We had a great time at the first settlement! The best part were the re-enactors who were very helpful in learning about life in 1670! From musket shooting to playing a form of tic-tac-toe, just like they used to do -- a great learning experience for all ages. The museum is wonderful for kids with hands-on buttons and questions. The animal section had some great shore birds, but the bear and bocats were hiding.

I love Charles Towne Landing. It is the site of the first settlement in South Carolina. The park is just filled with tons of open park areas for picnics and such, as well as a zoo that you walk through, an interpretive center, and a mock-up 1600's house and village to tour through. During the summer months, there are volunteers there that live and work in the village (not really) to give you an idea of what life was like during that time.

This is just loads of fun. I've been going to this park since I was a kid and it is just tons of fun. Not expensive at all and sadly missed by many Tourists. Or is that a good thing afterall???

Charles Towne Landing is wonderful historic site. You can see how the settlers lived before "Charleston" came to be as we know it. The very first settlers setteled here. There are tons of trails to explore and usually demonstrations there. This is just a great place to visit. Great for field trips, etc.

PROS: historic site
CONS: none
