I had to go to Gilley's just to see if it measured up to the neon sign that blazes out in front of the Frontier Hotel/Casino. It goes something like this: Dirty Girls and Free Beer. My husband and I decided to take it in one night just to watch the dancing. We were pleasantly surprised at the family like atmosphere. People young and old were on the dance floor two-stepping to the latest country western songs, and we had a fun time watching the action. The mechanical bull riding was entertaining to watch, and we didn't see one dirty girl the entire evening. Though we didn't eat, the food that we saw being served look appetizing.
PROS: Mechanical bull looks fun.
CONS:
This is my favorite country dance hall in town. The floor is a little small, but it gives the place an intimate, authentic feel. The decor is true country, complete with a mechanical bull for those brave enough to risk it in front of a bunch of hooting cowboys. The atmosphere is fun and lively - lots of regulars, some tourists - old and young - a lot of good dancers that are fun to watch. The DJ is great, but there is live entertainment too - the house band is terrific. And it's a very popular "drop in" spot for country artists coming through town. You never know when Toby or Darryl might stop by to play a set. As if all that wasn't enough, they have great food to start out your night - yummy ribs. And they offer dance lessons on Sundays!
PROS: Great atmosphere, friendly folk, the best music in town
CONS: Gets crowded, but that's half the fun :)
Go here even if you don't like country you will have fun. Every day of the week they do something different. The have bull riding and line dancing. NOt boring at all. Ladies get in free of course. This is a great club not like most where the guys are disgusting. Guys actually respect your space here.
Great country music and excellent food makes for a fun evening at Gilley's! The best item on the menu is the fillet-cooked medium as they tend to overcook a bit. The price is reasonable as all entrees include two sides and a soup or salad. Get there early for dinner as they stop serving at 9pm.
FANTASTIC place to go for some good-ole-country fun. Great music, great dance floor. Outgoing bartenders. Occasionally sports a hip country band, and other times has a hot D-J spinning the latest country sounds. BIG place, with lots of room to roam. You'll find your tried-n-true country die hards, as well as your contemporary cowboys/cowgirls just looking to make some noise. A melting pot for all makes and models. HOT!!!
PROS: Good Fun, Good Music, Wide variety of people!! fun for everyone!
CONS: Country music fans only!!
This place is a rip roaring good time if you like cheap beer and stiff drinks. If your staying in the hotel they have free coupons for the drinks. Friday is Bikini mud wrestling night, every night locals get in for free, and they have an all you can drink beer special. Not to mention that ladys get free drinks if they ride the mechnical bull.
