I have been to this location twice. The first time was for a massage with a very odd woman-- but hey, who doesn't' love a massage!
So the second time, my husband sprang for a "day at the spa" gift for my birthday. It entailed: an hour-long massage, a facial, and a mani and pedi. You would think this would be a fabulous experience, right? Well the girl at the front desk was totally underwhelmed and couldn't find my reservation for a few minutes, then did... basically said here's your robe and off I went. She never mentioned the fact that I would be there all day, which I should have brought up because it became a problem later! What happened was: she should have asked for my lunch order, but didn't. I had a FANTASTIC massage from Carmen, and an equally good, (though an oversharer!) of a facial. I was told I had time to take a shower before lunch, then mani and pedi. But apparently this not getting my lunch order before threw the rest of my visit off. Plus the fact that they only have ONE shower, and someone was in it, meant I had to eat my lunch WHILE getting a manicure. ew! I felt like the water was getting into my salad. Plus, I noticed that their mani rates start at $50, and for what I got, I would rather get the usual $20 job at any place else. It really wasn't anything special. And from what the package costs, this is frankly not acceptable.
I should have spoken up, but didn't, because it was my birthday damnit and didn't want to get upset.
The only person I would recommend is Carmen for amazing deep tissue skills. Otherwise, this place is just a bit outdated and grungy, and for the love of God, get that other shower fixed. It's been broken since at least Feb 2008, that I know of!

STAY AWAY
by Anonymous
This was the worst experience I've ever had at a spa! My girlfriends and I got massages and the place is tiny & messy. Cups & Robes everywhere. There are only 2 showers (one was out of order) and few lockers. My massage therapist was very strange - wore a fedora hat during the 60 mins. I will never go back and unfortunatley will never go to a different Amadeus Spa.

This is not money well spent! I requested an full body massage and received only half. My legs didn't even get massage. I felt rushed when I went there to relax. I called to confirm my appointment and they had me down on the wrong day. I just felt like I was dealing with a bunch of amateurs. The maussuese seemed awkward and whimpy. I tried to explain I the touch and technique I like, but it wasn't taken into consideration. Find some other place to go for massage.
PROS: ??
CONS: waiste of money/you don't get what you want

BEST Hair colorist in L.A. - Ask for Engina
by coolpop
I moved to Florida about a year ago and still can't find anyone as good as Engina out here. I get my hair colored with her every chance I get when I am back in L.A. She is truly the best hair colorist I have ever been too. I have always had beautiful hair color and highlights thanks to Engina. People always compliment me on how great my hair looks. I highly recommend her services. She always understands what the client desires and knows how to achieve the best results.
Pros: great hair colorist

Great place to go to escape from reality
by BigRoger
Amadeus is a great place to go for massages. When you walk inside Its like you're entering a parallel universe -- peaceful, quiet, healing. I've had several different masseuses, all have been good. My only complaint is that I cant afford to go more often.
Pros: Great massages
Cons: A bit pricey

Anyone with a certificate & coupon, Make sure you READ this!
by yy621
Ok, I have never had such a need to write a review about any place before. In fact, I have never written a review before about anything. But this spa made me feel like I really have to write one to warn others. Sorry, but I have to give a little background first.
I reserved two treatments for my mom and myself, a massage and a facial. I received a weekly email from the company for a discount for both service. I wanted to treat my mom and didn't want her to know how pricey it would be, so I kinda lied to her and told her that I got a gift certificate from someone. I was going to go to the place to buy a certificate but decided to go on to the Amadeus website first. I was very happy to see that I was able to get an instant certificate online and not have to make a trip there.
I have to say the massage was great but I was a little disappointed with the facial. The facial suppose to last for one hour and 15 minutes. Towards the end of the facial, the beautician left the room for about 10 minutes, "to let me rest" as she said. I have had many facials at different spa, and I have never had anyone that actually leave the room during the service. Most will give a mini massage of arms, legs, and shoulder. So I was a little surprise. I thought it was only mine, but apparently my mom's also did the same thing. So I guess it's something that the beauticians at this spa do.
Now when it comes to checking out, this is the part that annoyed me the most. I gave the cashier the coupons for the service and also the gift certificate. She told me that I cannot use the gift certificate along with the coupons. I was like "what"??? It's a certificate!! She said the coupons said it cannot be used in conjunction with the certificate bought at spaboom. I was like I bought it directly at the Amadeus Spa website. Apparently, when you buy the instant certificate online, I guess the checkout process is actually done by spaboom.
Let me tell you, there's no indication what so ever on their site that said that. I read the terms and conditions before I purchased it. She said because it's "discounted". I paid FULL price for that certificate, not "discounted" like she said. But then she said because Amadeus needs to pay them some kind of charge for that service. What does that have to do with me???? Like I said, I paid full price. I was so upset. The only reason I even went to this spa is because of the coupon. She ended up giving me a two people discount for the services but still not as much as what it should have been with the coupon I bought.
With this experience, I will probably never go back to this spa again. It's a shame cause the massage was great. If not for that, I would definitely only give it a one star. If anyone wants to try out a spa, I will pick Burke Williams over this one for sure. Service and amenities are just wayyyyyy better.
Pros: Good Massage
Cons: Bad everything else

