Last week, my husband and I went to Sutherland's to purchase a picnic table for a wedding present. It was loaded into the back of our pickup from the store's lumberyard. It was in pieces ( to be built by owner) wrapped in cardboard and secured. We did not not unload it to examine it.The next day I drove two and a half hours to another town to deliver it, and was extremely upset when I gave it, along with an umbrella and other outdoor picnic equipment and saw the condition of the table top. It was scuffed up on the top and torn up on the side. The recipients of the gift were also embarrassed and said they would turn the top over, which woud leave holes on the exposed top. Two days later , I returned to the store in question to explain the situation to the store manager. I was shocked at his response and lack of concern for the customers situation. He stated that they had no control over the condition of products that they purchase from other companies. Isn't that where most of their goods come from-other companies? And isn't it more important that the goods they sell should meet their standards? This is one unsatisfied customer who will NEVER again walk into that Sutherlands store.

The Store in Sierra Vista has big management problems and it trickles down to powerless employees who need a job. The store manager is not a person who should have any authority over anyone as he is a control freak beyond what a manager should be. Over the past 7 years I only go into the store on weekends when the manager is not there. When I have went in during the week Joe (Manager) has been in the back room of the store(By Lumber) very loudly yelling and humiliating helpless employees. This is emotional abuse. How is an employee suppose to work to their best abilities going to a job like that. It was embarrassing just being in earshot. He ranted on like a spoiled child that didn't get his way. I go there for convenience only at this point and go to Lowes during the week. I have a small remodeling company and do not want to put my employees in a bad spot when they need something. I feel bad for the employees. In this town Joe has a reputation for belittling employees.

I am a local flooring contractor and had to obtain a lot of laminate flooring material. I had been shopping around and had or thought I had found the low price. I found a similar (match) to the product I had found elsewhere. The one Sutherlands had in stock was more pleasing to the eye . I explained my delima to Kevin (Sutherlands Sales Rep). He gladly said '" I will not only match their price I will beat it ". I was very happy about this and recommend all home improvement needs to be bought from them. Thanks to Sutherlands and high five to Kevin too...

@ jose a. - This particular store is one of the best around. Sutherlands does not set the 'policy' for returns on Debit or Credit card purchases. The government does. The burden is on YOU to know something about dogs and collars.
The only question is how come you didn't have your Debit card, and do you have any identification? You cannot blame the store for your inability to produce proper I.D. That IS why we have I.D. theft, idiot.

I went into Sutherlands at 7909 Camp bowie west in fort worth texas 76116 this morning to return a dog collar which I purchased on 6/5/20010 with my debit card. when I returned it today 6/13/2010 They insisted it had to be put back on my card When I told Jana Smith (office mgr)I did not have the card and It could not go on that card she told me she could do nothing so I asked for another manager when she came back with Kevin Vest ( commercial sales ) who had access to my entire credit card number and just put it on a card WITHOUT my authorization or signature. With idenity theft on such a incline why do they have access to my account number so easy that a commercial sales employee hasaccess to my personal information? Protect your self and shop else where. I did not even have to show an ID. Anyone with a reciept can access youre accout from this store.

and hardware. Their employees are very
helpful and knowledgable. They will assist
you in any way they can. They can special
order lumber or often cut it to size for you.

Healthy Plants and great finds U wont see at lowes and Home depot.. they have some of the older type tools i havent been able to find.. also unique things there.. Like a old fashion lumber yard.. I bought my tomato plants there this year..was great.. I already have tomatoes..I enjoy the homey atmostphere of this place.. service was great too.. very friendly people..

PROS: Hard to find items..
CONS: maybe a little pricey on some things
