This listing should be removed or shifted to what can be a burgeoning category of restaurants-gone-belly-up. This location has since seen yet another restaurant come and go under and currently houses Belly Timber. Haven't tried it yet, but I'll post a review once I have.

Calendula is located in an old Victorian house. I was pleasantly suprised that on a hot summer day, the climate was very comfortable inside.

While the menu is small and distinctively catering to the vegetarian palate, it is well prepared. I had the tofu stuffed crepe, which was delightful and pleasing to the mouth. My friends also enjoyed their various dishes along with grape leaves stuffed with marinated brown rice and a warm weather offering of daikon strips in a pesto sauce.

Unfortunately, they just are not equipped to handle large groups. The kitchen lost the orders of an 8 party table and then served their orders backwards, with main dishes, then appetizers.

Would I go back? Definitely. Fair priced and well made food. I wouldn't take a large group though. Even forewarned, they just were not able to handle the extra load on their kitchen.

PROS: Good alternative food
CONS: Not equipped to handle groups.

Something to do if you haven't yet had the pleasure is at Calendula. Try a vegan desert, something similar to a tofu raspberry cheesecake, organic port, with Cafe Mam. Invite someone to impress or do it alone and see if you don't want to do it again.
