This is a very popular tourist spot in Charleston. Its a long building full of stuff to buy! Everything you can dream is in that building. They have some permanent vendors at the beginning. One shop has really nice smocked children's dresses.

This place is great to just walk around, listening to the locals and watching the basket weavers. The item range from very cheap to very expensive. It can be really crowded at times and the "aisles" are very narrow, not good for people with small children

When Visiting Historic Downtown Charleston, a trip to the Old City Market is a must. Local vendors set up booths/tables and there is everything from Jewelry to food to clothing at the tables. And, like everything else in that immediate area, their main business is tourism (not locals) so prices are higher than you could pay if you shopped around. However, there are many booths with one of a kind items that you could only purchase in Charleston. Only if you just walk through it once, it is a major thing to see when you come. Slaves used to run the market and it is amazing that it is still there basically right where the slaves traded more than a hundred years ago. Parking is hard. Street parking and garages, so be prepared to pay to park.

PROS: a unique experience
CONS: expensive items
