Clip-N-Clean is a good place to go

by Jessica M.

well I have taken my dog there a few times and always came out very happy. I did try a couple of other places and was very disappointed with the cuts I received and the cost. I think her price is very reasonable and the cuts have always came out very nice and I have a toy poodle. I do think it gets a little crowded in there but other than that I do not have any negative things to say. I will continue to go there.

Clip N Clean? More like Chop N Hack!

Clip N Clean? More like Chop N Hack!

My girlfriend and I have taken our toy yorkie to get his haircut 2 times now. The first time was a decent experience. He actually came out with a semi even haircut. The second had me questioning whether they used a weed wacker on him or not. I mean really, how much hair does a 3 pound dog have? I guess they didnt have time because of the other 60 dogs that were hanging out in kennels. We were told 2 different times to come back because our dog wasn't ready at the time they told us. It was way overpacked! I strongly suggest (because of the extreme heat in there) get your dog some gatorade or an IV shot before hand. Its quite sad how little puppies have to sit in such conditions. Even after all that treatment, perhaps a good haircut? I feel like I was completely ripped off. I do not recommend this place if you value your pet.

Clip-N-Clean is not the place to take a pet you love.

by R B.

I used to take my dog to Clip-n-Clean. For a while I got great service. Lynette remembered my name and how I wanted the cut done. However, I started noticing that there were still clumps of hair that should have been clipped (or even combed) or places clipped too close, and mats that hadn't been found. After the second bad grooming job, I decided not to go back. Then I thought if I had a business, I'd want to know. I called and talked to Lynette about it and said I thought maybe there were too many dogs. Well, that set her off and she was very rude after that. I gave it one more try because she said I could come in and get a free grooming, but she charged me anyway and it was still a lousy job. Way overbooked, too noisy, and too hot. I will never take my dogs there again.

Clip-N-Clean is a friendly place to bring your pet.

by angela s. | insider Insider | Rank: 24,591

I take my dog there and they do a good job. The owner even got my dog fixed for a great amount. She took him and picked him up for me. I don't see myself going anywhere else anytime soon.

Clip-N-Clean is the devil

by Liz T.

I took my cat there to get groomed and was charged way more then I initially told. I got him the lion shave and it was such a choppy job!! He had hot spots on his back and belly from being shaved too close to the skin. When I said something about it the owner snapped at me, I would never take any animal there ever agaiN!!!!!

For the Love of Dogs

by Laura A E.

Clip-N-Clean is a first rate salon. Lynnett cares for all animals and when I've had questions she's been great about answering them. I've had no problem with the seven animals I've taken over the last ten years. She clips the cats nails to ensure they don't get hurt-cats are difficult to clip. She engages the clients and gives them the dogs herself.
Per ratings below:
1. I've never seen two dogs in the same crate unless they were siblings
2. She allows the dogs to run and play in the back until they've been groomed and then kennels them. She tries to tell the owner when to pick the dog/cat up so they spend as little time in the crates as possible avoiding upsetting the animal
3. My dogs come home tired but that's because they've been playing all day and just the process of getting clipped is hard on them
4. It's hot in the back because of the dryers, that can't be helped
5. If a customer isn't satisfied with something she verifies what the owner wanted and fixes it immediately
6. I've never seen an unhappy owner leave her shop

Skin Lesions, Lethargy

by Amy B.

I took my little dog to Clip-N-Clean, and he was very much out of sorts. He is 6, so has been to the groomers many times before. I have never had him come home like this. It took him two days of moping around and looking upset before he started improving. I wanted so badly to be able to ask him what the whole experience was like, what had upset him so much. Wish I had a replay or something. He had a wide red sore on his chest, and the next day there were more that became apparent, dime-sized, some of them. I watched him, and they eventually scabbed over and healed on their own. I don't know what caused that to happen, but it's never happened before and he doesn't have any history of irritated skin or allergies. I feel I should share my experience...

I worked there

by Anonymous

There are both good and bad things to say about Clip-N-Clean.
The good: Lynette is a great person, she loves dogs and is excellent with them. The place is clean (even with dogs running haywire), the full time staff are competent and Lynette is an excellent groomer. The dogs that are there for day care get great love and doggie socialization and learning time.

The bad: They over book (take your dog there at the beginning of the week), the staff gets overwhelmed and often work overtime with no overtime compensation. The back gets incredibly hot...really, really hot. They take care of their preferred guests (those who have been going there for a long time will get a better deal and better service). All the normal staff are getting minimum wage (and some of them are learning to cut your dogs hair) so give them a break.

