This is the office to go to in Roseville. I called this morning with a tooth that was KILLING me. Stacy was so nice over the phone I was so scared to come in and she made me feel so comfortable. She was also able to get me an appointment TODAY for my tooth and Dr. Cruz took away my pain. This office ROCKS!!!!

Give them a try I have referred my wife and kids here as well.

I just had my first appointment with rocky ridge family dental and am so pleased to write that my experience was NOTHING like I have read online. Dr. Cruz was amazing as well as his assistants and front staff. The office is very clean and all my insurance benefits were clearly explained. I would recommend this office to everyone I know. My dental anxiety is HIGH and the entire office was so good to me. I can??t say I am excited to go back for my filling but I am sure that I will be taken care of.

You know, in my last post I AM THE idiot. What was I thinking in writing about a place I have never been to. I am a clues person sometimes and have no understanding that people can just write anything they want
on the web. Like every person on the internet is a honest person and have no reason to lie. I sound like Iam 9 years old. Well, I am coming clean and calling myself the idiot for writing on a review when I have never been to the place.

Christine Y, what are you an idiot. Of course the office would tell you that only those that came off the street (like that would matter, all should be treated with respect and quality of care) or did not pay would write it. I am sure they are being honest. They have no reason to lie. And I haven't even been to the office but over lots of websites, it appears there is good reason to be concerned.

Rude! Obnoxious! All about the money...I went for a 2nd opinion. Dr. Cruz appeared capable and trustworthy, BUT...he recommended a product that would crack when I grind my teeth. When I asked Mr. Sanchez if I could get something else, he refused. Then, I noticed that they were charging was $935 when my fee chart from the insurance company said my charge should only be $280! When I said that they were required to offer every product on the fee schedule, he said, "We don't have to do anything! If you want to come here, you have to do what we say and pay what we charge! Jerk!

Where to begin... (I warn you I am wordy) I have been a patient of theirs for a few years now and stumbled upon this site today while looking for their phone number (oddly, it pulled up first when I typed in Rocky Ridge Family Dental).

They have always done a very good job for my wife and I. Every time we had any issue (for example once a crown was a tad too high and needed to be filed down) they promptly took care of it once they were told it felt a little "off." Obviously they can't read minds so as with any dentist, you need to communicate to get what you need.

Dr. Dean Ahmad who used to (and I think still does) perform certain special procedures for them is the best! I had a very complex procedure that he did a great job on with absolutely no pain, while I had a friend who had the same procedure done elsewhere for over $5,000 and she was in pain from it every day (though sadly it is now the least of her problems as she was just diagnosed with MS).

I never had any problems with the office staff at Rocky Ridge, all of whom were very pleasant to my wife and I (though they are sometimes quite busy). I'm not sure why anyone would have too much contact with the office manager unless they did not pay their bills, were there looking for a job, were looking to sell something, or like me had an insurance question (he gave us some good advice about our insurance coverage). He does not sit at the receptionist desk or in the treatment area and I think just sits in a back room all day doing all the accounting/insurance stuff and you rarely see him. So I tend to believe that the low reviews did indeed come from people they refused to hire or who did not want to pay their bills.

Are they expensive? About average I would say (though I am not an expert). What dentist isn't somewhat expensive these days, it is the nature of the beast. I've been to much more expensive and much less expensive dentists. My dad who used to take us to a very "old school" dentist who was like 70 years old and liked to "keep in practice" and would charge only $5 for either a filling or an minor extraction (this was in the early 80's), but who refused to use any novacain (sp?). I still remember him saying "Just grip that chair as tight as you can son..." (to his credit though the two fillings he gave me lasted 20+ years). I also went to a very expensive dentist while I was in college (and stupid I guess) who put in fillings which began falling out after only 4 years.

Are they perfect? No. Perfect would be if they paid me to go to them -- hence only 4 stars (when you find that dentist who pays you, you let me know). Nevertheless, they are overall the best dental office we have been to and we intend on continuing to go there.

