Moon Valley Nurseries Guarantee?

by Martin G.

About a month ago I bought a tree (silver dollar gum tree) at Moon Nursery in the Northwest off 95. I had bought a couple of trees from them in the past and never had any problems with them but this one is dying. I went back to the nursery and explained the tree did well for the first 2 weeks, then the leaves started drying up and the plant is in the process of dying. I mentioned to them that I put starter fertilizer and shock treatment in the soil and mulched around the tree when I planted it. They said it probably went into shock and wait for a while. I asked them, if the tree dies can I bring it back and get another as a replacement and under their guarantee. I was informed they only guarantee plants they plant. This was a small 15 gallon tree. I was surprised at this due to the amount time between when I bought and planted it and when it started to lose it's leaves and seemingly is dying. They did say they would give me a $20 rebate on the $40 tree. I have bought plants from Home Depot, Lowes and Star Nursery in the past and in the few instances they wouldn't take I brought them back and they either replaced them or gave me a full refund for them. It is not the money as much as the idea they are not willing to abide what I consider a standard practice of other stores and nurseries to take back plants that aren't making it for a free replacement or a full refund due to the short amount of time it's in the ground. I have mentioned this to some of my neighbors and friends and they are in agreement that Moon's policy doesn't sound right. Especially in these times, I would think good will is a commodity they would be clamoring for. I guess they aren't interested in appeasing the one or two plant persons. Not sure if you want this info but I feel the public has a right to know all the facts when they buy plants at Moon.

unfortunately there isnt a rating that would express the terrible service and unprofessionalism of your business. i happen to be a landscaper and the kind on business ethics your business practices in should be illegal. countless times i have had to be hired to correct the damage your business has left behind. this is my second time contacting you about how dissatisfied as well as dissappointment i am with your business. the first complaint of course was never resolved which doesnt surprise me at all. i have started a journal of all experiences i have been through with your nursery and it is full of countless customer complaints as well as my own. i can not understand how you keep a business license. if you think that you can keep up your horible business practices think again. i am posting an add seeking dissappointed
consumers so that i can one day put an end to the type of business
you are providing to our community either with a direct lawsuit or protest against your company. due to your lack of regard to privious complaints i have also started my own personal boycott with each and every customer, furthermore i will be notifying the community with as many forms of public awareness that i possibly can of all of the headaches caused by doing business with your company. you may contact me if you have concerns. greg 702-292-9448

Great knowledge and prices

by Michelee C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,800

I was on a very tight budget when landscaping my backyard when I received a flyer that advertised 3 tress $299 planted and guaranteed. So when I went to check this place out I told them what kind of tree I was looking for they had some to fit my lifestyle! This is a huge outdoor nursery so they drive you around in golf carts and if you don't want to ride (I didn't because I has an infant) they are fine with walking you around. In the end I left with 3 trees, a bag of mulch, and some wooden steaks all for $150, not guaranteed and planted but that was cheaper then Wal-Mart! The cashier even offered me some cookies his mother baked! Tip: if your salesperson is not well informed check out another one, some guys were training when I went there.

PROS: Huge selection
CONS: some salesmen are not very knowledgeable

TOO FAR OUT OF TOWN/ TREES AND PLANTS THAT ARE DESERT FRIENDLY

by CINDY R. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 426

COMPARED TO THE OTHER NURSERIES AROUND THE LAS VEGAS AREA WE THOUGHT THAT THE MOON NURSEY WAY OUT ON N. RANCHO WAS LACKING IN TREE & PLANT SELECTIONS..ALTHOUGH THEY DO HAVE ALL OF THE TREE & PLANTS THAT ARE CONDUSIVE TO THE HOT DESERT CLIMATE WE JUST DID NOT FIND EVERYTHING THAT WE WERE ABLE TO FIND AT PLANT WORLD. PLUS WE FOUND THE GROWN PALM TREES TO BE PRICED MUCH HIGHER THAN OTHER NURSERIES. INFACT WE WERE LOOKING TO BUY "STARTER TREES" BUT THEY WERE PRICED SO HIGH THAT WE LEFT WITHOUT BUYING ANYTHING. I WILL SAY, HOWEVER, THAT THE SALESMAN THAT WALKED AROUND THE GROUNDS W/ US WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL & HE ANSWERED ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS. HE WAS VERY POLITE WHEN SAYING GOODBY, EVEN THOUGH WE DID NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM HIM. WE DID, HOWEVER DRIVE RIGHT TO THEIR COMPETITORS AND BOUGHT 3 TREES AND NUMEROUS PLANTS,SOIL AND FERTILIZERS,PLANT HANGERS, ETC. BECAUSE WE SAVED SO MUCH MONEY BY NOT SHOPPING AT MOON VALLEY. IF THEY WOULD LOWER THEIR PRICES A BIT I THINK THAT THEY COULD DO A BETTER BUSINESS. WE ASK IF WE COULD GET A SMALL DISCOUNT IF WE BOUGHT ALOT OF THINGS AND WE WERE TOLD NO..WE WERE GIVEN A SMALL DISCOUNT AT THE NEXT PLACE THAT WE WENT..WE SPENT OVER $600..BUT AT MOON VALLEY WE WOULD HAVE SPENT AROUND $850.

PROS: GOOD SELECTIONS OF DESERT PLANTS & TREES.VERY NICE SALESMAN
CONS: WAY TOO EXPENSIVE..TOO FAR OUT OF TOWN

It's like a jungle out there!

by Joanee A. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,367

This is a fairly new nursery to the area, and it is great to have a new "player" in town. They have a huge selection of plants, especially larger palms and trees, very helpful staff and competitive prices. Currently they are advertising with KSHP (AM1400 - the radio shopping channel). I was able to get a certificate for $50 worth of retail shopping for $15. That deal varies depending on when you buy from KSHP - but it's a good way to give the nursery a try.
