DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Especially for marble - its so variable and low quality, don't chance it. And they will NOT let you open the boxes to look at what you purchase. They patrol like the place like you are purchasing gold or something. The employees are irritated when you are ready to check out or if you ask a question. One of the employees (the big guy) in particular is very crabby and straight up mean. I would not recommend this place because they treat their customers bad.

I made a mistake and made a large purchase there and wasted a lot of money because half of the tile was not able to be able to be used. One full box of tile that I purchased had broken tiles that were glued back together and very poor quality. They try and tell you that is how it comes and will NOT return it or exchange it. So, basically you are stuck with what you get. BEWARE OF TILE OUTLET IN CHICAGO - ripoff!

It is cheaper, but you get what you pay for!

I would avoid this place unless you are actually a contractor or can bring your contractor with you at the time of purchase. We bought the amount of tile recommended to us by the sales person at the store to tile our kitchen floor. We ended up with seven boxes of extra tile worth about $350 with taxes. But, because of their natural stone return policy, the store is refusing us a refund.

What is the most dishonest about this is that when I called to ask the store manager, the sales lady claimed that we asked for that much extra. As if I knew anything about tile to prompt me to disagree with her suggestion and insist on buying more tile.

If you are seriously considering buying tile here, you might want more of these details: The sales person told us we needed so much over our literal square footage because we were doing the tile at a 45-degree angle, and that we should have enough so that we wouldn't have to buy more (natural stone should all be from the same lot, etc.). At the end of the project, we had seven extra boxes, totalling about 50% more tile than we ever needed.

To be misadvised is one thing, but to lie to save your own behind is another. I would not trust these sales people again, and have clearly not realized any "savings" from going to the tile outlet.

We looked at Home Depot for marble and Tile Outlet LTD (Tile Outlet Limited) at 2434 Fullerton Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647 had a much better selection for reasonable prices. We have shopped there several times and contractors have recommended Tile Outlet for the probably the best prices so we went in good faith with a good attitude to make a $200 purchase on Christmas Eve 2008.

Earlier we called and asked how late the store would be open and were told 3 PM so we arrived at 1 o??clock so we would have plenty of time to shop for a $200 purchase. We were to only customers in the store and the 8 or so employees were tossing around a football to kill time until closing. After we brought several selections of tiles to the counter we needed about 20 more pieces of upscale marble to complete our purchase.

We selected several and wanted a similar footprint on the tiles since they were being installed on the front mantle of a new exotic fireplace. We opened a few boxes to select the final 20 tiles and were told that we cannot open the boxes, and that we have to buy full boxes only unopened.

Tile Outlet LTD receipts state ??Please inspect before installation. Variations are inherent in his product. Customer is directed to select several samples from each box of the actual job lot and then determine if product is acceptable before installation? That is what we did as per agreement.

At exactly 2:40 the manager turned off the lights in the store and we could not see what we were selecting. No further words were exchanged but their body language was that we were no longer welcome, so we quickly brought our final tiles to the counter and politely asked to add up our purchase and paid cash without a ??Thank You? or any eye contact from the employee.

They quietly and quickly loaded the tiles in our car without a word. I said ??thank you? and was going to give a tip to the young man who helped us as I always do, but he just walked away and locked the door to the store.

My review would be that you will probably get a quality product from the store as long as you don??t expect them to accept any returns and are prepared to be treated badly.

I went to Tile Outlet and an associate told me that the 12" honed and filled light travertine was only $2/sq.ft because the boxes were water damaged in it's sea crate. I wouldn't buy that knowing it could crumble. He also showed me other varieties and showed me the difference, noting the vast improvement of a good stock of light travertine and a poor one. I ended up going with an Alabama rustic 16". Beautiful! Ask an associate, they know what they're talking about!

Of the 1000 sqft of travertine I bought here, 200sqft was broken and had been glued back together and repackaged. Additionally, it was very poorly filled. Their return policy says it all!

I got a great deal on tiles from this place. They have so many tiles to choose from and they can fit almost any price range as well. And if you're planning on putting in the tiles yourself, make sure to ask the sales people for a free pamphlet filled with lots of tips, techniques, and tricks.

We went here to find some kitchen tiles and were very pleased with their selection and prices. They have a great selection of tiles and a great stock. If they don't have something in stock, they are always happy to order for you. Their prices are also really great.

During the condo remodeling we shopped around a lot for tile. Tile Outlet consistently had the best selection (HUGE warehouse full of tile choices) and the best prices. We made several purchases here. Don't be intimidated when you first walk in because it's big, and definitely not all fluffy and cute - but you will appreciate this when you pay just $3/sq ft for the exact same tile that your contractor will sell you for $10/sq ft. Oh, and the guys on the sales floor are extremely helpful.
