I am a member and have been for a couple of years. I use to be a member with 24 Hr but I have a better price with Body Xchange. In comparing the two, I see the same issues. If you go between 4-6 the machines are taken. The best time to go is early morning or after 7pm evenings and anytime on weekends. Body Xchange has basketball courts, volleyball, boxing, etc. The only thing it doesn't have is a pool but since I don't like swimming in public pools, I'm good! Keep working out it's great for the soul!!! :o)

I am a stay at home mother of three and personally have not had one problum with this gym. I of coarse go in the morning so Its not crowded for me i have my choice of doing whatever as far as other people saying its a meat market not really that i've seen there are a lot of body builder types and some young crowd that may be checking out others but i have never been hit on or bothered by any of them. The price is unbelivable one of my favorite parts, the staff is friendly and helpfull as well as the daycare staff. i ma starting group personal training classes next week which i will review as well which was alos a very decent price as far as personal training classes go

This club is so crowded I could never get in a good workout. The price is good, but that doesn't matter if you can never use a machine. The only time I can work out is after work, but it seems that everyone else is there too, so no one can work out. I joined In-Shape City on white lane instead and now I don't have to fight for a machine.

I am not a member of Body XChange Sports Club in NW Bakersfield for a few reasons. #1: The gym seems to always be crowded during peak hours. I understand that is always going to happen to any successful health club, but it seems as if you get what you pay for at the BX. If you are willing to commit to a contract at a health club, which I recommend anyway, it is very inexpensive to join, but the monthly dues are also inexpensive which means everyone in the area will have the money to join, and clog up all the machines. #2: It seems like big meat market, powerhouse gym. I moved from the LA area recently, and as a member of LA Fitness, there were ROOMS for different areas of the gym, i.e. cardio, weight ROOM, aerobics, basketball and racquetball had its own gymnasiums, and it had a couple pools. At BX, everyone looks as if machines were thrown into a warehouse and lined up to resemble ROOMS. Also, chain-link fencing around the aerobics room and half-court basketball area is not attractive. #3: There is a boxing ring thrown in the middle of the place that was hardly ever used while I used my one-week pass. Not everyone can use the ring, and when it is used, it causes a distraction. Boxing and martial arts should remain at their own respective facilities. Muhammad Ali would have never trained in Sports gym. With the right sense of organization, a bigger, more substantial building, and maybe some pools, this gym would be elite. I'm sure it does well to attract the twenty-something body builders and socialites, but for working, married professionals, it is not too appealing.
