That fat lady everyone keeps complaining about, is the vet's wife, in other words, that fat broad with the short hair ain't going anywhere she is the owner's wife.
They are very uncaring, oblivious to everyone's feelings, all they want to do is surgery, my cat's nail fell off, they wanted to do surgery, my toy-chihuahua had a small wart on her back, they wanted to cut her open, got a second opinion, I was told those things come and go naturally on certain breeds; I can go on and on.
in a nutshell stay away!

Robertson is a very knowledgable vet. Big heart and full of oand understanding. Staff was great too. One of the receptions there was so rude it shocked me. I just said our dog is here, I am pretty sure he is dying, my wife is crying in the car with him. My manner with everyone is almost Ghandi like lol. Her response was "well I told her to go somewhere else and your appointment is 10:30, the time we were there, and she just told me you might ending waiting another 4 hours" and walked away.and all I told her was we were here. Yes our dog of 12 years died, Robertson did everything he could, yet the receptionist made our grief something ugly, I still recomend his office but avoid her. People came out to our car offering sympathy that we had to deal with her. As God is my witness this is the truth.

We have lots of animals and have had our share of illnesses. We went to Not Just 4 Paws for many years and we love them. They aren't cheap, but nothing for the best for my animals. I believe animals are like children, if you have them you owe it to them to take the best care possilbe. Then the recession hit us hard! We started going to Canyon Lake Animal Clinic for the vaccine clinic. They were sooooooooo much cheaper & everyone was really nice.
Then we adopted an a abandoned dog who was 6 months old...not that we could really afford it, but she needed a home badly, and was so cute...and we had just lost a 14 year old dog. For all the shots, spraying & microchip was going to be about $400 at Not Just 4 Paws, it was about $150 at CLAC. So, we gave CLAC a try. Dr. Robertson is wonderful. We have nothing except good things to say about the staff. Since we had a 18 year old cat with cancer. We saw the other vet that works there part time, older gentleman. He was very kind & helped us hard some hard decisions. We are very happy with both clinics, but why pay more that you need to. Not Just 4 Paws is not as busy & the staff if friendlier, I think because they have more time. Do you want staff that has time to chat with you or to save $150? Oh, I have a freind at work that had to take her animal somewhere else because they couldn't work her into the schelude when the dog was ill & needed to be seen. So, when I have a sick animal my 1st call is to CLAC, if they couldn't see me, the I would call Not Just 4 Paws. Very happy with both.

I Have been a pet owner for 26 years and I have never had such a horrible experience with any animal clinc/hospital. CL animal clinic has the most unhelpful vet staff with the worst attitudes. The vet did a spay on our 6 month old puppy. 2 days later her Stichs were falliing apart and the incision showed signs of a infection. We took her to the CL, it was closed because it was a Saturday. Unfortunately CL clinic is closed on the weekends and we had to take her to the animal hospital. The infection was so bad that she needed another surgery ($709). when I contacted the CL vet on Monday to ask why this would happen the vet would not talk to me. I could only talk to the front staff. I asked if we could be refunded our spay seeing that the surgery had to be redone they refused to compensate us at all. They
The customer service is horrible. I was told I would get a call back that I never received. Kevin (the receptionist) refused to give the phone # for the vet board and hung up on me. When I called back he placed me on hold never coming back to the phone. Needless to say ILL NEVER TAKE MY PETS BACK TO THIS PLACE

After having been burned by many vets, someone recommended this office to us. Let me just say, having 3 dogs and 2 cats, there is NO where else I would take my animals. I love this office. Their prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the vets are AMAZING! I know that when I get a bill from them it is a fair price....often lower than they quoted me. I have had numerous procedures performed there for my animals: spaying, nutering, tumor removal, declawings, etc. I have always been more than satisfied!

Great veterinarian!! Caring and helpful staff. My in-laws travel from Palm Desert just to take their little "Penny" to this vet office.

