a wonderful nursery to visit if you love cactus and succulents, lots and lots of varieties to choose from, Harvey was very helpful and was most happy to answer any of my questions. It was like having my own personal guide in the nursery. Prices were very reasonable and I will be going back over and over again. Joann S

I recently decided to change a dying grass yard into one of succulents. I was looking for a good place to go where there would be a good selection that was reasonably priced. The Mexican Hat Nursery fit the bill.

Though it was a good half hour drive from where I live, it was well worth it. Not only did the proprietor, Harvey, give me a tour, but he patiently answered all my questions, helped me to understand what would do well and educated me as to how to take care of them. Since I am very new to the succulent world, I was most impressed when he steered me away from buying a cactus that basically throws up tiny needles.

His prices are reasonable, his plants look very healthy and he knows his stuff. Just make sure you call before you go to make sure it is open! I know I will be back.

Mexican Hat Cactus Nursery is my favorite place to get succulents. The plants and selection ARE great. The first reviewer may have it mixed up with a different nursery because the only 'people' who work there is Harvey, the owner for over 40 yrs. He knows just about everything about the plants he grows, and he's always friendly. The 'appointment' call is to make sure he's there, and he's there most of the time.

The nursery has been growing cactus and succulents for more than 40 years. As a result they have 100s of cacti that are very mature and show quality. The prices have not changed during this time and are very reasonable. Its definitely worth a visit. The owner, Harvey, also has a great sense of humor. He has no incentive to high pressure sell the plants. You'll be welcomed to casual conversation and you can leisurely shop for plants.

PROS: Specimen sized plants at a very reasonable cost
CONS: Must call for an appoinment before arriving
