I've been on the hunt for a new tanning spot near me in Palms. A google search for "tan near 90034" sent me to a listing for StarlightTanningDOTcom. The google maps link said the address was 9854 National blvd, right near my place so it seemed perfect. (Note: CitySearch also has it listed at that address). I went to their website and found a seemingly reasonable coupon ($20 unlimited month w/ the purchase of a lotion), and gave them a call. All the coupons on the website had expired on 1/15 so I wanted to be sure they'd still honor it. Adam, who answered the phone said they'd take it. On my way out the door I double check the website for the salon's address...I cant find it. Seriously, it is nowhere on their official site. The only link they have is for "map/directions", which DOESNT LIST THE ACTUAL ADDRESS. I use GPS and needed a physical address. So I hop back to the original link on google and take the address from there (the one on National). I get to the shopping center in question and there is no such salon. I call Adam again and he says he doesn't know anything about a location on National but to find them at Westwood & Olympic. I tell him there's no address on their website and this is frustrating, and he apologizes. At this point I really want to get my tan in so I make the trek to Olympic & Westwood. I get to O&W and cant find the place. Their sign doesnt light up, I dont have a physical address, and when I call Adam back he doesn't know which side of the intersection they are on (N,S,E,W??). He said he's not good with directions. I finally figure it out and have to park a few blocks away because there is a line out the door at Big Chill. Get to the salon and joke with Adam about what an ordeal it has been already, and I'm relieved to have made it. He gives me a quick tour and tells me the pricing on all the beds including upgrade prices for the package I wanted to get. The prices for the beds were pretty standard and the salon had a nice relaxing aesthetic. I was even ready to jump in the fancy $20 upgraded bed as a treat to myself. So we get back to the counter and he asks me what my price range is for the lotion. I tell him I'd like to spend about $25 and he laughs, saying none of their lotions are below $45. What!? I've been to several other salons in the area that have affordable options, and $45 is wayyyy too much. I even looked one of them up online and it retails for $25.99. $20 markup, really? Feeling deflated and scammed I left with no tan. I'd suggest they put basic info like their address on their website, update their google listing, inform their employees that they're located on the South East side of the intersection, and offer more affordable lotions. My experience here was not good.

Pros: clean, good upgrade options, relaxing aesthetic

Cons: wrong address listing, no parking, overpriced lotions

I use Starlight Tanning to even out my tan when I realize that my convertible has made it so my arms are a serious 5 shades darker then the rest of my body. Not good