I've been taking my pets to Canyon Lake Animal Clinic for over seven years and have always been completely satisfied. Their rates are extremely fair and having a bull dog we visit the vet often. They may not always know me by name but, they know my pets by name and that's what's important. I also give the doctor high marks for taking his time during examinations and explaining the treatments. I would have given the clinic five stars but it is rare to get appointments the same day, it usually at least two days out because they have so many clients. Still they are worth the wait.

I have had nothing but the best service from this office. I have rescued several dogs from the local animal shelter over the years, and I have taken them all to Dr. Robertson's office. They have always, always been very caring professionals and my dogs have received wonderful care from them.

My experiences with Dr R. have always been informative. He has always shown a true caring nature for my family (pets). As far as the receptionists very rude and uncaring. I remember one incident where my baby golden was very frightened and he was sitting on my sons lap for comfort the receptionist with the blond orange hair snapped across the room and told him to get the dog off the chair. The dog was on my sons lap, not the chair. She didn't care that my dog was scared, which really upset myself and my son. If it wasnt for Dr. R my pets would be going elsewhere.

i have been going to dr robertson since i got my first dog in 2002. i have tried some other vets in the area out of convenience and have regretted it every time and always end up with dr. r. without fail, my pets always get good care that is reasonably priced and the good dr is not trying to upsell you with unnecessary treatments for the sake of making a buck. it is a busy, busy practice (that is what happens when you are good!) and maybe sometimes the staff is overwhelmed with the comings and goings but i have never been treated rudely, but maybe that is because i don't mistreaat them either.

God send, Wonderful, Honest, Professional.
Our experience was more than than joyfull. Our Pug named Nicky was seen by our local Vet. After almost geetting ripped off, we were recommended to you by women named Patty Miles who also belongs to K-9 Komfort. My wife Pam scheduled an appointment. After removing five teeth, your staff saw fit to also trim Nicky's toe nails. We are very satisfied with the care and the fair rates.

Very good service. I'm a get in get out kind of person. Don't need alot of frills. Anyway my dog is a german shepard-rott mix and he doesn't always play nice with other dogs, these people have come outside to talk to us, even give him his shot on the patio to not upset our dog. So far I have not had any problems and have been going to them for 3 years I think for both of our dogs.

The doctor was great, but the receptionist was very rude. I would not recommend anyone to take there pets there. This lady was so rude to my mom, just because my mom did not
know the last date her dog received her shots. This receptionist acted like not knowing the exact date was ridicules. She then told my mom to sit down and someone will call her in a really mean tone. If this lady has no respect for there customers just think what she could do to your pet if she gets mad at it. You can??t miss her, she is big and when I say big I mean big, with short hair. If you do get her to check you in, I would recommend someone else to process paper work. If this clinic is smart they will let this lady go.

I know who they speak of when they speak of "rude". I've had my moments with her also. However, Dr. Robertson is wonderful. My 4 dogs all feel at ease with him, as well as the other vet at this office. Most of the staff is very good, and helpful. One bad apple will not deter me from continuing my patronage with Dr. Robertson. The fees are reasonable as well. Guess you can't please all of the people all of the time, but I'm a happy client.

Dr. Robertson and the staff at Canyon Lake Animal Clinic have treated our three dogs for the last 8 years. They have been nothing but conscientious and professional in all of our dealings with them. Dr. Robertson has offered great advice and we feel that any treatment options and procedures that he recommends are truly what is in the best interest of our pets unlike some of the other vets we have experienced where we feel that they are only in it to run up our bill. You'll love Canyon Lake Animal Clinic!

AWARD! The rudest receptionist resides in this office!.I am no longer willing to have my pets be cared for in an office containing this uncaring, less than knowledgeable woman. She tried to give me veterinary advice on the phone, and my guess is that the extent of her education ended at high school. She said "We are doctors" What We Kemo Sabe, you are not a vet! Dr. Robertson, I have used your services for years but ,I will now go to Not Just for Paws (another local vet), where the receptionist handled our needs with care and concern. A receptionist should represent the office in a positive manner since they are the first impression your business gives to the client..Please take this note to heart an change your staff requirements and rid yourself of the weeds!

