I love this store, I live a few blocks away. They have brilliant headbands right now! I've always looked in the window but I rarely go in, because I only recently grew tall enough to fit into anything there. They also have very nice jewelry with cute bead patterns on headpins and some antique charms. As I do with many accessories, I will probably edit the design a bit and make something similar for myself. I also hope to make a headband like the ones in there, but that may prove to be a bit harder (I'm a pathetic seamstress).-Anonymous 13 year old girl

I've been living in Claremont since I was small, and I can tell you this store represents how cute and unique Claremont is. I have always been welcomed into their store like a friend. The persons comment below was far to mean and untrue about the people who work there. It clearly states the return policy.
So please live with the fact you made a mistake, not them. The owner and the people that work there have every right to abide by the fact that they have rules, in order to make a living too. So in saying that I hope the wedding went fine, but as an adult grow up and stop blaming others for your mistake. All the other comments are positive for a reason.
I enjoy this store a lot, and the people who work there are amazing :)

Over the past two years I have purchased close to 1000.00 worth of dresses from The Little Dress Shop. Approximately 3 weeks ago I purchased a dress there for my bridal shower. When trying on the dress in preparation for this week's event the dress strap broke.
When I called the shop to request a refund I was told by Jill, the clerk that there were no refunds and that there was only store credit for returns made within 14 days. As I had purchased this dress for a special occasion and had been saving it for this occasion I was passed the deadline. Moreover, as the owner, Martha, was out of town in Cancun Jill was unwilling/unable to authorize either store credit or an exchange. She suggested that when Martha was back in town they may be able to repair the dress.
As the dress clearly has a flaw in the strap design (despite its 110.00 price tag, it has a cheap plastic clasp which adjusts each straps) I told her emphatically that I don't want a repair but that I wanted my money back or store credit. She said that they can't offer this and that as the dress had been worn by me they wouldn't be able to resell it (!) to anyone. Because she thought my tone was hostile and because I wasn't "putting myself in her shoes as this wasn't nordstrom but a small business owner" Jill hung up on me.

In order to try to get some confirmation about what my options were for contacting the owner (remember, she's away on vacation in Cancun--tough life for a small busniness owner, I guess)
In tears, I explained that my shower is on Thursday and that I'm getting married on Saturday. When am I supposed to buy a new dress for this special occasion? She didn't have any options and she kept saying that as I'd worn the dress for an hour they wouldn't be able to resell it.

So here are the facts:
1. I wore a garment for less than an hour to prepare for my bridal shower. The defective garment broke.
2. I was treated with scorn by an employee who, instead of emphatizing with my difficult situation (wedding shower in two days) suggested that I have no sympathy for small business owners and that I expected Nordstrom quality service. She's right, I do, and for small businesses to survive then they're going to have to match Nordstrom and other corporations if they want to survive.
3. The Little Dress Shop didn't at all suggest that they would complain to the garment' s manufacturer about the product (it seems like it's really the manufacturer who is at fault here). Instead the only solution offered for a defective garment was to have them resew the broken garment
4. The Little Dress Shop sells returned/defective merchandise. This is clear from Jill's statements that it would be hard to sell a garment that had been worn and fixed. Implicit in this statement is the fact that they DO this.

After being a major supporter of this shop I will now shift gears to tell people about my negative experience.
In particular, I would caution people to avoid this shop if you are making a purchase for a special occasion--especially if you're purchasing something you plan to wear 14 days after purchasing based on their horrible return/exchange policy.

It is not forever 21, so if you want cheap go there...... Every $$$ I have spent here has been worth it.

I stop by this shop everytime I'm in the Village, to take a look at the new designs, and bring myself to the brink of an impulse purchase. However, my budget keeps me from going too crazy. My friend did buy a cute summer dress there for thirty-something dollars, but many of the items are a bit more pricey. For cute original designs, however, I suppose it could be worth it. If you aren't on a ROSS or Target type budget, then I highly recommend this shop. The women who work there are super friendly, and are always wearing the most adorable outfits. Save up some dough, and buy a gift for a friend.

Sadly, like most of the boutiques in Claremont, The Little Dress Shop is a little out of my price range. However, that doesn't prevent it from being a fabulous place to browse or find a special piece for a fancy occasion. I was most recently here hunting for something to wear to a wedding. The feel is eclectic and fun, with lots of selections from designers like Betsy Johnson. The woman at the counter was very friendly.

PROS: very cute, fun dress-up clothes
CONS: a little expensive for the average girl
