You should always adopt. However, before you introduce your animals to other animals, or children, you should get them fully tested. We adopted a kitten from Mile Hi in June and found out that she had Feline Leukemia in November and had to put her to sleep. It was heart breaking. She had had all of her shots and boosters and was only indoors so we can only think she had it from birth from her mother. I don't know that the shelter could have done anything differently, and I'm not sure we still wouldn't have adopted our beautiful kitten. I think if we had known we could have been more vigilant in watching her health and take steps earlier to help her before it was too late.

I've meant for sometime to express my appreciation for the extremely helpful ladies who facillated my husband & I adopting a wonderful 3-4 yr old mix dog from this shelter. They paved the way for us to become acquainted with her over night to see if she as well as we blended well. Mitzi is such a dear member of our family now & I'm thankful for the care they gave to her & to us in this adoption last fall. Thank you for caring for other four legged 'friends' who are in need as well. You did great job for us so keep it up for others!

We used Mile-hi for boarding our dog many many many times! The staff was always willing to work with us to make room for our dog. They even had a groomer come in certain days to groom the pets also.
Our dog always seemed happy to go there and the price was right!

Mile Hi Humane Society is a great shelter. The staff is friendly and helpful, and there is a large fenced yard to take your potential dog in so you can play with him/her.
The animal cages are in need of repair, and some of them I didn't trust to stay closed, but the procedures in place for adoption are second to none.
We adopted a stray male mutt, who we named Buddy. They told us he was very friendly, and loved to play ball. We played with him two different days in the fenced yard, and fell in love with him. They recommended him for our family of six. He has been a great dog, and we couldn't be happier with him.
There is an application to fill out, and adoption fee that includes microchipping and spay/neutering. They also have crates you can have for a "donation."
Great place!

PROS: Great play area where you can get to know the dogs.
CONS: Cage latches are in need of repair.
