Dr. Smith, better known as "Penny," is a special person. Unfortunately, she seems unable to juggle the demands of her practice, and twice I fell through the cracks. I saw her from 1988 until 1999. In 1992, as I was experiencing clinical depression, I found myself suddenly unable to reach her or get a response even from office staff. I never received a letter or phone call or any other communication. After two and a half years, when my depression had become worse, I contacted her again and she said she had had cancer and hadn't been able to tend to her practice. Because I didn't want to have to start fresh with someone and because I felt like we had a good rapport, I returned to her for another four years or so and was being prescribed medication. In 1998, I went through a separation that ended up lasting three years and my depression became so severe that several times I had to be driven to her office by family members. In the winter of 1999, I found myself unable to schedule an appointment and had to go more than two months before I could see her again. I went without medication for several days because I could not get a response to requests for refill authorization. She admitted to dropping the ball and asked me to "stay" but I found another doctor. I sent her an e-mail about it several months later and received no reply, but she did communicate with a member of my family about it without my consent. I have all of this documented, but too much time has passed to file a formal complaint. It's frustrating because you find someone you trust and then suddenly they drop the ball professionally and it's like the rug is pulled out from under you. And never once did she put in writing that she was severing the doctor-patient relationship. She simply stopped responding.

PROS: sympathetic, kind
CONS: disorganized practice, drops ball with patients

My older cousin had to go here because she was having some problems with her self worth but when she left here she was very much in touch with herself. They turned her into a completley different person. She was very happy and loved everything there was to love. She even talks about it like it was nothing. This place really helps people.
