Disaster on all levels, although not apparent on the first try. I submitted one Delvaux bag, one Ferragamo bag and one brand new Hermes scarf for consignment. After appx one year, the Ferragamo bag sold. My take was $50. It took 3 months

As a personal stylist, I am always looking for hot places to shop around town. I stumbled across this beautiful boutique, intrigued by the outstanding window displays they always have. I could not have even imagined what I came across when I walked inside. It was pure heaven. They had beautiful pieces from every era from the 20's to current trends; gowns, cocktail dresses, seperates, shoes and handbags. The sales girls were so happy to help, answered all my questions, and took the time to show me some special pieces. I found some incredible Christian Louboutin shoes from last season in great condition for an amazingly low price. I will be recommending ALL of my clients come shop here, and I will definately be returning. One of the best places all around I have come across.

A beautiful addition to my memories for my wedding. I had been on the haunt for the perfect vintage wedding gown for almost a year now and a friend suggested I try 'The Princess'....she had seen gorgeous bridal gowns in their windows when she drives to work everyday...so I called ahead and set an appointment to view their collection.

They have the collection safely tucked away behind a pink velvet rope, how cute!!! This is my kind of place! The girls there were so helpful taking me through the entire collection piece by piece because I really did not know what I wanted. It is a little difficult with vintage wedding gowns because they only have ONE of each gowns and they don't come in other sizes, so it's tough if you fall in love with a gown and it is too small, which is what happened to me.

But, and this is an amazing but, Elizabeth Mason the owner has her own contemporary design collect collection where she can create almost anything that your heart desires, inspired by, or to replicate her vintage collection. I had my heart set on an incredibly sexy 1970s Norma Kamali wedding gown when the salesgirl Jill showed me a stunning white silk gown Elizabeth had designed for the actress Ayelet Zurer for her premiere of her movie Angels and Demons...WOW !

I never thought I would look so .....well....sexy! I felt like the most gorgeous bride in that gown. I could not buy Aylete's actual dress but Elizabeth measured me from head to toe and they made me my very own Red Carpet Stunner just like it.

My wedding is not until next Summer, but I wanted to have everything all settled well in advance. The only problem is I am dying to wear my beautiful gown now ! UGH!!! We are planning on altering it into a cocktail length dress after my wedding so I can wear it again and again. Honestly, I never would have imagined a place like this existed, where my prettiest fashion fantasy could come true. The best part really is the fact that it is also truly a one stop vintage shop, with everything I needed from a great pair of silver Manolos and a lovely off-white French hand-beaded little clutch from the 50s.

I had a great time, brought a pile of my girlfriends in for my final fitting with Elizabeth and will remember the experience forever as a really big part of my wedding memories. It sure beat the heck out of hitting one of those cookie-cutter bridal stores.

I had sort of hoped I would wear a vintage wedding gown, but having one inspired by the 1950s that is all my own is just fine by me. We may even try to put all my bridesmaids in complimenting vintage dresses.

I guess the only downside is that the shop is a little more expensive than most vintage places, but considering the service and the designer vintage I would be hard pressed to get better value in a regular retail store where almost everything these days is manufactured in China. My gown was hand-made just for me in America!

Elizabeth M. Mason,

The Paper Bag Princess

Elizabeth Mason traveled the globe in the late 1980s as a young model, actress, writer, and theatrical producer. Originally from Toronto, Mason now calls Los Angeles her home. While spending many years traveling the world working as a model and actress, she devoted her leisure time pursuing her passion for collecting vintage clothing and in the spring of 1995 opened her first vintage couture boutique, The Paper Bag Princess in West Hollywood, California. This unique Mecca for vintage designer fashion celebrated a client list of Hollywoodâ??s whoâ??s who, international fashion designers, and fashionestas worldwide, from Julia Roberts to Donatella Versace.

Later that same summer Mason release her first book, The Rag Street Journal a comprehensive guide to the best non-profit thrift shops throughout North America, published by Henry Holt, New York. The Rag Street Journal received tremendous attention from the vintage and fashion worlds alike, and Mason was featured on the Ophra Winfrey Show, as well as numerous other national style network programs. She followed the success of her first book with Valuable Vintage, The Insiders Guide to Pricing and Collecting Important Vintage Fashions, Random House, New York 2002.

That same year in 2002, Mason opened her second boutique in her hometown of Toronto, and after ten tremendously successful years in West Hollywood, she moved her flagship boutique the spring of 2005 to a beautiful new location in Beverly Hills followed by a launch of her own womanâ??s contemporary, evening wear collection, Elizabeth Mason Couture.

Masonâ??s decision to launch her own couture collection came to her heart after years of working with many of the worldâ??s top fashion designers who had come to rely on her discerning eye season after season, for unique design inspiration from her vast vintage collections. The collection was grounded in her clientâ??s demands as they requested she create something special for them in their size, but with the glamorous and sexy flair synonymous with her important vintage couture collection.

It is no secret that Mason finds her design inspirations in the gorgeous vintage gowns that she chooses for her numerous celebrity luminaries to wear for their red carpet appearances, as well as from her personal vast archives of significant vintage couture from the late 1930s through the early 1970s.

On October 14th, 2009 Mason launched her couture collection, as well as an exclusive Vintage Couture department in the prestigious designer salon at THE ROOM at The BAY in Toronto, Canada.

Mason is also a certified appraiser, and is considered to be one the world most knowledgeable authorities in vintage and contemporary clothing, antique textiles and accoutrements and works extensively as an expert witness at trial. She lectures frequently on the subject of vintage fashion at NYU and UCLA, as well as various other fashion organizations and womenâ??s entrepreneurial group across North America, and has appeared on the Todayâ??s Show with Katie Curic to discuss vintage fashions at the 2006 Oscar Awards, as well as a special on vintage clothing collecting with Jane Pauly. She is presently hosts an exciting new podcast site, WWW.Amusebouches.com where she investigates and reviews all the latest trends and happening in the vintage couture industry worldwide.
