Ratings_icons The Children's Center is a great preschool

Brian H.

Our family recently switched from another school that was spent a lot of time with special needs children. We felt our child really wasn't being challenged, and now he has a structured classroom that is providing him with skills he will need in kindergarten next year. We are very happy with this school.

Ratings_icons The Children's Center is AWESOME!

Lisa H.

I have been a teacher at this school since it opened I feel it is important to clarify the posting by "Anonymous." The child who was "asked to leave" was only asked after the parents refused to seek outside resources for their child who we felt desperately needed additional help in certain areas. These parents also refused to provide medical records for the child, which is mandatory through the State of Colorado. We wanted nothing more than for this child to succeed, and therefore we referred him to outside resources. If we were in it for the money, we would have let this child continue to be disruptive in the class and ignore the MAJOR red flags about his behavior and physical issues. Due to confidentiality issues, I can not elaborate. That being said, it is our goal at The Children's Center to make sure each child's needs are being met, and if we feel they need specialists, such as speech therapy, OT etc, then they are referred to Child Find, an amazing resource through the State of Colorado that provides free services for young children. They then continue at The Children's Center with this additional help. What makes us sad as educators is when parents will not take the necessary steps to ensure their child is getting the most out of their education. We love our families and look forward to another amazing school year.

All the comments sound great, however, the post where the child was simply sent home with a dismissal letter definitely raises a red flag. Does not seem like a right thing to do on school's behalf...Imagine your child and the effect it might have on her/him if they were simply kicked out. The issue should have been addressed with the parents and worked on before sending a letter home.
Of course, there are always two sides to each story....

Ratings_icons An Excellent Preschool

Jessica L.

After working in childcare and early childhood for 6 years, I was terrified to send my 4 year old to preschool. I had seen firsthand what a loving and challenging environment could do for a child, but I had also experienced the opposite. However, once I toured The Children's Center I found new hope. My son had huge separation anxiety and informed me every day that he would NOT be attending school. After seeing The Children's Center, hearing about their philosophy, and meeting the teachers I felt that this was the school that could put both of our fears to rest... and it has! I was prepared for World War III on his first day, but nothing! He did amazing that day and every day since. He is now in his second year at the school and my daughter is set to start in the fall. The teachers have truly become an extension of our family. The school allows you to drop in at your convenience to help in the classroom or just enjoy the constantly rotating themes and projects. I feel that my child is challenged both academically and socially, nurtured as any 5 year old should be, and TRULY known.
Now my only concern is that the same will not be true of kindergarten, which my son informs me he will NOT be attending :)

Ratings_icons Amazing School with Talented Teachers and Staff

Stephanie F.

I have had both of my children go through the Children's Center. It such an amazing school. They truly understand the balance between loving and caring about each child, learning, socialization, and discipline.

Each of the teachers there is talented, kind, and wonderful in their own special way. I have felt truly blessed to have had the opportunity to have my children at the Children's Center.

They have so many wonderful, unique, exploratory, fun ways for the children to learn. Every time I am there to observe or volunteer, I am amazed at the opportunities the kids have to understand what the lesson is. They have a large activity room with more activities and toys than a child could ever ask for, individual classrooms for each class that express the joy that this school has for teaching, and an outside playground that is outstanding.

My older daughter is now in 2nd grade and the Children's Center put her far above the standard for entering kindergarten. She is still excelling and I know that is in part due to her pre-school experience at the Children's Center. My younger daughter is currently enrolled and is excited every day to go to school.

I could not imagine sending my children to any other school. They are a "family" there and they have always treated my children and my family as their own.

I am overwhelmingly grateful for all they have done for us.

Ratings_icons Wonderful School

Sarah H.

The Children's Center is the best preschool I have ever visited. I have 3 sons. My oldest two each had 2 wonderful years at The Children's Center and I am excited to be sending my youngest there next fall. The teachers are top notch. They are the most nurturing teachers I have ever seen. They do a great job facilitating educational programs and providing an atmosphere that is friendly and comfortable for the kids. Parents are always welcome to stay and observe or help out. They also offer a fun parent's night out program twice a month, which my boys love to attend. My son's Kindergarten teacher said she could tell he was well prepared for Kindergarten and I know that I have The Children's Center to thank for that. I encourage anyone looking for a great preschool to make an appointment to see The Children's Center.

