I went to buy an engagement ring. I had some money. I was a customer. The first guy who helped me was Mike. It was his first day and he was a little nervous but very helpful, personable and most importantly, I felt like I could trust him. That was when old-timer hard-ass J.C. stepped in to show Mike how it was done. This guy was rude, condescending and confrontational. Maybe he sensed I was a bottom line guy or something, but he kept acting like everything I said was a trick or a ploy and he had to battle me. I left the store thinking 'maybe it was just me'. I went back the next day and let me say, the problem was not "me". After being affronted and probably discriminated against because of my t-shirt and jeans, I walked out of the store leaving behind the $5000 ring I was sold on. I went to a competitor (which I won't name) on a cross street a few streets down and had the exact opposite experience. I bit my tongue but finally found myself telling the story to them only to hear "Oh yeah, we get a lot of their 'customers'".J.C. was bragging about how great they were because you get the best price since the sales team makes no commission. Well here is some advice to the management: pay your sales team a commission. Maybe if JC was making a percent from my sale (or gave a crap about people in general) made his store a sale And a happy customer (and some good word of mouth advertising as I would have been happy to post a glowing review had things been different. A lot different.)At least there is a happy ending in that I found a great business to support right down the street and turned what should be an uplifting, once in a lifetime experience back into just that.If you do go here, ask for Mike.