I love Dr. Robertson, but he has had some other vets come and go which seem to have the attitude that money comes first and our pets 2nd.We had a bad experience with one vet that apparently is no longer there. (Thank goodness) The office staff is always friendly. They are also very busy, so I understand if I am not always given immediate attention.
I make a point of making sure my pets get to see Dr. Robertson and all is fine!

I've been going to CLAC for some years. I have been satisfied with most of the care received there. I have never found any of the vets to be rude; however, sometimes some of the front office staff can be a little abrupt, I imagine because of the business of the office. However, I would recommend them because I've been to other vets in the area that I wouldn't take my pet cockroach to. Price-wise, I think they are no more or less than other vets.

I am amazed to see people saying that this vet is rude and not informative. I have taken several of my dogs to this clinic over the years, and never had a problem.

It started with my chihuahua who had swallowed a foxtail, and had it stuck in his throat. I first took him to a vet in Temecula, who would not even look at him unless I did a series of expensive tests, and put him on heart medication for a supposed serious heart murmur (for which he had no symptoms).

My son recommended I take him to Canyon Lake, where he had taken his dog many times for foxtails. Dr. Robertson examined my dog, told me that the murmur was not serious, anesthetized my dog, removed the foxtail and cleaned his teeth.
My dog was fine for many years, afterwards. When he was very old, he developed breathing problems. The vet examined him, and suggested OTC Benedryl, which worked.

I took four other dogs there after that - to have stitches removed from a new rescue, to have an old dog euthanized, to have another old dogs teeth checked, and to have a dog with chronic ear infections treated.

I have found Dr. Robertson to be practical, down to earth, and quite informative. And no one in the office has ever been rude to me.

I had a very similar experience as this person ("Stay Away - By any u.") , except that I have not been banned, but decided that my pet and I deserve much better.
Dare not question the staff, especially the matron receptionist; she is extremely rude and unprofessional. The vet also does not like questioning customers. Review your bill carefully for unnecessary tests/charges.

My family has been taking our cats there since way back when. We've never had a problem with any staff or Dr there. They were great with all of our cats!!!! Including the one who is blind in both eyes and hates everybody but my mom! (trust me when I say hates everybody she'll bite and scratch the poo outta you if you touch her). I would def recommend them. They are a very GREAT animal clinc to go to! The staff and Dr's there are very helpful when detailed questions are asked! I LOVE EM!

I took my cats here for the low cost shot clinic. The front desk was easy to talk to, they were busy with the phones, etc, but still nice enough. I was early but they still took all of my info, and right at 2:00 when the clinic starts I was called to the back. The gal giving the shots was efficient and kind and offered to help me take my two carriers out to the car.

I will definitely come back next year for the vaccinations. It's a great cost saving service they are offering!

The vet spends no time explaining anything, and when questioning the vet and the staff, they become rude!! Then, because I brought to their attention that they had mistreated me, I am banned from being a customer. Well, they did me the favor... who wants to go to a nasty place like this!!

I brought my dog in to their low cost vaccination clinic for his annual parvo shot and his rabies shot. The vet assistant was so harsh when giving my puppy his shots he was very sore. A couple days later he developed a golf ball size lump I was concerned because he has never had issues like this before.

I called in a spoke to the rudest person on the phone. She told me to stop blaming the vet for something that is obviously not their fault.? I told them I was bringing him in and she said that was fine. The vet checked him out and I asked about maybe giving my dog a benedryl shot before his next vaccination and his answer was this "What do you expect me to do give every dog a benedryl shot before."

I left still worried about my dog. Two days later I recieved a letter stating that because I have an attitude they will no longer be able to supply medical attention to my animals?!?! So because I care deeply about the well being of my animals I am not aloud to go back.

