions and telling us what to expect. He did an excellent job! He called us right after surgery and told us how it went. He also included in the package a free consultation with Physical therapy. Now after four weeks of therapy Maggie is almost back to normal

I DO NOT like the way they put you in an exam room then come in and take your pet away. You sit there with no communication for hours alone in a room. The last time I was there with a cat they tried to return a dog to me and then a cat

My dog Venus had surgery June 2012 she is about 9 weeks out from TTA on both knees. Dr. Matthew Barnhart performed the surgery. She is doing well she still has some more recovery time but she is walking, swimming and jumping on the couch now. The staff and Dr. Barnhart have been wonderful. They treated Venus as if she was theres. They hugged and petted her. They called me right after the surgery, the day after surgery and a few times there after. The clerks that check you in and even the finance person were caring and compassionate. We also did 8 sessions of Rehab and Physical therapy and again all the staff made me feel as if they cared as much about Venus as I did. They called me each day she had Rehab and gave me an update on how she was doing. They spent about 10 minutes when I picked her up going over everything and easing my concerns. MedVet has excellent staff.

I don't get how they have such a low rating. They're an incredible facility with knowledgeable staff! Yes, their prices are high, but they are an emergency vet facility. Both times we've had emergency situations with our dogs, the staff

Outstanding facility. We took our 8 year old daschund, Oscar, to the center on June 28th. Paralyzed due to a ruptured disc in his neck. Today he's walking, running and playing again! We're so grateful to Dr. Dudley and his team for restoring Oscar's ability to walk. Everyone was attentive and caring. They took countless calls from me the few days after he came home easing my fears with his recovery care. A month prior to Oscar's injury his sister Myuh was bleeding internally and they saved her life. I can not express how grateful I am to still have them in my life.
