Service at H-Mart is abominable. I tried to return a defective appliance and was refused because I had bought it ten days earlier. Now, while I understand that H-Mart doesn't want customers asking for refunds on food left out for a few weeks, I don't see how this applies to articles made of plastic and metal. The management at H-Mart was also rude, dismissive, and insulting. I will take my business elsewhere. Pacific Ocean on Alameda has a better and fresher selection of produce. Costco has seafood that is as good. Whole Foods carries poultry of the same quality. And H-Mart's prices aren't exactly stellar. Judging from other reviews on this site, I don't think the owners of H-Mart understand how to do business in America. You can't screw customers over with impunity forever. I expect H-Mart will eventually go the way of Blockbuster. This is sad, because I like to see variety in supermarkets.

Fantastic store with better fish variety I've seen anywhere outside of European coastal countries like Belgium, Spain or France; shop there every 3 weeks or so. Customer service? Who cares; if it's the customer service you want, go to Wal-Mart. If it is fresh Pompano or Red Snapper - now you know where to go :)

Worst Customer Service/Return policy...My wife and I bought a rice cooker supposed to be the top of the line(Cuckoo Brand) which cost us more than $400. We only used it once and second time it took 3 hrs to cook the rice, and 3rd time power doesn't even come on. We had this rice cooker for not even 30 days. We took the rice cooker back to H-Mart in Denver, driving all the way from Colorado Springs. When we spoke with the Customer Service, they gave us the usual run around, go speak with this person, oh the person that can help you isn't here, etc. We finally spoke with suppose to be a manager in charge for the night, we asked to have the rice cooker exchanged with same one and we were told that is not possible. We were told that only thing H-Mart can do is send the rice cooker back to the company for repair which can take anywhere from 2 weeks or longer. If we wanted a refurbished rice cooker, we would not have spent over $400. Manager informed us that no refund/exchange/or store credit is allowed. Any place such as Wal-Mart/Home Depot/Sears, JC Penney, even their closest competition M-Mart/E-Mart all said they would exchange or full refund within 30 days. H-Mart should be ashamed of their unfair and irresponsible policy. You would expect from such a big company with potential to stand behind the products they carry and sell. Obviously this H-Mart store does not feel they have to guarantee any electronic items they sell to the public. I would never recommend anyone from buying electronic items from H-Mart until they get on board with rest of the US store and their return policy. This store does not care about you once the product is sold. I will be contacting Consumer Protection Agency to look into this store and their irresponsible policy. Oh yeah, we are Korean couple and they treated us just as badly as all other reviewers that complained about the Customer Service. I just retired from Air Force after serving 25 years, and I can't believe we have Korean Company that come here and do such a shady business. H-MART need to listen to their customers complaints closely. I have never been to a place where no one in the store care from top management down to Customer Service Desk. What a shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also am very disappointed in Hmart . People are writing about poor customer service by employees and Management .. Well my wife was working there. She is Korean .. There is definantley a problem with this Supermarket who is a Bully in every aspect of the business .. Management are usually Godfathered in if they are Family or a relative or close acquaintance of Hanareum usually with little or no education beyond high school and very little knowledge on customer relations here in the United states .. The employees in fact are silent because they can not afford to lose their jobs because they are not citizens of the US ( either here on a student visa or they have some other temp visa which they violate and stay in the US illegally ) so of course they will not be compassionate to you if their BOSS isn't .. They show total loyalty to the BOSS even though they are over worked and insulted and cursed at by their superiors .. What is worse is that if you are working there and you are not Korean you WILL get paid substantially less for the same job your Korean co-worker is doing .. A lot of Mexicans work here
And Hmart employs them because they will work for less and keep hush hush about the abuse they withstand from their employer because in fact they are also shady with US documentation .. The management has extremely high egos and speak down to us Americans especially if you are of color or Latino . This part is what really posses me off because my Grandfather and Uncles fought in the invasion of North Korea to South Korea to keep these very same
people from living in a communist government .. They saw North Korea coming with there tanks and ran so the US stepped in and lost thousands and thousands of Soldiers so they could enjoy Freedom and they have the nerve to come here and Bully .. They try to Monopolize the Korean food market by threatening to cease business with whoever distributes products to other Korean supermarkets .. They terminate the jobs of their employees if they work part time at one of their competitions supermarkets .. They break at least 10 laws governing employee rights .. They dehumanize their customers and they always have the right and the customer will either have to shut up and leave or just deal with
The SUPREME KOREAN attitude they impose on us .. I will not shut up and I hope somebody shuts them down and another Asian market will bring us Good SERVICE .. I am not afraid of them and more people should stand up and get them out of business because
Humans are humans and nobody is better then anybody else and common courtesy should be a priority on all levels .. So Hmart my final word to you is ., I Robert R. Muniz am not afraid of you because you are a Bully .., And I don't hide like you do when confronted ., I live here in Little Ferry New Jersey and my phone number is 732-513-5995 .. I at least give you a chance to defend your actions .. By the way !! I too served in the same Military who to this day is protecting your buttes from getting spanked by Red China and North Korea .. 50 years of Freedom up to date so respect your clients if you want to do business here in United States Of America !!!!