DO NOT take your animals here.
Nuevo Road Animal Hospital provides way better service!

I have known Dr. Robertson for approximatey 11 years, after we adopted our first puppy in 1998. A few years later we learned our beloved pet had cancer, and we opted to try our best to treat each outbreak. After approximately 4 or 5 surgeries, it was evident that the cancer was spreading and our dog was suffering. We then made the painful decision to have him put down. Dr. Robertson was the most comforting, sensitive, and understanding to us during this most difficult time for us. I will never forget how compassionate he was in explaining step by step how it was being performed. Our dog passed away in April 2004.

On December 30th 2008, after a lengthy grieving process, we adopted our beautiful 6 week old chocolate lab. I could not wait to show Dr. Robertson our new puppy....Not only did he remember me and my family, he remembered our lost dog and even remembered the exact name of the cancer that he had. It was nice to see the office has expanded and has been completely remodeled. I HIGHLY recommend taking your pets to Canyon Lake Animal Clinic. It is the best, and we are extremely pleased with the attitude and service.

I have been bringing my dog there for 8 years. I can not say enough wonderful things about the vet and staff. Once my dog was very very ill and Dr. R. diagnosed him immediately and started treatment. I would not go to any other vet. He has also done surgery on my dog with great result. The clinic is very very affordable. My sister breeds dogs in North Carolina and can not believe the low prices I pay here. I don't know if they do the boarding anymore, I think not. But I did board my little guy there and he was treated extremely well by all there.

This facility may be okay for well visits and vaccinations, but I don't recommend it for sick pets.

This morning, when I attempted to transfer my cat from an overnight emergency clinic to his office, I was turned away. Dr. R. agreed IV treatment was necessary for my cat's failing kidneys; however, he insisted it must be performed by "critical care specialists."

Our cat recovered from an incident just like this one when we lived in another state, by a regular ole' vet, with IV saline mixed with a few common medications. It is NOT a difficult or complex treatment.

Thankfully, I had no trouble finding other vets willing to administer appropriate treatment to my cat, which saved me well over $2400.00 ($600.00 vs. $3-4,000 at a special-care office).

Here's the most aggravating part: I presume Dr. R would have been comfortable euthanizing my cat- but was not willing to perform standard conservative treatment to try to save her life.

The low-cost office visit fee appeals to clients who are on a tight budget. However, most of us are not able to afford the high cost of specialized care, and the vet is unwilling to try conservative treatments. That makes this office truly expensive- either in money, or in the unnecessary euthanization of beloved pets.

Ouch.

Update- two days later: My cat is doing so well she may be able to come home a day early!

This place was recommended to me by FOUR people. No joke! I went and I can only say, this is the Vet everyone should go to. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing this place is. First, they are not expensive. Second, the staff is simply amazing. I absolutely love these people.
Dr. Robertson is the best.
They don't just take your pet into the back to disappear into oblivion. You are a part of of your pet's care every step of the way.
Dr. Robertson is the hardest working Vet I have ever seen. It is clear he is in this profession for the love of the animals. It is not just a job for him and it shows.
He is also brilliant. He diagnosed my dog by feeling the leg and then referred me to a surgeon. It took that surgeon films to figure out what Dr. Robertson figure out with touch. He is amazing.
I love the staff just as much. They knew me by name after the first time I went. They knew my animals and knew how they like to be treated.
I could go on forever about this Vet. I could never say enough good things though.
They do boarding too but get in early! Dr. Robertson has cameras linked to his home to watch the animals when they are being boarded or needed to stay overnight. I even saw a couch with a pillow and blanket in the back office where I assume he sleeps when there is an animal in need. What an amazing man.
BY FAR the best Vet I have ever been to!

PROS: Everything. Most loving caring brilliant Vet I have ever been too.
CONS: That he isn't in Arizona where I live now :( :( :(
