Evangel Classical Christian School

In the fall of 2000, a small school committed to a world-class Christian education delivered in a classical format opened at Evangel Church, PCA in Helena, AL. In the 5 years since then, the enrollment has more than doubled and the school has moved to a more spacious, open location in nearby Alabaster. What has not changed is the dedication of the faculty and staff to deliver an outstanding education to covenant children of believers that will facilitate their forming a Biblical world-view through a commitment to excellence and study of God's holy and inspired word.
I love this school for a number of reasons. Mainly, the teachers have a vested interest in the spiritual well-being of my children. (I have 3 enrolled there.) I do not only get calls about their academics, but also concerns about their spiritual growth. If there is a character issue that needs to be addressed, the teachers know the parents want to know. If you are interested in sending your child to a school where the teachers educate them and send them home, this is not the school for you. Parental involvement is not suggested; it is mandatory. It is understood that parents should be the major influence in their child's life... not peers; not teachers. There are many projects outside of school that require attention of parents and children in a mutual work. But that is ok, because another thing I love about this school is that the children are finished at 12:40 everyday! I have the pleasure of my children's company every day around my lunch table! Other notable points: tuition is very reasonable for private education; many after-school activities are available, including tennis, sports club, soccer, science club, choir, drama, and others; also the children have the advantage of taking Latin from 3rd grade up.

If you're a Christian, seeking to instill the same values in your children, this school is an awesome option. Here Christian values are followed and retained throughout the curriculum. Christ is unapologetically the foundation & center of this school.

I have been absolutely amazed at what the teachers & principal have accomplished! Academically and spiritually they excel, this can be seen in the happy faces of the students as well the test scores.

Everything is covered at Evangel: same subjects as public schools, with an addition - Latin!

Classes are small (less than 20 kids per class). Individual attention is not the exception - it's the norm. Prayer is an integral part of school day along with the curriculum.

We cannot express enough our gratefulness for this school and the strides they've made with our kids. We're looking forward to many more years partnering with Evangel in the spiritual & academic growth of our children.
