5 Stars: Looking for old records? (by Jaimi C.)

Cheapo Records in Central Square has a great selection of old records from 1960's psychedelic rock to disco to big band. The prices really are inexpensive. I love browsing through this store. It's a bit dingy, but fun. The staff is quite knowlegable and helpful in finding what I am looking for. It is a great place to find music for kids who are into vinyl to disco for my mom to grandparents who love Tommy Dorsey. Usually, I do not have trouble parking near the store, but it's also located right near a T stop.

PROS: Great selection for such a small place
CONS:

3 Stars: Less CDs, More Records (by Brooke B.)

If you are in the market for a quality record, this might be a good place to start your search. This store has more records than I've seen in one place in quite a awhile. If you have a bag larger than a purse, you do have to check it in when you enter, which made me nervous to leave it with a stranger behind the counter, but there was no issues when it was returned. There is a small collection of cds, but I wouldn't go here for a newly released cd, you probably wouldn't find it. There's also a limited collection of cheap vhs tapes in the back.

5 Stars: Cheapo (by Kristen G.)

Great selection. Very low prices. You might think that because they are so cheapo they might not have a good selection, but that is not the case. The selection is just as good as any other discount record store. I would suggest checking it out next time you are in the market for a CD, but want to keep costs to a minimum.

4 Stars: record store in Central (by Michael N.)

Cheapo Records announces itself to Central Square with its large circular neon sign and loud funky music blaring out of speakers mounted above its doorway. Taking the stairs underground you find a room stuffed with old vinyl. They have some selection at decent prices and the people who work there know their stuff.

4 Stars: Stands Up to The Name (by Anne B.)

I usually shop at place like Cheapo Records and Nuggets, but I started wondering if their prices were all that different than bigger stores, like Newbury Comics, etc. OMG, there is a large difference. I typically buy CD's here for about 10 dollars, if that. I do not buy mainstream artists, though so I thought the independent labels would be just as cheap everywhere. It is not the case. If you want to buy any CD's, definitely come to places like this. Do not overpay.

4 Stars: Cheapo Records in Central Square (by Jake T.)

Cheapo Records is in Central Square. There isn't really any parking, just like most places in Central Square. They have a really large collection of new and used vinyl. Some sections of the store are a bit disorganized. There is also a nice sized selection of CD's. A lot of them are obscure and not mainstream.
