If you eat steak, get the kona crusted filet. One of the best I've had. A lively fun place, friendly service, classy. I happened to dine with a great group which definitely enhances the experience.

PROS: Good atmosphere, great steaks, wine selection
CONS: A bit loud so perfect for groups not dates.

The wait staff lures me back but the manger was irrelevant, pretentious and showy. I hope to see a more relevant and sincere management team here.

Traditional American Steak House offering aged cuts of beef, seafood dishes and gourmet sides. The decor is steril and lack of beauty or distinction. This place went from great to good and now it is average at best . Capital Grille is no longer in the same class as DelFrisco or Sullivant. The capital grille of Denver has NO flash and very little substance

On a positive note: With the opening of Ocean Prime, there will be MORE empty tables.

There are much better options in Denver.

To dine or NOT to dine? it's an easy question to answer here.

Pros: No waiting at the capital grille since there are always emty tables
Cons:Little substance

I've always had really good food and service here. They've got a cool bar and a great wine menu. I'm a big fan of Larimer Square in general, so I'm glad they're located there. This is a good place for dinner and then you can bar hop afterward.

Ive been to the Capital Grille for special occasions, business lunches or for a nice cocktail on a week/weekend night. The ambiance is classy but not stuffy and Ive always been treated very well there. My steak of choice would be the Delmonico, a 22oz marinated ribeye with plenty to take home. The lobster bisque is delicious and I cant say enough about the lobster macaroni and cheese or the coconut cream pie. \r
\r
They are also known for their stoli doli martinis, pineapple thats been soaked in vodka then shaken with ice and poured into a chilled martini glass. \r

I have had rude treatment here and FABULOUS treatment here. It depends on how much you want to spend (in this economy) for the gamble. Maybe the economy wil have them working at being considerate to ALL patrons on a regular basis. WHAT A CONCEPT !

Cons: Service and treatment of customers - inconsistent

I have been to this restaurant several times. Of the times that I have been there, one person had to send their steak back 3 times because is was so horribly undercooked, one person got salmon that honestly tasted worse than any other I have tried and they messed up my salad order....A Salad! There are plenty of steakhouses downtown and this one is the worst, and most expensive. The only good thing about my meal last time, is that someone else paid the bill.

I love the Capital Grille brand; many great steaks were eaten there at the Boston store. The Denver Capital Grille used to be a a great restaurant when it first opened. The key phrase is used to be................... the steak was cold. Cold! The dining room is so loud you cannot hear the person next to you; perhaps this is why our waiter got our order wrong twice! The whole experience was made worse by all the drunk patrons. \r
If I am going to pay this kind of money for a steak i expect top service, WARM FOOD OR EVEN HOT and patrons to be civil. The prices are the same but Capital is not in the same ball park as Sullivan's or Delfriscoes or even Ruth's. Again, at those places at least your food is warm and at least not every customer is drunk as a skunk.\r
Avoid this restaurant until corporate gets some new management; the one in Providence and in Boston is SUPERIOR to this immitator. Is anyone in Corporate paying attention?

I have to admit that I have only been to the DC location. There, the food and service were excellent. My wife had a less-than-stellar experience at the Denver location a few weeks ago. She complained to the management and was immediately given a gift certificate. This restaurant has already shown us they care about their customers. We?ll be back soon.

My husband and I went to Capital Grille for our anniversary and it was a great experience. Every staff member we talked to wished us a happy anniversary. We requested a booth when making the reservation and not only did they give us a booth, they covered the table with rose petals and gave us an anniversary card! The service was phenominal and the food was excellent. To top it all off, we were given THREE complementary desserts as an anniversary gift! They gave us a huge platter with three of their best desserts and didn't charge us at all for them. There were even candles on each of the desserts. They definately went above and beyond our expectations and helped make our anniversary memorable.

we went recently to celebrate a birthday and were completely underwhelmed. citysearch needs to update their reviews.several years ago my review would have been different. it seems that alot has changed at the capital grille. the food was cold, the service was slow and inattentive and overall our experience sub par. the dining room was very loud and there seemed to be a lot of very drunk patrons there. i don't mind paying for a really great dining experience but this one was dismal and way overpriced.