TIP: If money is tight and you can't afford some treatment, find out how important it is, and how much it costs before you have it done. Maybe it is something you can live without (e.g. whitening) or maybe it is something which seems expensive (like root cleaning) but which is cheaper to get done early before it develops into a big problem needing extensive repairs later.

Like most places they probably tell you what is recommended (change your oil every 3,000 miles) rather than the minimum necessary to get by (change your oil every 6,000 miles). Also, if you are like me, you will discover that certain dental plans are almost worthless in that such insurance only partially covers the bare minimum of work (which in my experience most good dentists are unwilling to do because the patient will undoubtedly be unhappy with such bare minimum work).

Finally, I note that apart from whitening, we have never had any real cosmetic work or othodontia (sp?) done, so I can't say anything one way or the other about how well that do that stuff.

This office is HORRIBLE!! We went in for a second opinion only after our primary dentist said my 6 YEAR OLD needed a root canal...The dentist and RDA were kind and informative....the office manager ART was a jerk. Refused to give us price info on the cash cost. Refused to run our insurance to see what the cost would be with that because we weren't official patients. Refused to call AETNA (after Aetna told us they'd give a verbal auth to see my daughter sooner for the work sh needed done.) So AETNA called them and faxed all paperwork, he STILL refused to schedule us until "after the 1st of the month" when our entire family would be authorized. HE wouldn't approve my daughter being scheduled after Aetna gave him ALL authorization to be treated early. HE REFUSED! Our insurance actually called us back and gave immediate authorization to find another dentist for her. They also made notations regarding their own experience so that a formal complaint could be lodged.

My next door neighbor who has very nice white teeth recommends Rocky Ridge Dental. I went online to do a little research to find their phone number and address. I could not believe all the negative comments on this site so I had to call. After talking to the receptionists to make sure my company??s insurance would be ok, I asked if they knew about all the negative comments. I was relieved to learn that the person that all the comments below or above were refereeing to would only come from people who walked in off the street to sell them something or did not pay for their service; that is a part of his job. My visit and my husbands visit to their office was just like going to any other professional business, we were treated with respect, and given clear understanding what to expect on our follow up visit. I would recommend them!

Patient Beware- told me they would honor insurance co. rate schedule. When I showed up they wanted 3.5x those amounts. I tried to discuss it with them and even showed them my plan benefits. They refused and said they only do "upgraded work" - completely contradictory to what was said prior to my appt. I believe their plan was to get me in the chair and then I would have to agree to their rates. I left and changed offices.

I'm actually pretty shocked by these reviews! My husband and I started going to this office a little over a year ago. We both feel very comfortable with the girl that cleans our teeth. She along with everyone else that we deal with are always so nice and make you feel comfortable. I don't like how they will work on you and then have to leave to work on someone else. It can take awhile if you are getting a cavity filled or something more than a teeth cleaning. But it doesn't stop us from continuing to do business here.

This office has great doctors and wonderful front staff. Well it had wonderful front staff, until she left. :( The office manager now he is a joke. He takes advantage of everyone person that walks into that office. Just be aware of what you are being charged for and why it is so different then what your insurance says it is. Don't sign the paper they have you sign until you talk to your insurance company. Trust me when it comes to trying to get a refund back from this place well again another joke. The office manager enjoys holding your money until you start threatening things. Does it really need to come to that. They hygienist there is great and really cares about you along with the doctors. Just be careful and make sure you read everything you are signing because trust me the office manager will some how take more of your money then the insurance says and he will ignore your calls and won't return them either like he is running scared!

