The young technician, Jimmy Moss, was very professional and knowledgeable in his service with us. He diagnosed a problem we were experiencing with our AC and made the necessary calls to have it corrected. He serviced his responsibilities timely and efficiently. He was courteous and helpful with our questions, and took the time to get the information and documents to show us in writing. He is a great rep for Chas Roberts. I will request him again, and have renewed our service with CR. Ken

Before repairing what I called about, the service tech found other things that supposedly needed attention. Before he left, he found even more.
The system was working fine, the only issue I had was minor, but he kept trying to sell me things I don't need or want.

First thing to ask any service provider, "are your employees on commission?".
If they are, find another company.

Turns out that Chas Roberts installed the system when the house was built, and the main return/filter install was a very sloppy job.
It allowed dirty air to bypass the filter, and it was over 3 years before I discovered it.

Next time, I will be more careful who I call....

Hi, I work in customer service at Chas Roberts and we put our customers first, always.  We may be a big company, but we have been family owned and operated since 1942. Our founder, Chas Roberts, has his name on every comfort system the company has ever installed and we stand behind his name and our work.  Chas Roberts is synonymous with integrity and we??d like the chance to address your concerns. Please contact us directly at askchas@ChasRoberts.com.

This review is for Chas Roberts in general, not a particular location. I built a new home, now 1 1/2 yrs old. We've already had a few problems with both AC units, which tells me Chas does a lousy installation job and/or uses poor quality product. Unfornately, their customer service is even worse. It took 4 days to get Chas out to look at our issue. Our builder agreed to pay for the labor for the latest issue and parts are covered by warranty. The tech did a 5 minute fix (broken capacitor), and insists we pay $93 (builder discounted labor) on the spot, even though they should collect from the builder who told Chas they'd pay for the repair. I asked the tech to bill the builder directly since that's who's paying, then the tech went silent and started putting the bad part back on. The tech also refused to call his supervisor or give me the phone # to let me call. So I called the main Chas Roberts number to clarify the billing mix-up and got transferred around to the operator about 6 times, never getting to speak to anyone who cares. The builder will pay us back, but Chas shouldn't have turned it into a hassle. I've talked to enough Chas personnel to see this is a typical customer experience, rather than just getting 1 bad tech. I'll be switching to a more competent competitor for future AC work.

Luckily our builder, Shea Homes, is outstanding to work with.

After Ace Air screwed up my air conditioner, Chas Roberts came the next day and fixed it. It had faulty wiring that would have started a fire. Thank you Chas Robets, you may have saved my home.

You would all be doing yourself a favor by rememberting the companies that do the right thing for you. If you are lucky enough to find one these days. Fact of the matter is getting to the customer is so expensive that an affordable company will probably not even make a profit off the average customer for several visits. It's up to you to take care of your service company as well as he took care of you. I am an Ex Air conditioning and heating contractor who suffered to many years for to little pay and no respect. Don't miss it. Happy I'm out. The Question is in five years will you remeber who you were upset with? Happy with? My experince says no. So certain companies continue the price gouging described here and certain ones fold and find a way to make a living where they don't have to resort to it.

Our AC/Heating unit recently went out, and we needed to replace it. We have friends who have used Chas Roberts in the past and had very good things to say about them so we had them come and meet with us. The salesman that came was super knowledgeable and informed us of several different products that would suit our needs. He was very professional and clean cut and made me feel very comfortable with him. We were able to get a great price on our new unit and have it installed the next day. I would highly recommend Chas Roberts to anyone looking for help with their air conditioner!

We recently purchased a new air conditioning system from Chas Roberts. We have become so conditioned to having a bad experience when work is done in our home that we have learned to be very selective. Chas Roberts came highly recommended from family members who had used them.
Our experience with them exceeded all of our expectations! Our salesman was so helpful in educating us about many different manufacturers and possible solutions without putting any pressure on us.
The installation team was unbelievable! They were so polite, clean and detailed. It was unlike any experience we've had before.
I know their competition trys to keep up with them because they are such a large company but speaking as one who has worked with them, they were fantastic!

I am very disappointed in their customer orientation and response to customer needs. This is a company to avoid.

They installed my HVAC system in my new home. It was immediately apparent that the system was running 24x7, wasn't cooling the rooms and my electric bills were through the roof.

It took a lot of work on my part to convince Chas that there was a problem. I had to keep asking their service people back to find a problem. They said the system was working as specified and nothing they could do about it. It was frustrating that I had to keep re-convincing them that there was a problem in order to get someone to come check out the system. Finally, three hot summer months later, they found the problem.

Their installers had mistakenly wired the air handler such that the auxiliary heat strips were always on. So the chilled air was being heated by these strips as it was sent into the house. They re-wired it the right way and all of a sudden the rooms were cool, the system only ran periodically and my electric bills went down.

I did a thorough analysis of my electric bills and determined that I paid over $1350 extra as a result of those heat strips being turned on during that period. I sent the analysis to Chas Roberts and requested a re-imbursement of that amount. I followed up my request with occasional e-mails and voice messages to their warranty service people. They rarely returned the calls or e-mails. Once again - very frustrating.

Three months later, one day after I threatened to file a complaint with the Registrar of Contractors, I finally got their decision. They said they would not offer any re-imbursement. They said I should expect to have a high electric bill since I have things like a swimming pool, refrigerator, computers, lighting and other devices plugged in. In essence, it looks like they think they have some magic heat strips that don't draw any power!

In summary... They did not respond in a timely manner for requests for service. It took several unanswered calls and e-mails to get an update on my re-imbursement request. It took them three months for them to consider my re-imbursement request. They declined any financial responsibility for costs incurred by me due to their installation errors.

I strongly recommend avoiding this company.

Chas Roberts was the company who installed the air conditioning and heating units in our house. We called them out one time to check the air flow to one of the bedrooms. We got an appointment fast and the person showed up on schedule. The repairman was friendly and very professional.