worst salon in pasadena
by brutusdog
This is a terrible salon, overpriced and elitist. The staff act like you are doing them a favor for paying money for their service. It is a training salon and they expect you to tip the assistants in training who are aloof. i would never go back there or recommend it to anyone. marco is arrogant and the owners and co-workers all know it.
Pros: none
Cons: too long of wait, overpriced, dirty

Great service
by jmenriquez
This was my first time at Amadeus. The staff was very friendly. It was very relaxing and quiet. I only got a massage. I will be back to try some of their other services. The price is reasonable and well worth it when you compare it to other Pasadena massage/spa services.
Pros: price, service, environment is friendly, parking garage
Cons: located at a crazy, crowded outdoor mall, small

Great customer service!!!
by tink22
After hearing so many great things about Amadeus I decided to finally give them a try. Let me just say that my expectations were exceeded to say the least. From the moment I walked in the door I was greeted by a warm and friendly staff. After being escorted to the locker room to change into my robe I was offered refreshments and seated in a beautiful and tranquil waiting area. This place really knows how to make you feel pampered. Great customer service, I look forward to my next service and trying the other Amadeus locations... I would recommend this spa and salon to anyone!! Give it a try your in for a treat!
Pros: Great customer service, parking validation, great location

Need a break from Pregnancy
by jeyu00
I needed a back massage so badly while pregnant. And they really did the job with a last minute appointment call from my sister. She managed to fit me in for a 30 min massage well worth it.

Average Services
by mservillo
Average services at the Paseo Location (I prefer the Green street for services). Too small, though if you can manage to get an appointment before closing, you might be in for a more relaxing/private experience.
Location is definately a plus, and later you can have lunch or dinner at Delmonaco.
Pros: Location, Location, Location
Cons: Decor

Paseo location - nice, but not great
by designpair
I do like Amadeus spa for the most part - nice people, nice facilities. Nothing luxury or overly relaxing however. My biggest gripe about the Paseo location is that there is always a mix up or problem with booking... the girls at the front are not well-trained. They have a hard time taking gift certificates. I would recommend the Green Street or even Newport Beach location where they seem much more on the ball.
Pros: Nice ambiance
Cons: Difficult appt system

My pre wedding massage with my Maid of Honour
by krhodes10
What a NIGHTMARE! I sat in this bare room waiting for my therapist on for 2 of the 3 treatments. The charge was ridiculous - an overall bad pick.
Pros: great lunch
Cons: tardy therapists, spa layout is bad, pedicure area is bad

Paseo Colorado Location
by v8ness8
This spa overall has wonderful ambience. The salon is open and brightly colored, the stylists are young and hip. The spa is welcoming and warm. The estheticians have wonderful hands for both waxing and facials. Everyone is friendly and I have always had a wonderful experience there!
Pros: parking, the mall
Cons: none :)

Fun spa across my Equinox!
by expertreviewer
I live and work in the Pasadena area and discovered 2 gems in the Paseo mall. This spa is quite the treat. The atmosphere is fun, the stylists are young and cool, and a lot of the patrons go to my gym which is a few steps away. I have to say that it's unfortunate that the rest of the mall does not have the same high-end feel of Amadeus and Equinox gym, but that is more of a review with the mall, and not the spa or gym.