My wife and daughter and I were in town and went to the Capital Grille despite some of the negative reviews on this site. From the minute we walked in we were greeted warmly and treated by the staff as if they cared about us despite knowing that we would probably never be back. Our server, Michelle, gave us excellent recommendations for both our steaks and our wine (a superb Syrah) and we were so pleased with them. The service was just right... not too fast to be pushy but not so slow we forgot what we ordered. Michelle was back numerous times to make sure we were happy and our wine was poured. She asked us about our family and seemed genuinely interested. As for the food, I had the Porcini Rubbed Delmonico with 8-Year Aged Balsamic (so unique and full in it?s taste), my wife had the Sliced Filet Mignon with Cipollini Onions and Wild Mushrooms (absolutely able-to-cut-with-a-fork tender), and my daughter the Kona Crusted Dry Aged Sirloin with Caramelized Shallot Butter (from the sample she gave me even better than my steak.) My ?Wedge? lettuce salad with Bleu Cheese and Crumbled Bacon was fresh as if it came from the garden and the dressing was so delicious I ate every dribble. The entire night was beyond our expectations. Comparing it to another famous steakhouse we had gone to our first night in town revealed the Capital to be the winner in all categories. Expensive... yes, but well worth it. It will be an experience we will remember for quite awhile and, if ever again in Denver, we will certainly be back.

Cons: Price, A Little Crowded

At one time, Capital Grille was a great place to go for a special occasion. Unfortunately, our most recent visit will be our last visit. Food was subpar, service was pretentious, and the overall experience was a huge disappointment. For a restaurant to command such high prices, they should be ready to deliver impeccable food and service, not just rely on their reputation.

I have never the steaks at the upscale steak houses were any better than you could make on your grill. You hear me Ruth?s Chris, adding butter doesn't make your steak that much better. But the Capital Grille charged my mind. The steak was cooked to perfection (assuming you know what medium rare really looks like) and so very tender. Likewise our steak tartare appetizer was just as favorable, well seasoned yet not so much as to hide the true flavor of the beef.\r
\r
In addition to the terrific steaks, the service is the best I have ever encountered. No attitude from the staff-just smiles and an ""aim to please"" attitude. When you make reservations, they will ask you if it is a special occasion. If so, your table will be decorated accordingly. In addition to a hand written anniversary card at the table when we arrived, our waiter sent us a thank you card a few days latter. This was also hand written and even made a joke relating to our conversation that evening. I have nothing bad to say-although it is pricy, but well worth it.

We had a family dinner at this restaurant and were impressed by the staff and their willingness to go above and beyond to make our evening un-forgettable. When we realized we forgot a camera, one of the stuff members ran out to get us a disposable camera. Our food was superb.

I have now eaten here a few times and the food has been amazing. The service has been a little up and down but still pretty good even when it was not so good. Everything was explained well and all the food came as it was supposed to be prepared. We have always made reservations and have been promptly seated which is a plus. I would recommend this place to anyone as a definite destination for a top quality steak in the Denver area.

We have lived in Denver for a year and have read about the Capital Grille and their aged steaks. We had some friends in from Tucson and they wanted a greak steak before the Avalanche game. We were greeted promptly by a friendly hostess, seated immediately as there were only two patrons in the entire restaurant and they were sitting at the bar. Cutting to the chase, the service was poor, the steaks were not cooked to our specifications and were sent back to be re-cooked. Once they were brought back the second time....they were dry and could not be eaten. Did I mention we were there forever......and a day? Our friends left disappointed and hungry. Thank goodness for the many options for food at the Av's game.

I went with my mother-in-law for lunch and we were treated like royalty. They changed our table linens from white to black (as I was wearing a black outfit). Service was prefessional, attentive and prompt. The food was amazing and well worth the price tag (lunch for 2 with soups and dessert was $120). Will definitely return again and again.

This is by far the best restaurant I've ever been too, across the country. Friendly, motivated staff combined with exceptional service and complimentary valet make this a sure thing when I want to entertain visitors to Denver. This restaurant thinks of everything, from bringing your car up as you are finishing desert to even placing your leftovers in the back seat for you so you don't forget them. Excellent food is experiences by my entire party each time I've visited (5 thus far). The staff is wonderful as they happily cater to your every request and provide complementary dessert should you be celebrating any occasion!

I went there last night to cleberate my anniversary with my boyfriend. We were really disapointed. The service was great...in fact if it wasn't for the service we would have been completely and totally disapointed. I ordered a filet and specified medium to medium well...Anyone that knows filets knows that if you're going to cook it a little more butterflying is the best bet..the outside was really good but the middle looked almost rare and I was gagging on my steak...for 40 dollars I don't want to be gagging. My BF ordered the Kona sirloin also medium and he's came out rare-med rare he sent his back and the outside was fine but the middle was still a little to rare. After complaining once we didn't want to complain again so we just got boxes so we can grill it a little bit more. The Chocolate hazelnut cake was great though. The service was great, the food not so much.

