I work down the street from the Lincoln and have eaten here over a dozen times in the last year. I always have a good experience. The menu is superb and the presentation is very artistic. There is a "rat pack" feel to the place. There are some fun/weird/crazy chairs that we call coffin chairs. They are not comfortable to eat in (your elbows get restricted), but there are only at about 3-4 tables and the staff with switch them out if you ask (they do it all the time).

Even through this is a "steak house" I strongly recommend the chicken. Everything is very good, but the Chicken is my favorite.

There is also Valet parking, which is a must in this area of Santa Monica.

PROS: Chichen, Cool Decor, Valet Parking

I first tried Lincoln Steakhouse about a year and a half ago when it first opened. It was for a special occassion and it sounded like it could be a fun place. We reserved a table for two at 8pm and we didn't get seated until about 9:15pm and they sat us at the bar. The food wasn't bad but we vowed never to go back. I needed last minute reservations this past Saturday and the only place I could get them in the area was Lincoln. That should have been a warning. I figured they may have worked the kinks out but no. They sat us at a table with these goofy coffin-like chairs that are just so wrong for dining I can't even tell you. It made for some good jokes but not for comfortable eating. It was a cold night, made even colder by the always open front door that blew a draft towards us, so a few of us ordered the New England clam chowder. It was surprising when it was served lukewarm. We sent it back and it came back a little warmer. For an entree I had ordered a crusted tuna steak. They never asked me how I wanted it prepared but I guess they figured uncooked. While I like tuna rare this tasted like it had been prepared hours in advanced, taken out of the fridge, unwrapped and dropped on a plate. The kicker was when they brought out the smoked mac and cheese, which sounded great on paper, except that they should have called it "chilled mac & cheese". When we pointed out that the M&C was cold they brought it back and the manager returned practically jumping out of his shoes psyched that they had in fact heated it up. He actually ordered my friend JJ to try it just to make sure. JJ tried it and guess what - it was cold! After all of that they still managed to charge us $290 for dinner for 4. At least they comped us an after dinner drink - a cold one, of course. If you are looking for a coffin chair this place should be out of business soon because it sucks.

PROS: NONE
CONS: Bad Food, Bad Atmosphere, Bad
