Contrary to the other reviews I think this museum is a breeze to get to, just take the GWB and head north on the Henry Hudson Parkway 5 minutes until the entrance to Fort Tryon Park, keep going up and you are there. Interesting, views, love the courtyards and the tapestries.

This museum is not easy to get to, and it's not cheap. But it is worth it. In fact, you don't even have to pay admission to go inside the museum; you can just take in the views of Fort Tryon Park without paying any admission. However, the museum is worth visiting just to go inside the medieval themed building (of course it was not really built in medieval times). They also have concerts there which I have not gone to but I have heard they are a wonderful experience.

It's far enough north on Manhattan to qualify for a day trip, but The Cloisters is absolutely worth the effort involved in getting there. The museum houses Medieval Art, and has several chapels that have been sent over, brick by brick, from Europe. Fort Tryon Park, surrounding it, is equally beautiful
