For a local and small zoo, I think you get your money's worth. You can see the entire zoo in just a few short hours. There is a childrens section along with a petting zoo. My only thing is the zoo is closed December through the end of February. With the temperatures here in Maryland I don't see the need for it. Oh for those of you who have never been the hours are kind of short even for the warmer months, the zoo only operated 10-4 everyday.

We saw every animal that you would expect to see at a zoo. The most memorable animals were the energetic zebras, observant ostriches, and affectionate monkeys. My son enjoyed this zoom, and it was affordable and not as crowded because it is pretty big. Only con was finding parking.

Ratings_icons fun in winter

We've been to the Baltimore Zoo many time but our most memorable visit was after a big snow in the winter. The kids were little and an bored so we went to the zoo and we were the only family there for the first couple of hours! Many of the animals came over to see us at the fence---guess they were bored, too? It was a lot of fun to have the whole place to ourselves. On the way out we saw another family entering.

Ratings_icons not worth the money

I have been to this zoo several times in the past 10 years, and it hasn't improved. Most of the exhibits are hard for kids in a stroller to see,so I suggest waiting until they are a little older. If your in the mood for a real experience go to the National Zoo in Washington,DC,its a much better zoo. But if your not in the mood for the drive and the kids need a day out,try this zoo. Make sure to pack drinks and food in a cooler, the prices are outrageous in the park.

Ratings_icons Ok at best!

Recently visited the new and improved zoo and was not too impressed! First of all it wasn't cheap! There were bees everywhere so you couldn't eat lunch or go near a waste can. There were a lot of kids groups but they were really poorly supervised, I wish the zoo would plan better for groups. There was plenty of parking but not ona paved lot. Next time it's the Washington D.C. Zoo for me since this one was not that impressive. Even the kids were not real impressed with the zoo which says a lot!

Ratings_icons Great Local Zoo

Located a few minutes from the Inner Harbor, this zoo has a lot to offer the young and old. The one obstacle I find is that the zoo is very hilly and it can be hard to walk up and down it all day. They restarted the tram which helps getting around the zoo much easier. The new poar bear exhibit is exciting and amazing to visit. I really like the penguin exhibit, especially when it's feeding time. The trainers are very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend visiting this zoo!

The city and state really have been working hard to improve this zoo. The attractions are nice and offer a better setting for the animals. It's great to be a member and bring the kids by regularly. Closer than the National Zoo.

PROS: Free parking

Ratings_icons Nice but not spectacular

Michelle H. | insider Insider | Rank: 20,053

This zoo is nice enough, especially for the price, but not really spectacular. It has a few interesting things and is still a good outing for the kids. Parking is free.

PROS: Not too expensive.
CONS: Not very big as zoos go.

Ratings_icons Bigger and Better in Baltimore!

Cynthia D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,358

The Baltimore Zoo is by far one of the best zoos in America. Voted the best Children's Zoo in 2004, this zoo offers more activities and special features that all of Baltimore's attractions combined! From polar bears to snakes, boardwalk adventures to crawling through tortoise shells, this zoo will make visiting this section of Baltimore worth the while! Slightly expensive, so purchasing a membership has its rewards. The food/beverages however, are not expensive. Parking is plenty, but the location of the zoo can be a bit dangerous at night being that it is inner-city. Go during the day and enjoy walking the zoo's many hills! Parking is free.

PROS: Animal Variety/Activity-Special Feature Variety/Free Parking
CONS: Location/Price
