I have been a member of the Berkeley YMCA for many years.

The facilities are good.

I wish they were open more hours and was less expensive.

If I were a student on the campus of the university of california at berkeley, I would certainly not go to the YMCA, simply because the facilities on campus are better and closer.

I've been to them all...YMCA's all over the state and 24hr fitness. This YMCA has been the best of them all. It is cheap compared to the for profit chains. There are a good number of classes avaliable if you want to take them. The workers are friendly. The facilities are clean. There is a lot of equipment. Even the people here are great. I regularly play in pick up basketball games with people I meet on the court. Everyone should check it out. BTW, there is also a woman's YMCA right across from campus.

Clean, modern and inexpensive-- the YMCA is everything every other gym is not. (And I thought YMCAs were supposed to be disgusting?!) There are three--count them--pools, co-ed gyms and even women's only workout rooms, a children's facility and even saunas. The staff is friendly, the towels are clean, and don't even get me started on the swimsuit drying centrifuge...
