I had a month to month plan.. I was laid off from my job.. In order to keep zipcar I would have others pay my bill for me to keep my service active. I contacted zipcar to let them know this, I received a letter in the mail from a collection agency stating that my bill was way passed due. I spoke with customer service and they told me to suspend my account and activate it when I was ready. Well I made the payment and called to let them know I was ready to reactivate my plan. I was told no, I was suspended indefinetly and that I COULD NEVER BE A MEMBER AGAIN. I would like to think that during these troubling time zp car would have a little more synpathy for it's customers.. BOY WAS I WRONG. I was also double charge for a rental I extended my reservation for an extra day and was charged a late fee and a full day's rental. I wanted to go back to zip car but never again.

Zipcar terminated my account when I reported that my zipcard had been stolen and used without my permission. To be frank, I regret telling zipcar. I thought I was doing the right thing, telling them that their car was out being used by a non-authorized user. Instead, they went ahead and cancelled my account due to "non-member driving"! Makes no sense, and makes for a very unsafe policy -- it encourages others in the same position to not say anything. I've filed emailed a supervisors, and filed several reports (BBB, consumerist, ripooffreport, etc) -- we'll see what happens ...
My first experience with the zipcar company was horrible. The company tries to penalize you in every way to make money off of you. When I called the zipcar representatives, they did not seem to care and did not have a positive attitude towards my situation. The company has left a bad taste in my mouth. I am canceling my zipcard account and would rather rent from a traditional car rental agency.
I had a HORRIBLE experience using ZipCar! I never plan to use it again and would discourage anyone from using it. I rented the car for a few hours to run errands. Everything was fine at first. I locked and unlocked the car using my Zip card, as instructed. Then my card stopped working locking me out of the car! I had left my cell phone in the console as I was just running into the store for a second. I called ZipCar from the store manager's phone. It took FOREVER to get a rep on the phone. Once they finally answered, they were totally unhelpful! They have the ability to send a signal to unlock the car, but wouldn't unless I was standing near the car. How can I stand near the car if I am on the phone in the store? It took another 15 minutes to reach a manager, who was just as unhelpful and ...bonus...she was SO rude! Again, they would not unlock the car unless I was standing there. I could see the car from where I was standing. I offered to take responsibility for it. Her only solution was to go to the parking lot, ask a stranger to borrow their phone, call ZipCar back (keep in mind it took over 20 minute of holding to reach her) and then they would unlock it. That is unacceptable! Drivers beware! It was obvious that it is more about the car than the driver. They would not have cared if I had to take a cab home or sleep in the manager??s office. Bottom line, they don't take responsibility for their equipment failing. They offered no solutions, took forever to answer the phone, were rude and absolutely one hundred percent not concerned! Thank God I was in a safe neighborhood and it was not at night. I felt trapped and discarded. I will never drive ZipCar again!
N ever ever rent from ZIP CAR worst mistake we ever made. Our car wasnt there. when we called to get another car there werent any avaiable. They refused to refund any application fees. disgiusting! Did I mention did this was our first time using them>??? I will never use them again.We lost out on $300 worth of concert tickets. I am going to contact help me howard. They have to take responsibility. This is the worst service I have ever recieved
Before using Zipcar, you need to forget their service. Zipcar has the world's worst customer service, especially in D.C. area. A member of customer service shouted me and hung up the phone because of my complaint. I booked Zipcar for 4 hours for my important meeting. I got to a car but I couldn't use it. There was not the car key. I called customer service and one person answer me. I explained my situation but she said "wait." I waited almost 10 min. Then she told "You wanna cancel it or use another Zipcar?" I had no choice to use another Zipcar because time was running. The another Zipcar was located at 1 mile distance and she said she would give me a 30 min pay back for this inconvenient. I already spent my time about 20 min and I needed to spend another 20 min to get to there. Zipcar believes this is really great Customer Service. I complained this terrible service then she shouted me that I didn't get this offer she would hung up the phone, and nobody would not answer my phone then hung it up. I couldn't get any apology and finally I couldn't make my appointment because I was already late. I called to a supervisor and said this problem, then a supervisor told me Zipcar would give me $25 for this inconvenient if I would used another car as I booked. Wow, payback went up. Actually, if you are late to return a car, you have to pay at least $50 as a penalty.They get $50 for you fault, they give you $5 for their fault. What a great business! They don't care about Customers situation or their problems. They're only thinking of the money and that's it. In addition, Zipcar is not cheap one. If you use a zipcar for going groceries or wherever, it will take 2 or 3 hours. It means you should pay 20 or 30 dollars even though you drive 20 or 30 min. Moreover, you have to get to the Zipcar's parking zone. Be careful to use Zipcar! You may spend a lot of money with the poorest service.
We rented a car for a 5 hour period. Within 1 hour, the engine failure light came on and the car broke down in the middle of a highway (we were pretty scared). We then had to wait 6 hours for a tow truck because Zipcar's tow truck providers are few and far between. We spoke to Zipcar customer service over 10 times and no one could help us resolve the problem. Despite this nightmare, Zipcar charged us the full rental amount PLUS a $100 late fee!!! A late fee for a car that stopped working. They have told us that they WILL NOT reimburse us - seriously! Their customer service people are rude, impatient and awful. Aside from the fact that most of their cars are really dirty and disgusting, their customer service was seriously awful. Beware of Zipcar like the plague!!
This is a great website which allows you to rent cars for an hourly or daily rate. It is great for students, or people in the city who dont have cars, because you can use it just for an hour or two to go and get groceries. There is a variey of different cars to rent, and they all cost different prices. Great service!
