Both locations are closed now after screwing me out of my warranty on a rebuilt engine...had to shell out 700 more after the 3000 I paid oconnells to rebuild were talking a 64 engine...after 200 miles my piston rod was bad oil was black and the alternator and voltage regulator I was also charged for had not been replaced....when called to tell them I was told to bring the car by the HB location 2 days later they had closed that one too!!! I work hard for my money and I feel truly ripped off!!! Good riddance oconnells I for one will not miss you...

These guys are an absolute rip-off! I was attracted by their ad for cheap tune-ups. Granted I didn't expect my six cylinder to cost as advertised, I didn't expect to get a $150 quote. When I called back, another person quoted me $90 and these guys were stuck having to service my car for the latter price. But little did I know that they will make-up a story about a broken cylinder spring that would cost another $150 (the car can't apparently run without it but how was it running before? If it wasn't broken before did they break it?). They had me backed up against the wall and I had to pay. I am still unsure of whether they actually did do a tune-up. I am going to another mechanic this weekend to get it checked out. Oh, yeah: the nearly $1000+ quote they prepared for all the other things that need to be done on the car was straight out of the "How to fleece your customers" textbook. My advice: STAY AWAY!
PROS: None! Stay Away!
CONS: See Review

Had my brakes done there and the next day, 30 miles later, my wheel caught fire on the freeway. When I called them to advise, the manager stated that he had forgotten to tell me that they had replaced a nut on my shocks. When I asked which side, it turned out to be the same side where the fire took place. When I asked for my money back, he hung up on me and told me there was no one else I could talk to. I then called the owner of the business at the other O'connell's in Huntington. He said he would look into issue. He proceded to dodge my calls for weeks and finally said he wouldn't pay. I'm still thinking about suing him.
My neighbor also complained about them. He said they claimed they swapped his brake pads, but actually did not.
PROS: cheap oil changes
CONS: surly manager, incompetent,
