I really wish that I could do more than just leave a review like this. But since the issue is with my deceased father there is not much else that I can do. He was a long time customer of Airtron. He passed away in February of this year in a house fire. During the rebuilding process I have learned that Airtron sold my elderly father a heat pump unit that was far too large for the house. He had the unit serviced every year and I assume that someone must have told him that the previous unit was bad, even though it was not all that old. I remember when it was replaced and it was not over 6 years old!!! It's obvious to me that Airtron took advantage of him and sold him something he didn't need. I live in another state and, not having been there, I can't say for certain that there was nothing wrong the previous unit. But still, they did not need to sell him something he did not need! No one in the neighborhood has a heat pump near this big!!! And there are many homes larger than his!!!
I called Airtron earlier this year and a woman got snotty with me on the phone. She said their service people never do things like this, that they have an A+ rating with the BB and are on Angie's list. Well, I've had dealings with companies before that have had similar ratings and they've been some of the most rotten people I've ever come to know!!! Those ratings say very little as far as I'm concerned! And seeing the previous posts tells me that I'm correct! I just hope that a little thing called Karma comes around for a visit with Airtron and the people responsible!

The only company with 16 complaints with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) in just 12 months and they wouldn't get a price estimate to replace one part in my furnace. They said, we'll come out and give you a price and if it's too high, we'll charge you $89 just for coming to your home. Personally, I want some idea what I'm going to be charged before I guarantee to pay someone to come to my home!

I just wonder if several of the reviews below were written by an Airtron competitor because I have used this company for the better part of 10 years and I can certainly speak to their integrity. They always go over the estimate with me before they do any work. I have never been surprised and I can tell you that they do great work for a great value.

I was looking into a new heating/AC system and the sales guy came and looked around and proposed a system. He came back with his quote and what it included. A total rip-off! He wanted to install multiple units, which is fine. But the way he wanted to do it would cost me $20k for upstairs, $25k downstairs and another $31k for a solar bank! I could replace everything I have now with other energy efficient units for $21k with 5 other contractors!

I called Airtron at 12:30pm on the 25th of August to request them the check out our Bryant air conditioner. On my initial call the CSR tried to pressure me into signing up for the Essential Service Protection, I declined. According to my wife the technician arrived around 2:10pm and had the unit repaired by 2:25pm. I asked my wife to give the phone to the technician and get a description of the repair. Initially he mentioned a bad capacitor was replaced and the only thing left to do was to decide if we wanted the $433 charge ($174 service fee and $254 part fee) that included the essential service or the $388( $89 service charge and $299 part charge) for service without the essential service protection. I did not want the essential service protection and told him to charge us the lower amount. After getting off the phone I asked a contractor we use at work how much a capacitor part would cost, and I was told around $30. When I got home I checked the service ticket for the part number (P291-455-4RS) and searched in Google and found the part is $38 at Shorty HVAC supplies, 7720 Mooresville Rd, West Newton, IN Phone 317.821.8770 , Here is the specific link http://shortyshvac.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1405. I called and spoke with Bill Gull the service manager at Aitron and asked for an explanation of why I was charged $299 for a $38(retail) part. At Berkheimer a local HVAC parts wholesaler the part lists for $16.95 wholesale. He told me the markup was for the truck, delivery, overhead etc. I told him I can fully understand the overhead, truck and delivery could be included in the $89 per hour labor cost but could not understand a 1700% markup on the part. I complained the part was replaced then we were presented the bill afterwards. The Mr. Gull was very curt and bragged about Airton's A+ rating and specified who to call at the BBB locally.

Airtron has provided heating and cooling maintenance services for 5 years. I have found the service people to be very dependable, polite, personable, and professional.
5This past winter our furnance quit working, of course after business hours! We called Airtron and in about an hour or so we has two very professional technicians finding and fixing the problem. Great work!
5We use them for all our heating and cooling needs. They are very professional and will try to save you money if they can. They respond very quickly to your problems and can sometimes even send someone out the same day.
