Los Angeles County Museum of Art is a well established museum in Los Angeles that has good art pieces and exhibits. There is a cafe that serves light snacks and such but it can be a little pricey.

Currently LACMA houses the King Tut exhibit which is the last time the King Tut piece will be in America.

This place is a good place to kill a few hours. The exhibits are not organized well, but you can still burn through a couple of floors and enjoy some art. Try and make it out on a Friday night, because they have an outdoor jazz concert series. It's free and it starts at 5:30.

I'm a bit of a museum snob, being from Chicago where we have the famed Art Institute, so maybe that's why I don't love the LACMA the way many people do. I always mean to take part in their special nighttime events which sound amazing, but I can never get too motivated to go because my initial trip to the LACMA left me underwhelmed and wishing for a bigger, more diverse museum. It is definitely worth the trip, so you can go and make your own decision.

I have been to several exhibits at LACMA and always had a great time. They are located on Wilshire Blvd so its easy to find and parking was not a problem. They had a great gift shop set up as you exit the exhibits with gift that correlated to the current showings. Enjoy!

My husband and I visited LACMA on a Saturday, which meant long lines waiting to get tickets. I must've waited 30-45 minutes to get 2 $18 tickets. Not only is admission expensive (since we had moved from a city with a huge art museum that was free) on top of the $6 parking fee, the crowds made maneuvering difficult. When lunch time came, we could not decide between the cafe or the restaurants because of the crowds and lines in each. But the art collection, while small, was fabulous, and the Japanese garden was nice. The museum also has a huge facility for private events. And now they have a King Tut exhibit, which should attract more long lines...

PROS: Japanese garden, organized exhibits, easy access in the center of the city
CONS: Expensive admission, expensive food, long lines, small collections