I have been going to Rocky Ridge Family dental for a couple of years. I have found the staff to be wonderful. I had problems with a crown due to my own fault, but went in and was seen immediately. When I walk in they all know me by name and greet me. One of the hygenists is wonderful - like a mother hen and has worked with Dr. Cruz to make sure that my smile is perfect and beautiful. I haven't been to another dentist here in CA, but find that the cost is doable. They DO give you and estimate before ANY work is done, so I don't believe that they didn't tell you beforehand (a previous review). During one procedure, I made payment arrangements BEFORE I had the work done, so they do work with you.I even took my boyfriend in who is terrified of dentists, to get his wisdom teeth pulled. He had no problems, was relaxed and comfortable with everybody in there. He said it was a good experience.

Just had our first visit to Rocky Ridge dental. To be honest, I was a little scared after reading such negative reviews. I was on my guard. I was met with friendly but very busy office staff. The phone really never stopped ringing. As soon as my paper work was filled out and put into the computer, my 2 kids (12 and 8) were brought in for their cleaning. I was asked back to the exam area when the dentist was doing the exam. She showed me the x-rays and had me look into their mouths at the problem areas. She was very nice and explained everything very clearly. She wants me to have a consult with the ortho before we put fillings in baby teeth. Other dentists never gave me the option before. Said it had to be done.

My kids both need fillings, I knew they would. I've been to several dentists and the prices here are no greater than others. All dentist stick it to you. It's the way of the world.

I asked my kids when it was all over, how their experience was. They were both totally fine with it. Said the hygienist and the dentist were very nice.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience. Seems like there haven't been many recent reviews. Maybe the bad staff was let go?

I hope if you go to this dentist and you have a good experience, you will write a review.

Pros: Example: best croissants in town

Cons: What are the drawbacks?

I would NOT recommend this place at all to anyone. They have the worst communication skills i have ever seen. They would not refund me my money on something that they did that I did not want done in the first place. They never called to reschedule my friends (notice that friends is plural) appointment they were lucky that my friends had called them that day to reschedule their own appointments. The back office how ever were very polite I did like them very much, they were very professional and very kind. Don't sign anything until you are done with your visit and get a list of what they are doing on you before you go in. I know that they are all about customer services cause how they were talking to me but, this customer is not happy at all. I feel i should be refunded for their lack of communication. I will never be returning there even if I do get my refund back just because I don't want their lack of communication skills to effect my wallet.

I did go to this office and am still trying to figure it out. I am definately going to have a second opinion at another dentist I am very familiar w/ and trust. I went to Dr. Cruz. He was very gental and numbed me probably more than I have ever been numb. However, I agree, after my three hr. treatment, I had to pay a very large bill. They were not willing to work w/ me at all and said that it goes strait to collections if I did not pay that day(a threat!) In addition my temporary crowns were the ugliest I have ever seen! I am very concerned how my real ones will look if this is satisfactory to the office. Lastly, I have had a major cold sore in the area were they worked.

This place is awful. They will find a way to pinch as many dollars (or hundreds) out of you as they can. They "expanded" into another location, so don't believe that its a good old family practice. The dentists do okay work, not the best, but, the staff and manager make it intolerable. Personally, i don't like the dentist working on me for 20 mins then hopping to the next room for 20 mins then back and out again. Why should I make time to devote entirely to you for a few hours when you cannot deliver the same? A word of advice, if you have a PPO, talk to all of your friends and family members and ask where they go. Then go to the one that you like most. It is worth it to pay slightly more out of your pocket for better service and far better results.

This place is unreal. I don't know how it stays in business. Well, unsuspecting customers most likely. Save yourself a headache and find another dentist pronto.

Pros: Easy to get an appointment

Cons: Everything about this place

Well we're not as angry as Scott, but we also haven't given them any money (or had the work done yet) and have been questioning the rates with no answers from the office.

The charges for work to be done seemed very high, checked with our insurance company and they would appear to be wanting to charge us full price and not the copay price. The difference is $685 per crown in our case. We've questioned the office about it and have had ZERO reponse after weeks of questioning, other than, well that's the price. We have DeltaCare insurance, maybe it's different for other insurers, but we're moving on and mentioning this to the insurance commissioner.

