I have frequented this place several times trying to grasp why people go back. The place is dirty, the kitchen is a disaster, and the food is inconsistent. Ralph the owner is rude, just plan rude. I can not understand why people put up

I have to agree with Ralph (the owner) having an attitude and being rude. Haven't been to that place since like 5 years for that reason...

My father is from New York, my Wife is from New York, and I visit both her and my family in New York (both in the city and out in the burbs) at least once a year and the guy running this place doesn't deserve to call it a New York Pizzeria.

People who aren't from New York or have never been there think that you get and "abusive attitude" from New Yorkers and that is BS. I've been to many pizza places in and around the city and yeah folks there expect that you will be direct and to the point but in no way do I or my family tolerate piss poor customer service because contrary to popular belief folks in restaurants there are nice. If they aren't, guess what; THEY GO OUT OF BUSINESS!

If you put this restaurant in the city it would go out of business in a month! New Yorkers aren't stupid; they don't tolerate passable food and sh@#y service. From a restaurant perspective it really is survival of the fittest there and this place would be tiger food.

The last time I went there I got three pies when my wife's parents came and they (being food snobs) said the pizza was "okay". Rock Creek Pizza really is far superior and it's only 5 miles toward superior. Friendly staff and the best pizza in Broomfield/Superior we've had so far. I will never go back here again and if given the chance would vote for this place to be on "Kitchen Nightmares".

This was the most incredible pizza I've had since coming to Colorado and I can't get enough. You'll see me in there, eatin' pizza, cuttin' up with Ralph while he's sitting with me at my table! Ralph and Carmela are 2 of the most kind-hearted people you'll ever encounter and I will continue to write good reviews and RAVE about this place for the rest of my life. GREAT SERVICE, BETTER PIZZA, LOVE YALL!

For a casual, easy going time out with family and friends Original NY Style Pizza is it. Very busy Friday and Saturday nights, so patience is a virtue. Typical NY attitude, which is loads of fun when you play it up.

If you want an attitude from the guy behind the counter and you want to be abused and belittled, this is the place to go. Be on your toes and walk on eggshells because the insults will take you off guard if you're not ready for them. Oh, and the pizza is bland. The only way you'll think this is NY Pizza is if you've never had pizza in NY. Go to Original Pizza if you think you deserve to be treated like dirt. Go somewhere else if you want at least average pizza and service.

Far from anything resembling original New York style pizza. They don't even use fresh garlic, it tasted like old garlic from a jar and sprinkled on top of the pizza. Yuk.

I'm a Jersey Girl, transplanted to Colorado in 1975. Have been hunting for great pizza for years and found it at Original NY Pizza. Thin crust, sauce with just enough kick and yummy melted cheese on top. We like our crust a little crispy so we always request a little extra time. Have come to know Ralph and Carmella well over the years. Ralph is NY gruff on the outside, marshmallow sweet on the inside with a mischeivous sense of humor-just look at his eyes when he asks you an obvious question. Carmella works hard always but take a minute to ask her about her grandkids and she lights up. Food is great, true NY family owned business. We wish them all the best and hope we can enjoy thier pizza for many years ahead.

Pros: Best Pizza in Denver Metro

Cons: Could lose the statue fountain out front

.

Terrible service, barely average food. Not worth the 45 minute wait. The staff were unfriendly and the pizza was not very good. I'm from the NY area and am used to grease, but this had very little flavor. I go to places first for service then for food. I will never go back to this place. Protos has better pizza and the best cannolis in the area.

It took well over an hour to get a pizza. They first said priority was being given to carry out orders; then said pizza order was marked as completed. When we finally got pizza it was burnt.

Pros: Nice atmosphere

Cons: Long wait and pizza burnt

Probably one of the most unpleasant lunch experiences I've had. The staff constantly belittled every customer as they ordered, and treated them as a burden when delivering their food. They hassled many guests about coupons, overcharged us for our food, and charged for drink refills. Our calzones were over-baked to the point that I just ate the inside and threw out the hard, burned crust. Maybe New York is known for attitude, but it seems they brought only the bad part of it to Colorado.

90% of my job is travel ALL over the country. I always make it a point to eat whatever the area I am in is famous for. When in Texas, TexMex, When in Oklahoma, Steak, When in Alabama BBQ, When in NY, always get pizza at least once. This pizza is hands down 100% NY pizza. It is excellent, to the point it is addictive. For 2008/2009 it was voted peoples choice #1 Pizza in Denver.

Pros: Excellent food consistently.

Cons: NY attitude seems to throw off the midwestern style folk in Colorado

As someone who lived in New Jersey a half hour from Manhattan for 19 years, I can say with confidence this is the real deal. The bad attitude is part of the whole experience. If you don't like it, go to Pizza Hut.

As for the workers who are upset, there comments should be removed. If you like working at a Pizza restaurant, it's not NY Pizza.

Well, the pie was pretty decent. I would give patronage to the place more if it weren't for the owner. I am echoing many people's comments, but he's just not exactly the person you want to be the dashing image of your business. From my experience, I had ordered a pizza and wanted dessert as well. When I asked for a piece of tiramisu, he said they were out of it. No problem, I thought. He then suggested a cannoli as a substitute and as I was deciding, he gave me the most rediculous "You know what those are, right?" I'm sorry, but this guy is a moron to assume I don't know what a cannoli is. I spent fours years of college right near Boston's North End so I'm no newby to italian food or gruff owners. The way he treats patrons is just too rediculous for Colorado so I would recommend doing what I am...not going there. What a pompous idiot.

Pros: Cannoli was actually tasty

Cons: Owner and the place looks rundown

.

"Forget about it".... I mean really forget about patronizing this place. The owner cops an attitude like someone forgot to tell him he was in Colorado. Between the owner's negative attitude towards coupons and credit card purchases less than $15 dollars save yourself the aggravation and time and go elsewhere.

The coupons are sent out on regularly basis but, the way staff acts, one would think someone was illegal printing them. They charge an extra and unreasonable amount of gratuity, if you use a coupon for eat-in service. They also dis-contently credit coupons if you call in an order but, forget to bring it in with you. And don't get me started on the attitude you catch if your total is less than $15 dollars. The owners is a real ball buster, even though the total is well above $15 dollars when you factor in tip.

My advise go elsewhere... the owner acts like he doesn't need the business so don't give it to him.

Food took way to long to heat up. Both the owner and his wife think they are still in New York. I tried to look them in the eye and smile and say thank you and they basically look away and grunt. Decent pizza, not great, boring decor, cold ambiance. You can tell they like themselves better than anyone else likes them.

This is the best Italian food that I've found in Colorado. It has a more traditional Italian taste, and some of the best pizza. They also serve canolis, the only place that I've found them in this area. The staff is friendly, and straight from New York. They also have really low prices and a really great wait staff.

Simply the best pizza I have had since I left New York. Polly-O ricotta in the shells and lasagna makes both A-1. Thanks, Ralph & Carmella, for a taste of Arthur Avenue in the boonies.

Being from N.J. I know what a good pie tastes like and Original Pizza is the best I've tasted out here. Forget about those fast food pizza places. This is the real deal. Ralphie may be a little rough at times, but hey, he's a New Yorker. He makes a mean pie and that makes up for it. Carmella is great and the rest of the staff are very enjoyable. Wheter you eat in or take out this place is sure to please your taste buds.