The in store workers are great, they are very helpful but... THE MANAGEMENT IS HORRIBLE. Their treatment of their employees is horrible. The unfair treatment and biases views are short of terrible! The Manager's treatment of their employees is awful and there needs to be a SERIOUS change!

I have never been to this market. But, I must applaud the people working at this store. I work in customer service and the people I encounter on a regular basis need to be told where to get off. Customers are lazy, rude and too needy. Take a walk around the store and try to figure things out for yourself. You can here to shop... then shop. No one is obligated to wait on you hand and foot. Hurry up and buy!!!

WOW! I'm surprised at all of the negative comments on here. I've got to say that I've been going to this asian grocery for a couple of years now and never had a bad experience as far as the quality of food available and their prices. Granted, it's a little difficult to get help in figuring out what some things are, because noone speaks english (or at least doesn't admit to it). But the produce and meat/seafood is beyond compare with the regular grocery stores in town. Prices are great! I buy all my veggies and herbs here now, as the quality/quantity/price cannot be beat! Occasionally I'll find a wrinkled pepper or peach in the bunch, but the vast majority are perfect and not overripe. Again, customer service could probably be a little better, but it's still worth it for the prices and quality of the items. (For example: I still can't get over the size and taste of the artichokes we bought there recently. 3 times the size you find at King Soopers for the same price - they barely fit in our soup bowls - and the flavor was out of this world!!)
The only reason I won't give 5 stars, is for lack of help for non-asian language speaking customers. We got better assistance from asking our questions to other customers.

I agree with all of the reviews saying customer service here is awful. I went today to shop for the vegetables (which are a nice variety, but not fresh, often wrinkled and brused, even moldy on occasion, but okay prices) The chshier seemed annoyed that I was in his line. Any time I ask where some product is, I am unually not understood and the person 'helping' just tells me 'we no have'. I've had workers wag their finger in my face as if I should not dare to inconvieninece them. It really is irritating. I almost never have a plesant experience there. If they were not close by and had the flour and other vegetables I cannot find elsewhere, I would never shop there. But if you know what you are after, can locate it without assistance, and don't mind ever being told thank you or have a nice day, or even have a smile or a nod of gratitude for you business, then you will be okay.

I have a very bitter experience from H mart. This shop i would say carries low standard items and the customer service is annoying. The persons there are not friendly and would never bother about customers. The shop itself is very shabby and dirty and the vegetables are not fresh...never will step inside this shop again!!!

Customers who care about their community should seek out a local CSA or Community Supported Agriculture instead of shopping at this store that offers inexpensive produce and substandard customer service. At H-Mart, there is very little customer service. They dismiss their customer complaints as inconvenient. DON'T SHOP THERE, YOU WILL BE SORRY!

Hmart is an asian grocery store, I used to shop there once a week. However I had a very bad experience in H-Mart, I was really shocked, it was happened in H-Mart, in the United Sate!

I sent complain letter to Hmart website, no any responses at all. Below is the letter that I wrote to them in July,2008:

Today I shopped at H-Mart as usual, I went to customer service to told Song Lee that the mackerel I brought last Saturday night was missing, I called customer service on July 13th morning (last Sunday), someone advised that we could bring original receipt to customer service in 7 days. Song Lee let me wait for more than 20 minutes, then she asked me to go to her office to show me the video and told me there was nothing missed, therefore she didn't agree that the mackerel was missing. I explained to her that I got everything when I arrived home but the mackerel, Song Lee told me she couldn't do anything for me because of the video, that is the enough evidence. She told me she couldn't credit back to customer if he/she missed the items. From my understanding if she assumes and insists on that I received everything only from that video which means I am a dishonest person. This is an insult, I totally not agree with this result! The mackerel is missed. That is not my fault, the result I waited for more than 20 minutes is that I am not honest, this is unacceptable!

Song Lee told me she is a manager of customer service after I requested to see customer service manager, I am surprised she is a manager because she doesn't know any skills to solve the problem. I don't think other managers would have the same attitude like her's. Therefore I requested to see her supervisor, when I explain to her supervisor, Song Lee shouted to me say:"shut up" I was shocked. Does manager has a right to insult the customer?? What is the H-Mart concept on the customer satisfaction? Though I got the credit back from her supervisor, it was over 40 minutes. I am so mad about the customer service in that store, I didn't feel any respects in the whole process, however the supervisor apologized to me that she didn't do anything wrong, but I believe Song Lee owns me an apologize!

I hope H-Mart Corporation will seriously concern about the customer service, because customer service is really important, I wish everyone can feel H-Mart's 4 Hs, "Healthy", "Humane", "Happy", and "Heartful".