Ratings_icons We walked in the door and I knew we had found our new home!

Jennifer S.

I looked at eight different preschools for my son. The second I walked into Children's Center, I knew I had found the right school. The preschool has a wonderful activity room with constantly changing themes, various play stations and an arts and crafts area. The kids are always challenged, excited and surprised by what will come next. My son was so taken with this room when we toured the school that he didn't cling to me or ask to leave. This was not the case with any of the other preschools we toured! I guess you could say I chose this school for my son but in a sense, he chose it for himself.

The classes are thoughtfully put together to create a nice mixture of boys and girls as well as taking into consideration younger 3's, older 3's, younger 4's, older 4's, etc. Various classes then come together to play in the activity room and this has given my son the chance to interact with many different kids. It has also given him the opportunity to respect as well as answer to different teachers.

Speaking of the teachers, they are EXCELLENT and in my opinion, the best in the field. Every child is greeted with a hug and a smile and the personal attention the teachers manage to give each child is also astonishing. The director gives the same care to the students and it shows because I have found all of the kids I know in this school to thrive in the Children's Center environment.

What is also wonderful is the attention the preschool gives to siblings who do not even attend the school yet. My younger sons are greeted with just as much love. After I drop my son off, I am also given the freedom to allow my younger boys to play in the activity room before the students use the room. This is such a great opportunity because it will help my son make the transition into preschool once he is old enough to attend. It touches my heart to see ALL of the teachers give so much to their students as well as their students' siblings. This feels like such a gift!

The environment is clean. The toys and materials are up to date. The lessons are creative and thoughtful and really give the children a chance to learn in a challenging yet fun way.

Lastly, when I pick my son up at the end of the day, he ALWAYS greets me with a SMILE. Who could ask for anything more?

Ratings_icons Undoubtedly the best preschool anywhere

Jennifer R.

Our two sons have attended preschool at The Children's Center over the past 4 years, and it has been the best education we could ever ask for. The environment is nurturing and the teachers are world class. These are real TEACHERS... not childcare workers. Children are engaged in hands-on activities and inspired to love learning. Socialization skills are also modeled and expected to be followed. Children are corrected in loving ways and never made to feel unloved for even a moment. The staff cares about the safety and wellness of all students and is protective of its students. My boys have loved every moment spent at TCC, and we look forward to our daughter attending in the future. I have recommended TCC countless times to friends and will continue to do so.

Ratings_icons We loved this school!!!

kelly g.

My daughter attended preschool here for the last two years. She loved going to school every day. The teachers were AWESOME!
They greeted each child with a hug and a lot of attention every single day. Any behaviour problems with the kids were dealt with
immediately. I think the previous poster must have a very disruptive child that was causing the other kids problems and that was probably why he was asked to leave. My only regret is that they did not offer kindergarten - we would have loved to continue sending our daughter to school there at the Children's Center.

Ratings_icons Questionable ethics and procedures

This school seems nice, small and nurturing from the outside when you take a tour. The director however is all about making money and not helping kids. We were excited when we found this preschool and put our son on the waiting list. We started when he was three and he did have some issues with pushing the other kids and aggressive behaviors. I understand that this preschool may not have been able to address his needs and he is now in a school that can. Instead of telling us this in a sensitive manner the director just wrote a letter and sent the letter home with my son's bag that he had been dismissed. We were never offered a meeting or allowed to spend the day with him at school to see what was going on. We were just kicked out in a very rude manner. The letter just told us that he was a bad boy. It was a very hard time for our family. Ultimately, I am thankful for being kicked out because his new school is caring and diverse. He has learned so much and is making gains and how to control his feeling and actions. Like I said it's not that the school was not the right place for our son, it is how we were dismissed and treated tells me that this school does not care about kids or their familie. They care about money and servicing their snotty, yuppie clientile. If you want a preschool that actually cares about your child, then look else where. If you care about apperances and keeping up with the Jonses then school is perfect for you.