The Dentist and assistants are ok... BUT the office staff are MAJOR CROOKS!!!!!!! They over charge, bill incorrectly, and will tell you that your insurance wont cover certain items, when in fact they are covered...Then when you catch their "mistake" they wont give you your money back!!
The office manager is a TOTAL JER# !! He is very unprofessional and wont give you the time of day. He definately should not be managing ANYTHING!!!
Save yourself the stress and money, not to mention the time it takes to fight with them and only wind up having to file small claims paperwork..

I have a massive fear of dentists. Massive. Every one I have ever been to has either hurt me badly because they didn't listen to what I told them, or done bad work I payed for later.

I was recommended here by a friend and VERY glad I was. Dr. Cruz was kind and gentle. He listened to everything I had to say, and didn't go forward until he was positive I was numb/comfortable. You could tell his staff respected him just by listening to them interact. Speaking of the staff, they were friendly and helpful. I made it pretty well known I had a large fear of being there, and the entire time they were reassuring and playful. I had a lot of questions and they took the time to answer all of them patiently and completely.

The day I was there they were packed. There were six other people in the waiting room. I was worried I would be rushed out because they didn't have enough time, but it was the exact opposite. Dr. Cruz and his staff multi-tasked all of us without making the patients feel neglected or rushed.

I've never been to a dentist I have enjoyed going to. They will have my business, and also my friends, and families from here on out. If you are new there, and there is any merit to the other reviews, I would suggest you ask for Dr. Cruz. They may have not had him, and it made all the difference in the world for me.

OMG...! This is the worst dental office ever, rude staff and the worst one The office manager! They do not care about there patients, that's very clear, they make you wait for hours at a time, treatment is not done correctly, I had to have all my treatment re-done, very close to needing several root canals, thanks to them. During my visit they swapped supplies from my room to another w/ out even sterilizing anything, I woke up w/ many sores in my mouth the next day. Shelley G. Must be crazy or made up, because this office is nothing like she say's.

I truly believe the two posted comments written by "Anonymous," and "Jean M.," regarding this office. I have spent what seems to be a "lifetime" in Dentists chairs, and I believe, make that I KNOW, the two reviews are 100% unwarranted, and ludicrous!! To begin with the review signed by Anonymous, was no doubt written by a person who was seeking employment, and wasn't hired. I would tend to believe if someone has worked in an "OFFICE," for 20 yrs, they would indeed know the word contains two "F"s in it. Perhaps as a prerequisite spelling was a must, after all, it is a Professional Office. The second review is completely untrue!! The girls at the front desk are EXTREMELY courteous, pleasant, and always a pleasure to see, let alone have contact with. I am not a real easy person to please, and the office staff has done their very best to see that I am greeted, treated and shown the utmost respect, and I have nothing but kind words to say about them. I cannot imagine anyone, let alone a patient being treated in the manner "Jean M." spoke of, maybe P.M.S., or her very own attitude played a role in the writing of her review? Here is a hint Jean M., take a lesson, perhaps two, in sentence structuring, you could definitely use it!!Lastly, regardless of the Office Manager, regardless of the Front Desk employees, neither of the reviews actually contains information regarding the Dentists who work there. Unfortunately, I have had a lot of dental work done in my life, and I believe they employ one of the best Dentists this area has to offer. You are given 100% when comes to her patients. When an unexpected problem occurred, I was seen by a co-worker of hers, who was absolutely wonderful and made sure I was given the best of care that a patient could expect.Sincerely,Shelley G.

I am actually a dental professional in the field over 20 yrs. I went in there for an interview with the ofice manager, whom was a male, and he was very rude and unprofessional. I would never send anyone there.

The office is not only full of rude people. The one guy that is the manager is the worst. He was so rude to me I could not believe it. I think he forgot I am his customer and without me he would not be in business. After leaving I called my insurance to complain. Then i also found out I was overcharged!
Beware of this office, find someone else.