I Found a rusted old NAIL in a package of dried anchovies (packaged by hmart) and called to speak to supervisor, Mr. Lee. First, the person would not tell me the manager's name. Then when he finally did, said he did not know his first name. I left a message to have Mr. Lee call me back. 1 week later, no call so i called and again, Mr. LEE is not in. The person on the phone asked if they could help and i said that i wanted to speak with mr. Lee. Then i was transferred to a woman who again transferred me to "Chong" who told me that he could not speak english and non one else in the store could and then hung up. When i called back and asked him why he hung up he asked my what i wanted and i repeated that i want Mr. Lee to call me back and he hung up on me again.

Please read the other reviews on their customer service. Truly, the people working there are not trained on how to service, help, treat, appreciate their customers. We are only $$$ to them. Consider going to Mmart which is nearby. It's sad that hmart is taking advantage of their monopoly of asian products by taking their customers for granted. we are only supporting this treatment by continuing to shop there. if you continue to shop, at least make your voice heard if you have a legitimate complaint. DO NOT let the big chain silence you.

I live about 40 minutes away from this store.
So I come here about once a month to restock my korean supplies.
They have my kimchi, dangjang, dried lavers or seaweed, and dried anchovies for the soup stock.
I especially like their instore made kimchi which they sell in plastic bags.
They seem to taste better than the other brands. They have lots of sales for items that I need a lot of like seaweed or dried laver.
Don't forget to try out their korean kimbap (sort of like korean version of the california roll) that they sell for only $3 at the restaurant near the front.
The lines can be long at times but they usually move quickly.
I am very grateful Denver has a such a large and well stocked Korean market.

Just as Andrew mentioned in his review, the employees here do not care at all about you or your experience...only your money. We were confronted by a cashier telling us that a 2 for 1 special was not, and we should read...it turns out she was wrong, and no apology at all from her or anyone. I hate that place...go to E Mart.

I had the worst ever experience of all grocery shopping in my life at this store. The customer service is non-existent and confrontational.
I purchased a box of radish (along with 240$ worth of grocery). There were only open boxes of radish on the floor. When I asked the cashier see if they can get me a new box, they said I should go get the open box. So, I brought the box to the counter (about 35lb from other side of the store). They do apparently do not have any helper who can bring this box to front.
When I brought up the box, the cashier decided without using the scale I had too much, that I she took out bunch of the radish, and said that is enough. I said, I wanted you to weigh
to ensure that I was getting the right amount. She was peeved.
I insisted. When she measured it, it was full 5-6Lb lower
in weight than the posted weight of the box. She was getting
testy. She checked the weight three times to ensure that
I was not cheating her out of the precious radish. She told me
I should not be holding up the line. The cashier never once
said she made mistake, but rather remained confrontational.
She never said, sorry or it was her mistake.

At H-Mart there is not a single customer accessible
weigh in the store. You have apparently take the produce
to the counter to get it weighed. I think, this is illegal. I have
never been to a grocery store in all my life that did not
have customer accessible weigh. When the store first opened
it had scales at various locations, not anymore.

One phrase of "I was wrong" or "Sorry" would have resolved
this matter. But, she was confrontational not at all sorry. She
just wanted me out of the way. Purchasing 240$ worth of
grocery apparently did not make any difference.

So, I went to the customer service desk. I waited for the store manager. I told him the account of what happened. Store manager also did not care. I asked him where are the scales? He said, you can take the grocery to the counter (or specialty shop counter). I asked him about the lack of service level. He said almost nothing. just listened to us. But he did not say anything he was going to go to improve the service. I pointed out to him, the cashier, but he did not even care to speak to her; rather, he just walk away from us and the cashier as if nothing at all happened.

I have never had this poor customer service in any store. These
people simply did not care.

Do not shop there if you want a good customer service. Or wish to
be treated as a customer.

The grocery store, content and quality have gone down
significantly ever since the store opened about year ago.
The types and number of the items have to this
reviewer's eye have gone down, and the quality of the
meat, and produce also have gone down in quality.

If I could give NO STAR, I would. What a badly managed
store.

This store is visited by all Asians for their reasonable prices and variety.

They could put more Indian Grocery to attract the lucrative
South Asian clientele.

I love to shop at this Asian market and I shop here every week for vegetables and see food. One major advantage of this store is that we get the Asian vegetables at this store. Their sea food section is great since you can get fresh seafood here. I am a regular here when it comes to buying fish, crab and shrimp since you can get them fresh. They also have variety of sea foods, chicken, lamb, pork etc in the frozen section. The pricing is also reasonable here

This is an Asian market that the Asians in the Denver area can be happy about. The store has a nice collection of vegetables, fruits and grocery items. Asian vegetables that will not be available in other stores will be available here. The prices are also very reasonable. The highlight of this store is the meat section. This shop is the best stop for seafood. Fish, Crab, Squid, Shrimp....name it and youll get it at this store. They have fresh as well as frozen seafood. They also carry other meat varieties like Pork, Chicken, Lamb etc. The store also has a separate section for eye care, bedding. I do my vegetable and seafood shopping from this place every week. Their vast collection and the prices have made not only me but many of friends a regular for this shop. This shop is the place you need to go if you are looking for Asian vegetables and fresh seafood at a very reasonable price.
