We ate at this Indian Restaurant while in Las Vegas. I had never eaten Indian food, however, I completely enjoyed it. The food was good and the service was excellent. Our party of 4 ordered 3 entrees and shared them so we could taste a variety of things.

Really good Indian restaurant at the Rio Hotel Casino. They are open for lunch and dinner which is a nice lunch change from coffee shops. They have combination dinners that include an entree, vegetables and raita. The food is very good, the place is nice. The fare isn't all that different than what you would get at a neighborhood restaurant only for two or three times the price.

Visited July 2005. Comfortable restaurant serving very tasty food. Had the Vindaloo - very nice but not as hot as usual Vindaloos (a 7 out of 10 on the "hot" scale). My wife had a Pasanda which, whilst tasty, had no kick or spice at all - nevertheless she enjoyed it. Good to see they had genuine Indian Beers - much more tasty than those dreadfully bland "light" beers.
On the downside the staff did not really know about the food. Any questions were answered by quoting from the menu. Indian restaurants usually have better informed staff. Also I ordered a white wine but received Blush (Rose) and when I complained I was told Blush is a white wine - news to me - and to be fair they changed it after a lengthy discussion.

The Rio has really built itself up from a smaller more local casino. They have beautiful rooms. The atmosphere is one of fun and music. Their staff is friendly. Would not mind staying there again.

If you do not mind staying off the Strip a little and having to use the shuttle to get to the Strip, then you will love the Rio. The standard rooms have big picture windows and the rooms themselves are a nice size, clean and comfortable.
The casino area is the attraction with its colorful decor, nice stores surrounding it, and the "Masquerade in the Sky" which they have recently brought back after doing away with it for several years.. I just wish they would bring back the free shows on the casino stage which were wonderful.
They are famous for their Carnival Buffet which is enormous and has been recently revamped. This and the Seafood Buffet put it in competition for the top ten buffets in Las Vegas. Don't forget to go to VegasResource.com and order your $5.00 off buffet coupon for this hotel. (It's a great website to learn about Vegas and to get freebies and discount coupons for many things in Vegas.) Or, you may be able to pick one up at Harrah's courtyard since they are owned by the same company.
PROS: big rooms, colorful and fun, buffets
CONS: not on Strip

We stayed here several times, and again this is a location where it helps to have a car. It's a busy hotel, so you don't get much attention. And if you need anything, be prepared for a long wait. The rooms are suite sized, but no kitchens here. They are comfortable and the beds were great. Shop around for rates, since I've found they really differ.
