I was impressed with this florist's web site and found the exact arrangement that I wanted to order for a grand opening of a friend's business. I called the florist since it was late in the day and I was afraid they would not be able to deliver the arrangement that same day. They said that they could deliver the arrangement within the hour. My friend loved the flowers and sent me a photo of the arrangement. It was just as I ordered. I have since ordered several other arrangements from Gifford's and been very pleased. I would Highly Recommend Gifford's for their breath of designs and exceptional service. .
Pros: Great web site and service!

Their selection of flowers go way beyond the familiar selection found at other florists. I also like how they support local growers. Every morning on my way to work I see the people at Gifford's buying flowers from people who pull up to the shop with their pick-up trucks full of fresh cut flowers. I've never been disappointed with any of the flowers I bought there or arrangements I've sent.
Pros: Amazing selection of flowers

I needed to order birthday flowers for my girlfriend from out-of-state. After searching around a few websites, I stumbled upon Gifford's, and I liked the different look of their bouquets.
Not sure of exactly what I wanted, I called the 800 number, and the first person I reached was very knowledgeable about their various designs. She listened to what I was trying to do and was able to suggest a design for me. She also helped to customize the flower colors and gave me ideas about presentation.
The flowers were delivered to my girlfriend's office early in the workday and completely wowed her. The non-standard red-black roses, leaf-wrapped bouquet, and unusual vase made the flowers stand out, and made her very happy.
I am definitely going to use them again.
Pros: Helpful suggestive staff, beautiful selections.

I read a not -so-positive review using Gifford's Flowers for wedding flowers. I had the opposite experience planning my wedding. Laura was a pleasure to work with.... She was knowledgeable and was up-to-date on the latest wedding trends. They seemed very busy... but I always felt my wedding was a priority. My wedding flowers exceeded all my expectations... thanks to Laura and Gifford's.
Pros: Exceeded my expectations!
Cons: They are very busy!

I had been talking with Laura a few times through e-mail about my ideas on flowers. It thought she was very helpful, so I was really excited for my actual appointment. When I came to the appointment, Laura didn't have any examples of her work to show me and she wasn't helpful at all! At the end of the appointment she had jotted notes down on a notepad, and said she would look over it and give me an estimate in a few days. IT HAS BEEN OVER A MONTH AND I STILL HAVEN'T HEARD FROM HER! Needless to say, I didn't get my flowers from them. If I were you, I wouldn't either!
Pros: none
Cons: Poor service and communication

Was in Kansas and ordered an arrangement through FTD to be sent to my husband in Portland for our anniversary. I requested a wildflower arrangement and was charged $68. The arrangement my husband received consisted of 2 sunflowers, a couple small yellow flowers and a few long purple flowers. I was very embarrased when he showed me what he received. His comment was... "I hope you didn't pay much for this." When Giffords was contacted, they said the arrangement was sufficient for what was requested and there would be no compensation. I would NEVER recommend this florist!!
Pros: ???
Cons: Customer service; quality; price

I walked into this classic looking florist, adequately hidden beneath a group of shady trees. Inside, I was greeted by two very friendly associates, one of whom helped me find exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for a ?Hawaiian? looking flower that I could wear in my hair.
Not only was I shown their beautiful and high quality array of fresh Hawaiian flowers, but the gal that helped me even helped me choose the perfect flower bulb to wear in my hair. Then, she took it upon herself to take my flower to the back and wire-wrap accordingly so that it could be pinned in my hair. While she was doing this, the other gal who worked there gave me a little tour of the store and showed me what flowers were in season! Then they sprayed my flower, wrapped it in a cute little box, and told me how to care for it so that I could wear it the next day.
Not bad for only $5!!! :]]
Pros: Quality of the flowers, Knowledge/Friendliness of the store associates
Cons: Hmm... Can't think of any right now!

I got my wedding flowers at Gifford's, and I couldn't have been happier with the service. I didn't really have a specific preference for colors or varieties, but Laura came up with something beautiful that I loved. It was very tropical looking, which fit nicely with the theme of my wedding. The delivery came on time, everything was fresh, I was delighted with the whole shebang. The price was pretty reasonable, too.
Pros: Friendly people, freshest flowers around
Cons: Can get busy

Gifford's really took care of my order. Bill made sure that my order was not only beautiful but took extra steps to ensure that the delivery was flawless. I had suggested that they could leave the bouquet on the doorstep. He wrote back immediately saying it was too hot for that and that they would make sure to arrange the delivery for the same time the recipient was home. He was GREAT! THANK YOU!

