We recently purchased an engagement ring through Harry Ritchie at Everett Mall, and every time we go in there I regret it. The ring is gorgeous and more poor fiance bought it there because he couldn't find it anywhere else, and he knew it was the one I wanted. The thing is that every time we've gone in there they are RUDE. The first time we went in after my boyfriend proposed, I asked about our insurance police because I was under the impression that the ring needed to be cleaned annual to stay within policy, but the paperwork that came with it said every 6 months. When I asked, the already ornery older woman told me it was in fact every four months, and when I asked why it differed from the paperwork, she told me (with a TON of attitude) that my fiance is expected to come in and buy me more jewelry every 4 months, and when he does that we are to get the ring looked at too. She didn't explain ANYTHING else, and I felt like we were reduced to wallets. We also asked about the certificate of authenticity that did not come with it, and was not explained to us either. Her response made us feel as if we were morons, and why would we ever ask something like that!?! So, while biting my tongue, for fear of putting this terrible, old gold-digger in her place I left my ring there to be resized.

Bad idea.

The ring was resized a full size, when it should have been only a half a size (we took it to another jeweler to confirm that was the case). Also, the enamel heart on the underside was ruined- it's globby, and not shiny or pretty at all- plus there was red enamel ALL over the band and we had to return to have that cleaned off. The crazy part is that they acted like I had done something to it. Even thought the period between picking it up and returning it consisted of walking out of the store and then right back in.

Also, I was under the impression that the rude woman we were talking to was the only rotten apple in the bunch, but boy was I wrong. The other woman there practically refused to give me my ring, because the account has my nickname on it, and my license has my legal name (plus when they gave me the form that they track cleanings with, I was specifically told I needed to bring it in when I drop off the ring, so they could mark it off, not when I came to pick it up). The stupid thing is the address on my license is the same as the account, as is my last name, and I've seen that woman each time we went in there. Plus, when I told her that my nickname was a common nickname for my legal name she practically called me a liar, and her attitude because defensive, and rude.

Anyway, my point is, if you find a ring you like at Harry Ritchie, at everett mall, try to find it somewhere else. These people will treat you terribly, no matter how much money you do or don't spend there. They are just place awful customer service.
