I LOVE THIS PLACE...definitely eat here for breakfast (best omelet i've had in Hawaii), and then come back again for lunch! And I suggest getting a cocktail with lunch, they are just as good as the food -- i'm in love with the Skinny Marga-Tini, it's made with TY KU citrus liqueur and if you look at the bottle at the bar, it's green and even lights up...it tastes as good as it looks!

I HAD BREAKFAST AND LUNCH AT THE HUKILAU CAFE AND IT WAS THE BEST PLACE I HAVE BEEN TO IN A LONG TIME. I HAD THE SUPREME OMELET AND IT WAS SO GOOD. FOR LUNCH I HAD THE ROAST PORK WITH GRAVY AND IT WASNT YOUR USUAL SLICED THIN BUT STILL TOUGH KIND OF PORK THAT YOU GET AT MOST PLACES. IT WAS LIKE CHUNKS OF SHREDDED PORK WITH A VERY TASTY BROWN GRAVY. IF YOURE LOOKING FOR A BURGER THAT WILL FILL YOU UP TRY THE HUKILAU BURGER ( HAMBURGER,TERI BEEF, FRIED EGG, CHEESE, GRILLED ONIONS,LETTUCE, TOMATO, AND MAYONAISE ON A SESAME BUN) IT WAS THE BEST BURGER I HAD YET. I WOULD GO EVERY DAY IF I COULD.

The Hukilau Cafe is the best! We stayed in Laie for a week in February, 2008. Get there early, because it's hard to find a seat by mid-morning. The food was fantastic, and by the end of the week, we were treated like old friends . The prices were reasonable, and the portions were huge. We usually took some back to our cottage to enjoy later on. You will find eggs, bacon and toast, pancakes, french toast, etc. My favorite was a veggie omelet. If you want try the local fare, try the spam, eggs, and rice. It's a bit difficult to find the first time, but this is one place you will be glad you did.

Anything you order will taste good. Breakfast is off the hook and lunch menu offers all of the local classics at its best. The portions are so large some of you visitors might want to share a plate. All I can say is it always satisfys a "Hungry Hawaiian."

Just spent 5 days on Oahu and went there twice!(it was more than 30 minutes away from where we were staying in Waikiki) Everything was great! The french toast is to die for and the fried rice is superb. Very friendly staff and efficient service. They make you feel like you are a member of the family! Would go again, and again...

Today I called the Hukilau Caf at 10:20 AM to make sure they were still open, the lady who answered the phone told me they would be open for another 15 minutes. I arrived at the packed Caf at 10:30 to place a to-go order and I was rudely told by the same lady that they were closed. This is the second time this has happened to me in two weeks. The same thing happened when I showed up at 1:40 PM (after calling) as they were putting up chairs in preparation for the 2 PM closing time. If I wasn??t vacationing in Laie I would not have made the same mistake twice. These events shocked me as the previous reviews made the staff sound very friendly, I found the local staff to be somewhat rude and unfriendly to white tourists. Hopefully you will have a better experience.

This place has a fun local atmosphere, breakfast is an absolute must! I suggest the "Hungry Hawaiian" so you can sample just about everything good about local grinds.... also the ham, cheese, and mushroom omlete with rice is amazing. It's so comfortable there... everyone is friendly and are always up for talking story.

This restaurant was around a long time ago before a local chef named Sam Choy became famous. Specialty plate lunches can be called in as this place becomes very crowded. Prices are reasonable, most items between $2 - 10. Breakfast items we love are: beef stew omelet, french toast. Lunches: steak sandwhich, any combo plate lunch. The service is great and the locals are greeted by first name basis by the owners. A definite must because the North Shore has become a playground of wealthy and powerful families. The simple menu and great service surpasses most of our 3-star restaurants nearby!
