Ya know...I received a notebook computer as a gift and I think the same thing happened to me. When I attempted to register my serial number it stated that it would not take. Is Circuit City scamming before selling "new for used" merchandise? On top of that the service was 100% aweful over the phone when trying to call. I was on hold and passed around for 30 minutes and still did not get through - not even to a manager. When in the store, the merchandise was totally unorganized (cd's) and choices were VERY limited. I know we are shopping online more these days, but for those who still have to make purchases IN stores available and knowledegable staff has to be present. These are thousand dollar ticket items not purchased at the local 99 cents store
Get your stuff together CC!!!

I was dealing with the Circuit City store in Gaithersburg, Maryland (yesterday, April 15, 2008) who tried to sell me an HP open box laptop which included the HP warranty, that they stated was a store demo. When I had the salesman check with HP about the machine, it had already been registered by a customer, back in May, 2007. IT THEREFORE HAD NO WARRANTY. AN ATTEMPTED FRAUDULENT SALE?? COULD BE. STAY AWAY FROM CIRCUIT CITY. THEY CERTAINLY PISSED ME OFF. I'LL NEVER TRUST THEM OR THEIR SALES PEOPLE AGAIN!

This store is large and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the electronics they sell. Make sure to check the website for rebate items before you go.
