Downey United Methodist Church

Finding a a good, if not perfect, preschool for your children is a daunting task. Look no further. DUMC Nursury/Preschool is BY FAR the best one in the area. It is truly a hidden gem. DO NOT send your kids to Around The World or the other on one the other side adjacent to DUMC. They are disasters.

ATW specializes in neglect and it's more of a mas day care than anything. The other one across the street, also part of the ATW, is horrendous. My son's FIRST day of school and he came back with scratches all over his face..and this was our first day EVER for my son. We told them that if they could pay just a lil attention and this was the return. My son always looked sad when he came home and was not happy to be going in the morning. All he kept saying was "I don't want to go to new school"..meaning ATW. It's a mess..at best.

Anyway, I digress, Downey United Methodist Church Preschool is the best there is in Downey. The only sadness is that this is my son's last year there but look forward to sending our daughter next year. Cheryl Evans is a god send and all the parents there seem to be very involved with their kids. They are very endearing and family oriented. They do have a waiting list so I HIGHLY recommend that you put your name in.

They focus on all key aspects of curriculum WITH something that schools lack these days..religion. My son LOVES going to school..what parent doesn't want to hear that..huh.. :) Trust me..it is a wonderful school.

My daughter attented this school and easily transitioned into Kindergarten this year. My son is attending the school now and we didn't even think twice about him going to a different school. What my wife and I especially like about the school is the nice mixture of academic, social and spiritual lessons the children receive. Plus when you add in the experience, creativity and nurturing nature each teacher brings to the table this school is hard to beat. But the big selling point for me is when I ask my kids how was school today and their simple response is "FUN." That says it all.
