I have been seeing Dr. Haley for over 6 months and have begun to feel uncomfortable with his services. Though we was very responsive when we started I began having complications with my medications and grew completely unresponsive. I tried calling him 3 times in which I was instructed by his staff that he would return my call and never heard back from him. I had to decide for myself to stop taking the medication. His staff is completely impolite and flat out rude at times but you don't have to trust me on that one. Make one appointment with him and you'll see what I mean. Slowly I've grown to be untrusting of Dr. Haley and his staff and have decided to see someone else in a more professional setting.

He is a matter of fact physician who is very skilled in prescribing medications. I have struggled with clinical depression since 1994 and worked with several physicians. He is the first that described to me how the medications worked and actually prescribed one that worked for me. I haven't felt this good in years.

At first I found Dr. Haley to be very helpful. He seemed to genuinely care and took alot more time with me than alot of psyhciatrists would. However, over the next few months months, I began to feel like his personal bias was interfering with treatment. I think he got offended by my views on certain issues, because he started acting really nasty during our sessions. It became more and more unpleasant until finally I called his office and left a message saying I wanted to tentatively cancel because I didn't feel safe with him anymore. He never called me back, so that sort of clinched it. To be honest I don't think he's a very stable person. He can be very nice, but he can be awful if you get on his bad side. I would hesitate to recommend him.

I had pretty much given up on the psychiatric industry community. All of the previous doctors had tried to categorize my condition to one specific diagnosis and ignore certain symptoms. Dr Haley was the only doctor to really listen, diagnose outside of the box and convey a genuine sense of empathy. He also reached out to my psychologist to discuss my condition, which is a surprisingly rare event. His staff is very responsive and friendly and I have never had to wait longer than a few minutes past my scheduled appointment.

A superb, caring, doctor. I've spent many years in a combat zone (retired military) and had actually reached a point where I was faily well done with this exsitance. Only thing holding me back was my family. Then I lost my job over a "force" reduction. (More like a take this offer and leave or we'll fire you) The anger had reached a breaking point. The good Doc pulled me back and brought me a sense of relief and calmness I hadn't experienced in years. The best way I can think of to compliment him is to say if it was ever needed, I'd have his six.

Wonderful, knowledgeable doc. Excellent with meds. I've had clinical depression all my adult life and it wasn't (after many docs) until I met Greg that my meds finally helped me deal with my depression. He listens and is caring. Not your typical doctor!
Highly recommend.

I've been seeing Dr. Haley since 2004, for bipolar disorder. He has helped me immeasurably. A great doctor, but more importantly, a decent, caring human being. We've recently moved to New Mexico but I'm keeping him as my psychiatrist for as long as I can. I consider him the best in his field and will remain eternally grateful for the life he has helped me rebuild.

Dr. Haley is a great physician. I saw him twice and he helped me with my issues through thoroughly studying my background. He is extremely approachable.

Dr. Haley is the best out there. A no-nonsense guy who listens and evaluates quickly and provides the type of treatment required. He is willing to work with you to get the best combination of medications to manage problem situations. I couldn't feel more fortunate to have him as my psychiatrist.

One of the few excellent doctors in the field around town. I'm glad he's my doctor. I saw many doctors before Dr. Haley and I appreciate how he was bold enough to see treatment wasn't working for me and do something about it. I'll be going back to him again after moving back in town because I trust him. But be honest about your feelings and what works and what doesn't or it doesn't help either of you fix the problem.

Message from Alianza: Healthy Thinking: Gregory Haley, MD

Dr. Gregory Haley believes in forming a real alliance with his patients at Alianza Healthy Thinking in Scottdale, Georgia. He collaborates with them to understand their challenges and goals, then creates a customized treatment that incorporates medications and psychotherapy for each of them.

Dr. Haley offers psychiatric evaluation and medical management for the full range of psychological disorders. He also specializes in innovative treatments like transcranial magnetic stimulation for major depression, and he’s an in-office provider of SuboxoneⓇ for opioid addiction treatment.

Dr. Haley began his medical career in internal medicine, but during a rewarding rotation in the psychiatric crisis evaluation department at Wishard Memorial, he admired how the doctors there helped distressed clients. He also realized he wanted to look at each patient as a whole person rather than a collection of lab tests.

As a result, Dr. Haley re-evaluated the path he wanted to take in medicine. He applied and was accepted for a position in the University of Southern California’s Psychiatric Residency Program. After one year, and missing his family, he transferred back home and completed his training at the Indiana University psychiatric residency program.

Dr. Haley spent his first four years as a psychiatrist working at the company that became BehaviorCorp in Carmel, Indiana. For part of the week, he had his own practice, working with patients with mood, anxiety, and substance abuse disorders. The rest of the week, he worked at the company’s day treatment clinic for clients with intense and chronic mental illness.

He eventually moved to Atlanta, following his family and to escape the bitter Indiana winters. He worked with a mental health center in Athens and Monroe, then briefly with a local private practice before striking out on his own to establish Alianza Healthy Thinking with Elle Trapkin, LCSW.

One of the things Dr. Haley liked best about BehaviorCorp was its informal and homelike atmosphere and how staff and clients intermingled at lunches and events. Dr. Haley and Ms. Trapkin wanted their practice to have the same warm, welcoming feeling that he valued at BehaviorCorp, and based on feedback, they’ve succeeded.

Dr. Haley’s dog, Rex, is with him every day at the office, where they sit in on any session in which they’re welcomed by the clients. Dr. Haley and Rex invite you to come in and let them help make a treatment alliance that will help you.
