Ratings_icons Grocery store above the rest

The fresh grocer is a grocery store with class. They look like a regular grocery store but they are stocked with high end merchandise. They have a great variety of organic foods and well known brands. They also have a fully stocked salad bar and lunch station. I love their soups its a great alternative to the burgers for lunch. The prices are a little higher than normal grocery stores but the quality is worth it.

Ratings_icons Good Prices, Presentation and Service

Jatu B. | insider Insider | Rank: 32,571

The prices, presentation, service, everything is wonderful. They do not even try to overcharge their customers to compensate for the high cost they pay for setting their store in University City. I love shopping here. Parking is not even that difficult. If you take a trip here, dont be surprised if you go over your budget because there are so many things you will see and want to take home with you that was not on your list.

Fresh Grocer has an excellent location and always has available parking in their parking garage. The staff is always willing to assist you in any way they can. Plus they usually have delicious baked goods for their snack- hungry customers.

Ratings_icons great city market

RObert N. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,180

This is the one market that I have found that is pretty much "in the city" Most of the markets in the city are smaller markets which cannot provide as much value as the big chains.

Fresh Grocer is a big (national?) chain. The prices there are not as good as ACME, or ShopRite, but they are in that range.

Also, there is free parking if you spend $10+. The parking is in a garage above the store, and they validate your card. Sometimes I have parked there, even when going somewhere else and just bought something at the market to get the free parking. $10 for parking in the city is a pretty good deal.

Ratings_icons Nice, but pricey

Adua T. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,020

I'm guessing that because this grocery store is located in the University area, it is assumed that students have money. However, the nice thing is that this grocery store, with it's Cafe and different stations of delicious foods makes this store a very nice one indeed. There is a sushi area, a bakery and a deli (where they make the largest most delicious hoagies) I recommend shopping at this or onw of the many other Fresh Grocers. (If you go to the hot foods area, try the Bufallo Chicken Wings!)

Ratings_icons Upscale But Reasonable

John V. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,587

This Fresh Grocer was built in 2001. It's considered part of the 40th and Market shops in West Philly surrounding the Penn campus. The prices are decent and it's cleaner on the inside than a lot of the grocery stores in the same vicinity.
