This farm offers a great day trip for families. They have a lot of regular farm animals which children can see up close. They have rabbits which children can hold and pet. They have rescued dogs and cats. Several times a day they do shows and the one with the dogs is very cute. They also have a farm play area for children. The kids loved climbing through the barn and swinging into the hay loft. This is a little ways outside of St. Louis but it was definitely worth the trip.

This is a great place to take the kids- and it's free. We went on a day where there was a field trip going on so it was crowded. The place is pretty big though, so it wasn't too bad. My son loved the animals.

This is a animal farm that does tours and teaches about animal farm life. It is a very large area with lots of different farm animals to look at. The baby pigs are a favorite. A tour guide will show you around and give lots of animal facts. Because of school field trips here in spring and fall this place can get very crowded.

During the special event times of the year, Purina Farms comes to life with barnyard animals, performing dogs, a VERY mild "haunted house" that isn't spooky even for a toddler (no masks or scary images at all), and lots of fun, fun, fun. Reservations are required, though, so call ahead.

Once again this is one of those places that I had no idea really what to expect. Now I cannot get there often enough for my own benefit as well as my kids. There is so much to do and see here. They have big brightly colored displays and live shows with dogs performing tricks. Even a playground area for the kids to have fun in, and a small petting zoo.

This is one of our favorite places to go as a family. And the best part is it is all free!

This is owned by Purina, the large pet food company. It's an area with many domestic animals and they often have major dog competitions here as well. They have obedience shows, grooming demonstrations, hands-on petting of dogs and cats for the kids, and you can even milk a cow.

I believe that admission is free but don't quote me on that. You'll have to check.

Purina Farms is about 25 miles west of the 270/44 interchange in St. Louis, so plan for that travel time.

Purina Farms is a very education and wonderful place to experience with your kids. Animal lovers will really enjoy this experience. Plus, it's a very relaxed environment.

The kindergarten class went and had a lot of fun here. There were a ton of other schools and some had very big kids attending, I didn't like that much with the KG classes but what could you do. They got to actually milk a cow! How exciting. They got to pet different animals and they had hand santizier as you exited the petting area, we saw a dog show and then got to go to the dog and cat house and met the stars of the show. We also went on a hay ride. I am sure there was more to do there but we ran out of time to do it all.