However, I love the doggie daycare on 6th that they own. They are excellent and the dogs do really love it.

awful place to work...

by Anonymous

that crazy woman is running a puppy mill!!! i ran my own groom shop for seven years, and i don't care how big your shop is, it is not safe to do that many dogs a day... she has two young men that bathe all the dogs where they use fabric softener in the bath to save money on soap... her son is the head bather/laundry boy. she has six tables in the very back where employ es stand for hours blow drying one dog after another. most shops don't mind if you take a look around before leaving your pup, however if you were to ask that crazy bag she would say no...

DO NOT take your pet here!!!!

by Crista C.

I have heard HORRIBLE things about this place! Lynette has been sued TWICE for dogs dying in her care due to overheating. That means she would've had to LEAVE the dogs alone in a kennel, with a dryer on and not check on them for HOURS!! The groomers are not allowed to talk to the clients. Sometimes they don't bathe the dogs and just "fluff" them up with powder and chop a little bit of hair off. They put dogs and cats that AREN'T in the same family, in the SAME kennel. They have a daycare there, and the dogs run around the salon AS THE GROOMERS, GROOM!!! What kind of place is that?? I have been told this by groomers I have worked with that knew people who worked there. People hired on usually don't last more than 2mos. This is a horrible place, and should NEVER be allowed to take care of anyones pets. I don't understand how people could have good things to say about Clip-n-Clean. Don't take your pet to a small salon that grooms 40-55 dogs a day..That should be a red flag.

This groomer gets no stars but it will only take one!!!

by William E.

The other few people whom had good reviews must have caught this place on a good day. I took my Yorkie there because of the first two reviews. To begin with they never return calls. When I picked up my baby he was almost thrown at me to start with then I noticed that his hair cut was poor at best. Choppy all over and they charged me $5 more than the person before me who had the same type of puppy. I noticed my Yorkie was very quiet on the way home and when I put him down he could hardly walk and acted very lethargic. I am watching him closely the rest of the night to make sure he comes out of it. PLEASE if you value your best friend DON'T take them to this groomer.

highest recommendation

by jim c.

I have known Lynette for more than 10 years, during which time she has cared for my three dogs, sometimes for extended periods while I was away on business travel. I learned of Lynette from family when first arriving in Tacoma and immediately recognized that she has a special love for animals. It was obvious that apart from being with me or family "my boys" could not be entrusted to anyone who would care for them more lovingly. Testament to her dedication to the well-being of Tacoma's pet citizens is her service with the Humane Society.

Always Welcomed with Open Arms

Lynette and her crew have been taking care of my animals for over 15 years. They are professional, caring and offer outstanding grooming. It's as though our dogs are part of the clip n clean family as soon as they run through the door. I highly recommend this business!

Loving Care

by Wanda M.

My husband and I have know Lynette for over 14 years. We met her when she had her shop on 21st.
She took care of our first dog Wansan and now takes care of our beloved pets.
She also takes our pets and cares for them when we are out of town.
Our pets love her, her family and all who work for her. We would not consider taking them anywhere else ever.

Thank You Lynette

A very costly experience

by Anonymous

I was referred to Clip-N-Clean from a friend. The employees were very cordial. However, when I got my dog home he was very lethargic. For a moment I thought that I possibly had the wrong dog. I called Lynette and she assured me that I had the correct dog and that he was probably tired. My puppy began breathing laboriously so I took him to my vet. Upon listening to his chest and taking an x-ray, it was discovered that he had fluid in his lungs. I immediately took his to an emergency vet hospital, where this was confirmed. In order to breathe he was put in an oxygen tent for 12+ hours and given medication. He was diagnosed with neurogenic pulmonary edema, due to choking. Granted, I know accidents happen. Some unconsciously. This was a $900.00 (out of my pocket) mishap. I've asked for compensation by Clip-N- Clean and 23 days later, with phones calls assuring me that it will be taken care, nothing has happened. My puppy was absolutly fine before his grooming session. He's doing fine now. I do not recommend this salon.

A Place Your Dog Can't Wait to Visit

by Nancy S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,275

Lynette and her crew offer the best in dog grooming services. We discovered this salon two and a half years ago when we adopted our first dog. Not only are the grooming fees reasonable, but they do a good job! You can almost always get your pet in the same day that you call and they work around your schedule, if at all possible, for convenient pick up. When you arrive, your dog is welcomed as if it were a family member. I know someone who drives all the way from Yelm to use Clip N Clean. You won't be sorry you tried this pet salon.

PROS: It's a joy to do business here!
