With a humble storefront and very little showroom, Veloshop isn't much of a spot to window shop. Their stock is minimal, but they're eager to place custom orders for parts and they seem to call promptly when orders come in. They seem very labor oriented, just walking into the shop I saw them working on three or four different bikes in stands. Though they specialize in cyclocross, they appeared knowledgeable about mountain bikes, road bikes, and commuter bikes as well. Their prices were about the same as other shops I've been to and service was prompt. I would go back again for bike repair or a tune up when needed.

This downtown bike shop IS intimidating, and worse than that it is downright unwelcoming to anyone who doesn't look and smell like a racer or messenger. The vibe is definitely an "insider" thing, and I shouldn't have to pave my own way with cookie or beer just to feel more welcome. Bikes with upright handlebars and fenders (and their older, heavier riders) can get better, friendlier service elsewhere in town.

The people who work at this trendy little store next to Jackpot Records can come off as snobby and intimidating. Some people bake them cookies just to take the edge off of going in. But don't stay away - they are all beasts on their bikes and really know their stuff. If you are interested in upgrading, customization, or generally knowing more about your bike, this is a terrific place to go.
