I am a foster mom with Miniature Schnauzer Rescue, and recently had a three-legged, 11 pound little girl with a class 4-out-of-5 heart murmur and a HUGE breast cancer tumor which, when attempted to be removed, had caused her to actually die on the table. They rescusitated her, and said the tumor could not be removed or she would die. Dr. Widener looked at her, listened to her heart, called the vets who had worked on her and researched everything they had done, and admitted they had done everything "perfectly," but decided the dog had no chance at any kind of life with the tumor. He devised a plan to do surgery again, differently this time...and the wee little dog made it! We found a home for her, and believe it or not, her new mommy is a social worker who deals with new amputees, dementia patients, cancer survivors...people just like that little dog! The little dog is being certified as a therapy dog and actually goes into work with her new mommy and is helping people! Dr. Widener performed a minor miracle with that surgery, and he even managed to get the little one's teeth cleaned and polished while she was under. He has been my personal vet for 18 years, and has seen my pets into old age and through some very bizarre circumstances. Recently my own Schnauzer ate an entire pack of gum sweetened with something positively deadly to dogs, and my baby lived to bark about it. Dr. Mike is amazing, and a great guy, and a totally over-the-top surgeon. I recommend him completely, as does the organization I volunteer for, Miniature Schnauzer Rescue. We love him.

Dr. Mike is the best Vet I have ever known. He is so caring and compassionate both for our critters and their owners. My experience as a senior having had many animals in my life and several vets, believe me when I say I know the difference! Dr. Mike has such a kind spirit and, to me that means everything! I have been taking my ??children? (cats) to Farmhouse Family Pet Practice for over 14 years. I have had up to 7 cats at one time!! (my own (2) cat sitting (1), my Son??s (2) and currently have 4 rescue cats who found me!) His office is always clean and friendly, filled will love for all the animals. He takes whatever time necessary to personally care for each one. My babies have had many health issues throughout the years. Dr. Mike always made sure I understood what needed to be done and why, even suggesting several options to treat the issue(s). Dr. Mike is the ONLY Vet I would ever allow to perform any operations needed for my cats because he treats them as loving beings (as a Dr. would treat us humans). His facility accommodates all of our animal??s needs. The hospital is a comfortable and pleasant environment including an overnight stay. Dr. Mike returns phone calls as timely as possible! Yeah! He listens and heeds to all your concerns regarding your pet(s), no matter how trivial. The good news is his rates are VERY reasonable and highly competitive. As a senior, that is very pertinent; exemplary treatment/services at FAIR charges. I have referred many friends to Dr. Mike. They are very thankful I did. Obviously, I absolutely recommend Dr. Mike Widener, at Farmhouse Family Pet Practice. (Formerly, Farmhouse Veterinary Hospital)

If you have a pet goose or duck, you will discover Dr Widener likes waterfowl as much as you do. He provided a plan of care for a chronically egg bound goose and recently repaired a very advanced vent prolapse which would have meant euthanasia or a painful death for another goose. He gave me ideas how to improve the nutrition of my waterfowl that I'd never heard of, and I saw benefits almost immediately. He is personable, researches constantly and takes the time to explain himself, which is very reassuring. His office is really a little farm house and very laid back and homey. I am glad I found his practice and will certainly continue to bring my critters to him.

We have entrusted our cats to the care of Dr. Michael Widener, Farmhouse Vetrinary Clinic for 20 years. Not only does he possess outstanding professiojnal skills, he provides care with compassion.
He exhibits a genuine concern for the health and well being of our companion animals and takes whatever time it needs to ensure we understand the benefits of preventive care, medical issues and care options available. We highly recommend him to anyone seeking a veterinarian.

My cats have been patients of Dr. Mike's for over 15 years. He has helped our cats to live long and happy lives due to his veterinary knowledge, experience, and care for our animals. He always calls promptly when we await test results and gives us advise in a caring but direct manner. We wouldn't take our pets anywhere else!

I have been going to Dr. Mike's with my numerous pets for almost 15 yrs. now, & happily will look no further. My beloved dog had Coon Hound Paralysis & nearly died. He was totally paralyzed & spent over a wk. hospitalized on IVs. Just last Saturday, I accidently ran over my 16yr. old cat, fracturing his pelvis. I have complete confidence in Dr.'s abilities, he's honest, approchable, willing to work with you, & TOTALLY has your furry family member's good at heart. I highly recommend him, & cannot believe anyone could have been unhappy with him. Maybe that individual didn't have their furry member's interest @ heart??

Doctor Mike has a passion for animals like no other vet I have seen. He is honest, real, keeps you informed so that you can make the best decisions for your situation and will not try to do or sell you any unneccessary things. He really gets down to the needs of our dear beloved family members. I met him in a moment of a crisis many years ago and he was completely there for me and my dog. Since then I have never looked back and have always gone to him. I have moved at times but will still travel to see Doctor Mike. He really does care above and beyond.

Dr. Widener has been our vet for years and he is, in our opinion, one of the best out there. When one of our dogs took ill last year, he stayed with him far into the night, hours after the office closed. He is a very caring man who takes his career as a vet above and beyond. You can tell that he loves animals of all kinds. He takes his time with each of the "kids" who come in to see him, whether the visit is for an illness, surgery, or just for a check-up and/or vaccinations. I personally have told all of my friends that he is the one to bring their pets to if they want the best of care. I thank him for all that he has done for us. Bringing your "fur babies" to Dr. Mike is the best thing that you can do for them.

I take my 4 dogs there and the care they have received is friendly, professional, and is directed to the needs of my dogs. I have nothing to say other the they are utmost professional in a charming old farmhouse setting.

On an exceptionally busy day, Dr. Widener took extra time to evaluate my aging guinea pig and recommend medications to make him more comfortable in his declining years. I appreciate his care and concern and highly recommend Farmhouse Vet Hospital.