I high recommend Gifford's. The people are friendly, it has a great selection of flowers and the prices are great. I just moved here from Chicago and enjoy walking by the shop on Broadway everyday and seeing all the flowers. I have ordered off their web site several times and have been thrilled by the flowers and service. Portland is a great city and Gifford's is definately a plus.
Pros: Convient, selection, service
Cons: Can be very busy and crowded at times

I was searching for a wedding florist, so I came in for a consultation, and did not like the way they did business. Instead of giving me an estimate right there, they spent only 15 minutes on the consultation and told me that they would figure out the cost and email it to me later... well, it has been a week now and I still have not received an estimate. I would've preferred to know right away. This shows unprofessionalism to me because other florists do not do that. I didn't get the feeling that they wanted my business because it was a quick consultation and they didn't really try to find out what I liked. Needless to say, first impression was not great and I won't go to this florist for my wedding flowers.
Pros: Convenient location
Cons: Service, everything

Everytime I enter Gifford's I am amazed by their selection of flowers. Also the girls that work there are friendly and helpful and the arrangements surpass anything I've seen out there. My favorite florist !
Pros: Amazing flower selection
Cons: none

I called today to order a balloon bouquet for a child at Doernbecher's. Gina was kind, helpful, and responsive. Great customer service!

For Valentine's Day my ex (you'll see why)-boyfriend ordered me some last-minute, 1-800-flowers bouquet which arrived the day AFTER Valentine's Day at 6pm, stapled into some kind of industrial cardboard box. Thoughtless gift (a nice note would have been far better) and horrible flowers--sent from Minnesota, though they were ordered in Portland. Sigh. Out with the old! Last week I received an amazing, breathtaking bouquet sent by a new beau who lives in Seattle. Amazingly multi-colored tulips of varying sizes--some HUGE--and one single, perfectly exquisite red rose, in a very thick, squared off and utterly tasteful vase. All were beautiful then, and still amazing a week later. Coworkers seemed driven into my office to admire them and smell them. I have never really been a "buy me flowers" type of woman, but I guess I just never had flowers like these sent to me. They made my week, day after day...I guess that's the point! Bringing them home, people could not stop commenting on the tastefulness and beauty of the bouquet. Sounds like some people have had some bad experiences with Gifford's; certainly indifferent or rude service shouldn't be tolerated; I'd be really put off if I had nic's experience. All I know is when those flowers came in, I fell in love a little.

I send flowers for valentines day every year - for the past 9 years I have used FTD but this year I decided to go with a local flower shop and chose Giffords based on recommendations on this site. I called the top three recommended flower stores in Portland to see which ones could provide the color roses I wanted- Giffords assured me they could. I actually talked to someone at Giffords three times - once to inquire about the roses available, once to make my order, and then again to add to another item to my order. All three times I was quoted different prices for the roses. Although I was assured that they could provide the color roses I wanted, I gave a backup. Unfortunately, neither the roses I selected or the backup was delivered - pink roses were sent instead. The flowers were also left on the porch early in the morning (it was raining) - and the person who received them didn't know they had received flowers until they went outside. I realize that Valentines day is one of the busiest times of the year for florists - but I have to say that I was very dissapointed and will switch back to FTD for my flower orders.
Pros: Delivered on correct day
Cons: Not the arrangement I ordered, pricing not clear, left on porch

Gifford's Flowers always seems to cater to me. I'm not a rich man but my wife loves flowers. Whenever I call they are willing to work with my price range and even suggest beautiful arragements for under the amount I suggest. Their deliveries are always on time and the flowers always last a long time. No matter what you order or the price you pay you always get your money's worth at Gifford's Flowers.
Pros: beautiful displays, arrangements and kind service.

I called to have flowers sent to my daughters work for her birthday, I told them what I wanted to spend and they made up a beautiful bouquet and delivered it that afternoon. My daughter loved the flowers. I will definitely use them again.
Pros: Same Day Delivery
Cons: None

I am lucky to have Gifford's as my neighborhood flower shop. I have never been dissappointed with their selection. Their customer service is exceptional. Their staff knows how to put together an arrangement with thought, care and style!
The only time I would go elsewhere is during the farmer's market where the flowers are plentiful and a little cheaper, but if I need something arranged or tropical feel, Gifford's will always be the place no matter the season.

Our company was having an awards banquet. Somehow flowers were never ordered. We called Gifford's Flowers several hours before the banquet and asked if there was any way they could make and deliver two large arrangements and a dozen centerpieces to the Mariott Hotel by 6:30 pm. Not only were the flowers delivered in time but the arrangements were exactly what we had wanted.
Pros: professional, excellent service

I've always been passionate about flowers. I moved to Portland this past year and started to search out place to buy flowers. I tried several other shops before a friend recommended Gifford's Flowers. Their selection of high end and garden variety flowers is excellent. Their flowers are always fresh and well priced. I also like the fact the each arrangement is unique. I highly recommend Gifford's.
PS. Their sales people always have great ideas and are very helpful.
Pros: flower selection, flowers are fresh, uinique designs
Cons: none

My husband purchased two red rose bouquets for Valentine's Day, $80 range for each. Sadly, most of the flowers started wilting within the next two days and only 6 of two dozen stayed fresh for a week+. Also the glass vase they came in was very plain, expected better quality. Requested delivery times for both bouquets (different locations) was in the afternoon - one arrived on time, the other arrived very early in the morning. I don't recommend this florist.
Pros: beautiful bouquet
Cons: didn't last long, not a good value, delivery schedule