Comme Ci Comme Ca, just so-so. If you want to have a drink at a nice bar then I highly recommend. Or if you just want to go to a place that has great service and a beautiful setting then go here. Good drinks, excellent service, and a beautiful setting is all the Capital Grille has to offer.
If you know what good food is and that is what you want, then do not go here. It probably does well in Colorado because no one here knows what good food is. The food is below average. There is a huge wine selection and smoking is allowed, but the food is awful, especially for the price.

Best steak in Denver- hands down. I went there with my family and everyone ordered something different. I ordered the filet with a Kona Coffee dry rub. Everyone at our table commented that my steak was the best steak they ever had. It was cooked to perfection and each entree at our table was fantastic. The chive seared salmon was delicious, as were the side items and the salads.

The service was fantastic and even when my husband went there for his bachelor party, he had the same exemplary service.

This is the perfect place to take a steak lover.

Amazing! The waiter actually went over every item on the menu individually explained all of the details, recommendations, and even compared and contrasted the dishes.
I got the raspberry infused filet (tasty & unique) and my girlfriend ordered the porcini delmonico. Both were ordered medium rare and were cooked flawlessly. Both steaks were massive and were priced comparable if not even a little lower than other nice steakhouses in the area. While my filet was wonderful, the porcini delmonico was quite possibly the best steak either of us have ever had, period!
Side dishes were also very solid and we found the grille's take on our favorites (spinach and au gratin potatoes) were also flawless.
What's really nice is that the restaurant is divided into several rooms so that noise is kept reasonable. The decor is nice and the atmosphere is probably the most romantic I've seen in Denver.

I went there for the first for my birthday a few weeks ago and boy was it a treat. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgable about the food and made outstanding recommendations for all 3 of us. The atmosphere was also very laid back and provided a nice relaxing mood. Oh yeah, and did I mention the food? Our steaks were cooked to perfection and my mother who is a vegetarian loved her tuna as well. Definitely a great place for friends and couples--check it out!

It's easy to see why the power-lunch steak crowd likes the Capital Grill. The decor is inviting and service is top-notch. The menu offers pretty straight forward steak & seafood items. All are well prepared and flavorful, but no avante-garde cuisine here. The split pea soup is excellent, the special ""stew"" of the day (a sirloin, mushroom & onion dish in a rich brandy cream sauce) was very good, but very rich. The wine list is extensive but features very few options under $30. Lunch for 6 came to $350. In summary, this is a good steak house but come prepared shell out a little more than you might expect.

Yeah, there's quite a few steakhouses in and around Denver, but seriously, they're no competition. The Capital Grille dry-ages their steak in house, which no other high-end steakhouse in Denver does, and they have an amazingly huge wine list, proving their committment to quality. The service is always one step ahead, and so personable. They use your name, they remember your name, and they treat you as a friend rather than just another customer. And the bar scene, on a friday or saturday night, it's the best place to be to mingle with some of Denver's finest. And don't forget to try a Stoli Doli, their signature martini (pineapple infused vodka). They're to die for! Overall, The Capital Grille is simply uncomparable!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here. The steaks will leave you speechless! Superb! Juicy and flavorful, not to mention the au gratin potatoes which on their own should win some national contest! The service was wonderful and not too intrusive. We had the Steak Au Poivre with Courvosier cream sauce and
the dry aged sliced steak with garlic butter. All of the dishes sound delicious however. I would definitely go back again. It is pricey, but unquestionably worth it. Make reservations and you will get complimentary valet! Best of all, it is not a snooty place like some steakhouses are.

OK so this is the best Steak House in Denver. I am a frequent visitor and recommend it unreservedly. Food is excellent. Ambience is perfect. Wine list is outstanding. And I will go back any evening! The only complaint I have is with the intrusive service. Some of these waiters may as well just pull up a chair and join you! Perhaps its just over exuberance, but after a while, you think we can perhaps learn something from the French.

Being from North Carolina, you look for familiars. This is the restaurant (although the NC version) that is amazing in Charlotte, and in the movie Shallow Hal. It is truly a phenomenal experience. My only warning-the side items are a la carte, but ENORMOUS! Make sure you're hungry!
